I love your restorations if you couldn't tell, but I do love Hersheys milk choclate and M&M's maybe more...

that said your work is far above the quality of a Hershey chocolate. I do like the 5 cent packaging and I just went in a candy store with my bride looking for some stuff for grandkids and OMG a double bubble piece of gum was $.25.

keep up the great work!!

I couldn't resist buying the 2 Hershey dispensers when I saw them

I started on the Hershey machine first because it was in the worst shape

Don, You've probably already seen this but, "Calling Don Long!"

A lot of this stuff you may already have but some of them are crying out for the Long treatment and would look great in the BPG!

Thanks for bringing those treasures to my attention. No I hadn't caught this sale.
I've come to the realization that I'm not going to be able to get to all those treasures in my containers that I shared with you when you stopped by.
That said I'm trying to stop hunting so I won't be so tempted to buy. At least for the next couple of weeks lol.

Well After running out to the pinstriper and picking up the Blackhawk porto power box about a 100 mile round trip I went to work on the Hershey candy dispenser and just stopped tonight because I need a couple of polished screws to finish it
I started this afternoon by cleaning all the internal parts and getting everything to move smoothly.

Before

After

IMG_2669.JPG

Then I brought the box into the house and set up shop on my desk where I could study the teardown pictures on my computer

After a few hours I have the dispenser working well and mostly back together

The porto power case was a bit rusty when I bought it but with a little work and a coat of fresh paint and a trip to my sign guy the case looks new again

I went into the party garage with the case to find it a home and came up with this

IMG_2658.JPGIMG_2659.JPG

With the new case I'm going to have to refresh the porto power that goes into it. then I can redo the other one

I took my Chevy Blackhawk tool board down today and started setting up the tools that i've been collecting for it.
Only to discover that the picture I have of a chevy tool board from the internet is a different board than what I have and most of the tools that I've collected are different. I'll be cleaning and searching again for the correct tools. In the mean time I'm making hangers and posting the tools that I have

@garagenvy that is a very cool watch. Do you have any other information about it?
Only that it was an award for selling used cars. I also have a baseball bat award with a plaque on it for making quota.

While waiting on the chrome to come home for the blackhawk SJ18 floor jack I've
decided to bring back one of my older unfinished projects.
While reading on Free parking the other day that our old friend "Kevin 54" has passed on and remembering that he would always prod me about getting the English phone booth restored when ever he dropped by my thread.
In his honor I'm putting it back into the shop and focusing on making it happen

That said I've put the left side and rear panels on the work bench and will get the left side into the booth for the last coat of primer tomorrow.

Let me take you back to the beginning of this project for review.
I bought the booth back in Feb. 2013 from a friend that was downsizing his project list.

1.JPG

I took it home and it sat til June of that year when I brought it into the shop and started taking it apart

9.jpg

Most of the screws were so rusted that I had to weld a bolt onto them to get enough leverage to break them loose.
After removing 2 of the panels I decided to leave the rest of the booth together and work on it as a whole. That's where this project got dropped.

13.jpg

So in January 2022 some 9 years later I brought the booth back into the shop and started removing the old paint

30.jpg
After spending 2 days grinding paint I decided to try something different.
I called out a mobile sandblasting co. to help me out.

5.jpg

When he was done the booth looked much better

6.jpg

Tragedy struck when I decided to tip the booth down on its side to make working on it much easier.
While tipping the booth with the fork lift it rolled off and broke apart breaking the base in half and breaking the corner mounts on both sides. The work stopped again with much disappointment.

7.jpg

3 months later the pain had gone and it was time to get back on the booth. I grabbed the roof and after smoothing it with a coat of bondo I shot primer on it and put it back outside while I worked on the broken base.

9.jpg
I drilled holes in both broken corners and bolted straps on to hold the 2 pieces together.

Because I had put the 2 broken side pieces out in the yard after the fall and because I had found a better door for the booth, it was time to call out the mobile sand blaster again

10.jpg

After the blaster left I had good pieces to work with again.

