Steerable Weaver Jack

An extremely cool (well, at least for me ) Weaver jack. The handle has the ability to steer the front wheels. As usual, to far away for me to snag.

Unless you are working on a truck or just want an old jack it's about useless. You can catch the frame rails on older full frame vehicles but to get under a Unibody is impossible. It's a cool jack if you like cool old jacks

To use a jack on a unibody, there are pinch weld adapters and pads available. Certainly a lot safer than using some of the factory jacks that come with some cars these days. Some folks have also been known to use a hockey puck with a groove cut in it as a cheap pinch weld adapter with their floor jack.

I don't follow you.

I've been using these side lift pads with no problem and the floor jack does roll a bit as the car is being jacked into position.

Ok, duh... I get what you are saying, but if it's a unibody car that you are working on then usually there is not really a good place to jack from underneath, so no reason to put a floor jack under there at all.

Actually just about every unibody car i've ever lifted has a notch in the pinch weld that tells you where it is reinforced to properly lift the vehicle from the pinch weld.

And if there's a question on cars i've lifted, i've probably lifted at least 10 cars a day for the past 3 years, at several shops that service all makes and models.

This is an old thread but here is my 1928 Weaver. The handle release has been O-rigged, need to find photo details of an original.
