Welcome to the site. There have been plenty of show your tools threads here, you can probably find them using the search function at the top of the page.

Really impressive collection, I hope you use them more than I did in my teens (and 20s, 30s and 40s!)

Nice start for sure. I was about your age when I first got the courage to ask for a 349 dollar 44 inch us general for Christmas. Multiple 72 inch boxes now and still constantly buying lol. There’s a good thread several hundred pages long with toolbox walk throughs.

I’ve got too many to show lol 😂. I have over 2,000 sockets probably close to 2,500 now. I can fill up a box at my pawn shop for around $20 so that’s how I got so many lol. I’m 21 and I fix cars for a living so I’ve probably got more than most 21 year olds haha. You have a good start to a nice collection from your pictures. I started off kind of like that too and then it just grew and keeps growing.

My collection looks like the wall at the tool store. Except none of them are shiny anymore.
Big wrenches, little wrenches, slim wrenches, flare wrenches, ratchet wrenches, ratchet wrenches with swivel heads, crows feet, flare crows feet. Theres a drawer full of taps and dies, one for squeezy things, one for twisty things, a drawer for hammers, one for soldering stuff, one for vice grips, one for tools specific for brake jobs, one for carb and fuel work, one for eyes, ears, gloves, and other PPE.

Somewhere I still have most of the socket set I got for christmas when I was 17. My mom got me a craftsman mechanics set in a black blowmolded case. And she had wrapped every single socket and wrench in the kit individually. It took me a solid 3 hours to unwrap it.

Good of you to start young. My first toolbox was a 16" box when I was about 10. I still have it and it is currently my box for chains and has been many things over the years. My first "roller" was what is typically sold now for about $100, I still have the chest but not the base.
My first real roller was a craftsman 30" standard 2 piece I got when I was about 17 along with one of the 300pc craftsman sets for Christmas and yes I still have. I've had to replace a few sockets here and there along with swapping out a few screwdrivers.
Take care of what you have and it will last you a lifetime but never go into debt for tools.

I think I have the same liner as you for my toolbox. Just be aware that certain things will "stick" to it and cause tool blemishes. In my case, I have a dewalt flexible drill bit extension where that liner kind of gummed up the print on the letters. Depends on how picky you are on tool finish, so something to watch out for.

Welcome to the forum.

You appear to have a nice start on your journey to acquiring tools. Are you starting as a career and needing them or is this solely as a hobby? There are many of us here that do both, career and hobby so you should fit in either way.

There are several show off your tools threads if you want to peruse them at your leisure.

Here are a couple of the more lengthy running and consistent ones:

Let's See Your Toolbox

Show Your New Tool Arrivals

Also, many of us have our own threads showing off our home shops, tools and equipment so look around at the site and become familiar with many of the members as this is more of a community than just a place to ask questions or show off one's tools.

At least you keep it neat and tidy. I've (unfortunately) recently inherited my father's and my father-in-law's tools. Adding that to mine, I could open an auto shop. Dad and Dad-in-law were not very organized, so every time I open a drawer, box, case, bag, cabinet, I find another few sockets and various tools (no 10mm's, though!!)

Stay organized!!!

Definitely great job keeping it organized! I have kaizen foam in mine and I still find myself, yet rarely, still throwing things in the drawer and THEN putting them back in the correct spot in the drawer later.

I got a decent size craftsman set when I was 14-15 or so for Christmas. I was slightly disappointed that Christmas...

Now, looking back it was one of the best gifts I have ever received. I have used it more than any other gift and it will undoubtably last the rest of my life. I remember a handful of years ago my dad asked what I wanted for christmas and I sent a link to a set of wrenches, it was all larger size stuff I didn't have 22mm+ size and over 1" stuff. My dad commented he didn't know when I would ever use wrenches that big when he saw them. I send him a picture every time I pull one of the bigger wrenches out. I have actually found myself using them even more than I thought I would.

I think we may have scared him off. After his original post he hasn't been back in a week. Not sure the intent of posting if not going to follow through. Can't follow the logic there personally.

Getting 22mm+ size in craftsman is fun when it's 1/2 inch drive or 3/4 inch drive, it's nearly impossible to get a 6 point in those drive sizes, so I went to Tekton or craftsmanship V-line. Also seems like Tekton has moved more of their line up to being made in the US.

That's how I feel when I open my grandfather's toolbox, maybe if enough people want to see it, I can take some pictures of my current garage and the toolboxes.

Thank you for explaining that, I do intend to do more here as I get more familiar with the place, like asking questions about how tools should and should not be used.

Hey guys it's me again, as I said before, I'm not always crazy active but I got a new Samsung S23 Ultra and so it took me some time to get my forum logins back as I am also part of some other forums like Nasocic or what ever that's called lol.

I'm planning on getting Tekton's 1/2 inch drive 12 Point Impact Sockets next, but I don't have much money on me right now, so that will probably show up in my toolbox in the next month or two. I would put my car in my toolbox but she is much too large and I don't think a Subaru Legacy 2.5GT counts as a tool as they explode a little bit to much.

Picked this up on marketplace for 6K, literally building the back wall of my garage expansion project around it.
Should be able to finally fit all of my hand tools in one place lol