With the parts of the booth cleaned again It was a good time to work on the base and get it painted black

2022-05-17 18.02.54.jpg

Next I started doing the smoothing process on the right side panel and the back panel of the booth
A little bondo and a lot of sanding and the 2 pieces were ready for primer

2022-05-17 18.02.54.jpg2022-07-29 11.45.55.jpg2022-07-29 16.37.50.jpg
2022-06-04 13.51.05.jpg
and that is where this project sat until this morning when the 2 side pieces came back into the shop and more sanding took place.

Now you are up to speed on this project with a meaning for our past friend Kevin 54

oddly enough I was just thinking about your phone booth a few days ago, wondering how you were doing on it.
Cobbler
I'm committed to finish it now. Just a little to late. But hopefully it will be painted before the end of may.
Tomorrow I'm going to build the cement pad and get the base secured there.

First I’ve heard that Kevin has passed and May he rest in peace and enjoy his new golden garage with all the best equipment.

Good on you for finishing the phone booth not only for him but it will look amazing at the party garage too.

Here’s to another great day cause we know we can make it that.

Don, the phone booth looks like a lot a crevice, nook and cranny sanding……..that’s more than a couple of diet cokes right there!

Sad to hear about Kevin54. RIP
Yes it is Jeff
He got banned for who knows what a couple of years ago and he came back to let us all know that he was through with the GJ. in his last post and I've missed him since.

You are most welcome Lutz
There are plenty of new projects in the wind (or shed) I'm trying to clear up what I've started before starting any more. So keep in touch

My beliefs are in line with yours Drives
I was a little shocked when I researched how long ago I got the booth and started its refreshing

Yep Zippy
I'm trying to limit my intake to 4 bottles a day but like you said this project may take a few more lol
These parts are ugly castings

Staying with my commitment, There is some color on one piece of the phone booth today!!!!

IMG_2689.JPG

This is the inside of the left panel.
The back panel is also close to getting some color on the inside

IMG_2688.JPG

A little light sanding with 500 grit sand paper and it will be ready.
The plan is to get these 2 panels painted and bolted to the base then start working on the other 2 panels. They are a mess and will take a lot of work to get them to this point.

I have a mobile sand blaster coming over tomorrow morning to reblast the last 2 panels for the phone booth . To make it worthwhile to have him come, I prepared a couple of other items for him to shoot as well. The 1 big item that needs his attention is that last alemite (lincoln) lube station that I picked up a couple weeks ago. I put it in the shop this afternoon and striped the guts out of it along with the gauges and chrome strips. I also cleared most of the dried up grease by heating it up with a butane torch and scraping it off the floor of the unit.
It looks different now.

IMG_2695.JPG

IMG_2701.JPG

I didn't know that it was missing the back panel til I got it home so I'll be making one for it along with doing some minor body work to get everything straight again. Oh Well no hill for a climber lol

I'm also excited to start on this double oiler after it gets sand blasted tomorrow.

Woke up this morning to a little rain so the idea of sand blasting outside was a bust so I moved all the pieces back inside the big shed and called my sand blast guy. He said that he had forgot about our appointment and he was headed out of state for a family emergency so It wasn't going to happen today anyway.
IMG_2702.JPG

the weeds are trying to take over the back lot so when the light rain gave up I jumped on my fork lift and started moving stuff around so Jose (My helper) could weed wack and that took us the rest of today

curious , when you run out of room in the party garage, will you keep collecting? :lol_hitti
That's an interesting question Cobbler
I've been in guy garages that collect the same style stuff and you couldn't hardly walk through the place more than single file.
With that thought I have a V E R Y L O N G way to go before I would be full. That said. It takes a little time to figure out where to put the next piece that I bring in now and the few pieces that I set out for the sand blaster today have no place selected inside yet.
To answer your question I can only say that the hunt is as much of the thrill as the buy is and once that purchase has been made it's on to the next quest. The one thing that is starting to hold me back some is the amount of energy I have left to work on all the treasures that I find vs what I already have in waiting

Don, I've mentioned this before, but is your blasting guy shooting sand or the like thereof? I only ask because the last guy I used was mobile and used glass and water. Very nice finsih withought the fear of warpage on sheetmetal due to staying cool. He is mobile but in my case he took my stuff back to his place for the work. when he is done blasting he shoots it with a fluid (don't know the name?) to prevent flash rust. The coating or wash preserves it about a month or so, maybe longer if kept indoors. I was really happy with the result. You might check into it for your area.
