Looking good out there, guys.

Managed to slip away to the flea market. Didn’t find any additional parts to the Snap-On 9/32 set, but another seller from last trip brought more sockets, so I found four more Snap-On swivels to go with the previous three, making a partial Ferret set.
Here are all 7 from the two trips. Couple of Plombs upper left.

The day’s haul.
No name folding knife, 3 Matco locking extensions, Craftsman Bolt Out, New Britain ratchet, Proto knockoff ratchet multitool, Craftsman rhft, Matco screwdriver, Heyco BMW pliers.
Adjustables- Crescent, Challenger,Skokie (Japan).
Wrenches- Par-X, Williams, Armstrong, Herbrand, Martin, Plomb, Armstrong, Blue-Point.
Wright extension, Craftsman U Joint.
Sockets are OTC, Hinsdale, Snap-On, Williams, S-K, Proto, Chicago Pneumatic, Mac, Husky, small (I think) Dzus.

The interweb says this 1/4” socket stamped HTS-2 is an Apex H—Torque bit.

3 bay - More pics of the knives please! (Mac too!)

Sheath knife is a dagger of some sort? Brand/COO?
The folder has a Proto style ratchet "hammer" head? COO?

Some nice tool finds in there! RHFT, and those Heyco WP pliers are well made and work well!

Estate sale ($10): Thorsen 1/2" socket set; Indestro socket set.

What I'm learning is that even if there is missing one piece (and they're not SnapOn or Mac) they basically have no resale value. The question then becomes how do I get rid of it? Goodwill, garbage...

sockets.jpeg
In my scrap metal discards from this week, have a bunch of those Thorsen Sockets, and a similar Indestro set too beat up to sell. Problem is always having those needing and those disposing in same place/time; and caring enough to take time to sort out of garbage and reunite.

Good tool weekend, although seemed slow to start. Spent $802; got two unusuals. First one, only second one I've found in 50 years:

Second one, I rarely find tool don't already have to add to my box. Found this set this weekend:

Remainder of purchases I didn't bother to photograph; just sorted, threw away, threw in scrap bucket, integrated into tool boxes and storage. Included Snap-On metric socket set, S-O impact socket set, S-O swivel impact socket set, several S-O ratchets, Matco deep socket set, large Proto adjustables, a few odd S-O wrenches, a large quantity of odd S-O sockets, a Kennedy machinist box (larger than the typical one) filled with not too exciting machinist/aviation tools, a Baldor buffer, a box of new buffing wheels, a few sets of V series Craftsman sockets, a few Craftsman wrenches, a dozen or so Craftsman ratchets and breaker bars, a short S-O wrench set, a Blue-point hammer, a dial indicator, a set of wood lathe tools, a few live and dead centers for wood lathe, a large quantity of taps, center drills, drill bits, reamers, etc, the usual bucket full of asian tools and mismatched old USA tools to discard, a 10" Logan metal lathe almost complete for parts, a cabinet full of reloading equipment, a large assortment of blacksmith tongs, a Delta wet/dry 2 wheel sharpening center, and a S-O tool cart.

Okay, I'm going to have to call a Party Foul on you, Boogerman.
You can't just casually mention you had a good tool weekend spending $802 and then say you couldn't be bothered to take a few pictures! Anyone can rattle off a list of interesting tools but without an accompanying narrative and PICTURES, it didn't happen.

Snuck away during the busy weekend (graduation) to try and grab more stuff from the horder mechanic. The family said they had been setting stuff to the side now that they know what my brother and I like. In an effort to grab everything in one trip, I brought the pickup AND trailer. When I showed up there was a rollback dumpster filled and the same amount next to it in scrap metal! They had been working non-stop, there was a stack of 50 tires next to garage. You'd think the garage was completely empty but nope there was still a lot more to go. As we pulled up they started just carrying stuff to the pickup. Coffee cans of tools, parts, stands, boxes, and all sorts of things. Truthfully, I don't know what I brought home and there's still more to go! Not sure how to processes and record it all for you. There's just so much that I'm getting to the point that I don't know where I'm going to put it and might have to start saying no to some things. For now, I'll leave you with a few pictures and start processing stuff as quickly as I can.
IMG_7885.JPG

Here's what I left behind for now, should I bring them home? Unfortunately because this stuff has been buried in a garage for so long, there's a lot of moisture damage and it's covered in rust. If it's not covered in rust, it's completely coated in oil.

Good weekend, the alcoa tape and level i think were the best. The knives were 2$ apiece

That's crazy! I brought home a small advertising knife from that same company and forgot to included it in the photos because I threw it on the counter as I came in.

Outlaw- I'll try to get a few more pictures. Why won't this bold turn off arrrrrrrgh!!!

