This old Fluke keeps kicking, left last night and a shop minion decided to move up a kenworth I had the after treatment wiring pulled down and apart on. Moved the truck 10’ got the fluke with both right side tandem inner duals. Thing still seems to work fine, my Mac creeper on the other hand not so much

Here I sit pondering somebody’s fate for doing rather unsafe procedures

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that one.

That ***** about the meter. Doesn't your Mac man love you? Warranty?

I'm guessing younger guy? No clue how you teach common sense without making a ton of **** ups and learning from your mistakes. I've got an apprentice who would do the same thing.

A Harbor Freight multimeter that was 35 years old was my main meter until I switched jobs 6 years ago. My bosses kid dropped a car on my Matco bottom box drawer and bent the guide that he left open. Guess who had to fix it?

I love Fluke multimeters still using my 77. OP reminds me of a funny story... my FIL was a big Irish cop worked moving commercial buildings to make ends meet. He went out on first date with my MIL who was (is) beautiful blonde from the Bronx. She awaited him for second date he was a no show... called a few days later and said I'm sorry.... only to be interrupted with "No body stands me up..." he said wait, I was in the hospital I got run over by a sanitation truck... she said OK I'm listening... well he was actually working a moving shift after his NYPD shift and fell asleep on the beach in City Island... he was awakened when the sanitation truck backed up over him and tandem wheels were on his thighs. Only thing that saved him was he was pushed into sand. Well, he showed up for 2nd date (no 2) on crutches and the rest was history... his last name wasn't Fluke but first name was John. Tough as nails....

My Mac guy likes money and me but I’ll doubt he’ll warranty that

I had to refrain from lots and lots of verbal abuse
Re explained the young guy about walk around and look procedures because it I was next there and he started or drove harming me, he would hurt far far more then I did. The tools are a whatever.
Can’t haooen in the future

I've dropped mine in a couple fountains over the years. I just pull the batteries and tape it to the ladder rack and drive home and it works again. Stout meters.

I have and use a very old FLUKE 75. Two decades ago, the readout became intermittent. The board had cracked. I emailed Fluke about the situation. The customer service person suggested that Fluke meters do not fail. She asked what colour the board was. Two days later I had a new board at no cost to myself. The old 75 continues to perform perfectly.

I ran over my same (Blue Lisle) creeper with a fuel tractor trailer and was able to bend the wheels back into place with a heat gun. Still works great 11 years later. Glad to see the Fluke held up!

I think you guys have me convinced I need to buy a fluke meter.
If you have the need or just want it and have the means you wont regret it. I was introduced to fluke with my last job and just loved that is was a tool I never had to question no mater which one I grabbed and they were invaluable when it came to trouble shooting.

I am lucky to have a 87V for personal use now. There are plenty of other less expensive models it you are looking something for DIY work.

I have a Fluke 12 that was passed on to me by a neighbor's widow. Works like a champ and is now my go-to multimeter.

Another 77 owner/user here. (y)

The shop I was working in back in the early ‘90s was upgrading to 87s and pitched all the 70-series meters in the trash. After obtaining permission, I rescued a 77.

All of our test equipment is checked every year and NIST certified. My trusty 77 passed with flying colors just a couple of weeks ago.

New ones are not made in the USA, except for a limited number of very expensive models.
I really want an 88V automotive multimeter but have had a hard time justifying price (about $500 for basic meter without upgraded leads). I believe it is Made in USA along with most of their multimeters in that price range. I've had my 77 since the 1980s and believe it was north of $200 back then. Still going strong and have only replaced batteries. The 77 does most everything I need a multimeter for but I like some of the features on the 88V that are geared to automotive use.
