This is a Snap-on KRA 3810/ KRA 3800 combo for $900. It's not an ideal size for me, since I'm actually looking for something like the USG 72". As it stands now, I've got all metrics in one 27" top & bottom set, SAE in another, impacts and 1/2" sockets/ratchets/torques in a USG 44", and misc. smalls in an old snappy top box. Getting this combo doesn't seem to solve anything other than my fix for my tool & box addiction. I've all but committed to buying it tomorrow morning.

Stupid idea?
Ok idea, given the value?
Good idea?
Get some real problems and then post?

Right you are. I've never met anyone who complained his tool box was too big, ever.
Yep! I bought the H.F. 72" box, plus side drawer cabinet plus full height locker (with 2 lower drawers) cabinet, and it ended up being way too small, so my tools that wouldn't fit, are in an old Craftsman rollaway and the top box.

Still not enough room. I probably should just buy 2 H.F 72's with side cabinets. Yes, that's it. That will solve my tool storage problem, RIGHT?!!

2 might solve the issue, but 3 surely would.

Does anybody think this is a bad deal, as in not a good value for $900? I haven't bought it yet, so please feel free to be brutally honest.

Convince me not to buy this:

Stickers
Faded paint
Friction slides
Shallow depth
Probably needs new drawer liners
You have to move those boxes by yourself
You have to reorganize all of your tools
$900 could buy more tools

How did I do?

I have a few lonely toolboxes. They need a friend.
Seriously, buy the box, give it a good freshening and a polish then put it in your office for a week then post it on Craigslist for a couple grand more.
I have a big stainless TB in my office space. It is a file cabinet, now.

I don't mind reselling it. Just seems that it's worth more than they're asking.
I've looked every day for the last several years on FB, CL & OfferUp and asking price for this combo is typically 2-3x what this is, which is why I started this thread. I did my homework on the seller too. I know he's an art professor at a nearby college.

I’m not really up on snap on boxes and could not explain the differences in the different model lines, but that seems like a great deal at $1500. buy, see if if it works for you. If it doesn’t, you’ll have no trouble reselling it.

You've narrowed it down to a USG 72, the SO just seems like a good deal because it's cheaper than the one you actually want.
You really want a New tool box in the color of your choosing!
Keep saving!
It isn't a saving issue. It's a matching issue. Since HF is transitioning from the old V2's to the new V3's, the only matching set I could get in a 72" is yellow, and I'd rather lick a slug all day than have yellow boxes. I'd have to pay $178 to get that big banana shipped here too, which is actually worse than licking a slug.

It's worse than I thought! :)
I would pass,
you're not in need for a toolbox, you want a different toolbox, wait for the one you want.

Unless he accepts 700, I'd still pass but at least you saved some money!

I know prices vary according to location, but, this may help you make a decision.

I’d luv that just for all my mic’s and machining knick knacks. All those drawers would really be nice.

Never mind the stickers, they add “vintage” character. I bet they would take $800. I bet you could double your money. You could use it to categorize and sort all your hardware, play pretties, whatnots and doohickeys. There, have I helped you make your mind up?

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. The seller was expected to deliver it tomorrow on his way to the next town over, but he's coming tonight now. Just got a message saying he's on his way, so I can't call take-backs.

I'll update tomorrow when I curse most of you for letting it get to this.

Around here, they would offer him $700 when he showed up...

On a serious note, the fact he is delivering it is worth $50 if not $100.

The price is good, and it's being delivered to your door.
However, what you're getting is lots of small drawers. If you have lots of small tools you need to organize separately, that's great.
But I like wide and deep drawers, myself.

Bingo. Drawers are too small, not high enough, not deep enough. I've got a potential buyer now if I want to sell it and double my money though, so no worries. I got it for $800, delivered right to my garage door. Hard to complain.

I'll be able to easily remove that oxidation after taking off the stickers, but I'll only do that if I try to get more than $1,600 for it.

too late now, but this says it all to me: " It's not an ideal size for me, since I'm actually looking for something like the USG 72"