Brockmub- amazing how one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Brockmub, definitely grab the lathe. As you probably know, it is a South Bend 9", and they go for upwards of a $1000. I am in the middle of restoring one that was in similar condition, and I know that there is a market for them. They weigh around 400 pounds, so it is not too much work to get it in your truck.

Took pictures of the only interesting pieces. Rest is just resupply of expendables or mundane everyday stuff.

Boogerman- we don't know if suckage awaits that Craftsman ratchet. Maybe it was $0.50, maybe $150. Congrats on the find. In 20 years of tool collecting I've never found one in the wild.

DEFINITELY grab the drill press. You can always part it out or flip it as-is if you're not interested in keeping it!

I'm going to grab the drill press and a lathe. I'm just running out of room and time, so I have probably start passing on some things. For example the power hacksaw? What the heck is that thing? I'll probably leave the Sears sander, the engine analyzer, and maybe the tire balancer. I just don't think I can flip them fast enough to make it worth taking up space in my garage.

Yes, I've come to realize that. If I don't care about what I'm collecting then I missing the whole point. It's like boiling down the bones of the Thanksgiving turkey into stock. Ya got to enjoy it down to last socket... which doesn't mean I'm the finder of lost sockets, but ya if you got 'em ya got to appreciate them.

To whit, just picked these up. Wanted the Bonney 4098 ratchet and a None Better 6" pivoting head extension (see next post), but got the sockets as part of the "bargain" aka responsibility. 8- None Better SAE 12 point semi-deep sockets; and 8- Made in USA SAE shallow double square and 12 point sockets using hex/Allen key drivers. Ya just know that somebody wants em, but who and where are you?

Keeping in the spirit of things. Here are some of the highlights of this weeks picks:

Miller Falls 502 Master Corner Bit Brace; Miller Falls # 5 Eggbeater Drill; Stanley No. 20 carpenters square; Diamond K 38 slip jaw pliers; Diamond A262 6" adjustable wrench; Bonney 4098 1/2" ratchet; 6" None Better S53 flex head extension; No.2 Athol clamp on vise; BK Precision 1604A isolation transformer; and a Sioux 325 impact wrench.

Don't get me going about the vise. I'm such a sucker for vises, but it kind of makes me blind to their flaws.

The Alcoa knife I mentioned, Macduf.

Matco locking extensions, Outlaw. Is that what you were wondering about? Re-reading it you said Mac, sorry. The Mac was just a 1/4” socket.

The Proto-look alike is made in China. I have a similar one in its case.

The other knife and sheath are both unmarked. The knife happens to fit but it’s a folding type that locks above the guard. Is there a name for this design? I think it’s a cheap import.

OK I wasn't expecting a folder in a fixed blade sheath! I'm sure there is a name, but I can't recall. it has a
Wanna be a Switchblade" look to it.

Yep, that Proto knock off sure looks Proto!

Finished emptying the coffee cans and buckets, moving into the tool boxes. Every drawer is loose washers, gaskets, random wires, and random tools. I'll pull out a socket from one box, that I saw in a different drawer. So disorganized and messed up, every small punch is bent and there are numerous home-made tools. There are probably several tools that I won't be able to identify and will accidentally throw away the necessary/critical parts. Here's a few pics of the interesting items from today's work.

Here are all of the cans, a decent Craftsman box, a pretty unique voltage tester(?), Spitfire cylinder head, a gray tool box (haven't identified it yet), some teeny-tiny Craftsman, some nudie catalogs under some other catalogs, and finally a picture of what every drawer looks like.

Found another No.3 English Record vise at the local second hand shop last week, $10. So now I’ve got two of them. Still looking for a 6” though...
Mentioned in a other thread I found a beat up Ingersoll-Rand cutoff tool in the local mechanics scrap bin, (why yes, I did climb in and poke around a little 😂) the end of the body was kinda smashed (plastic shell) but after a good cleaning and some help from my welder buddy JB she’s good to go. 😉 Been needing one of those actually, perfect timing. Now if I had more air in the shop I could make use of it 🙄 lol

Parts Pups...interesting. Apparently they ended the year after I was born. No wonder I've never seen them. Pretty cool!

Still working on stuff from the Bandit Shed. This Vimco retirement clampnon light is cool and one of the few keepers. I'm at that age where I need it LOL. The pair of bows were cool, I used to do archery in high school in gym class, I liked the ***** shooting better LOL. Some dry bags, working foot air pump, life vests, kayak rope and an old first aid kit, I tossed out the stuff that expired in 2002 LOL. The Craftsman sander works and will be another keeper. The 2 man crosscut saw is just over 6 feet long and in good shape, nice handles good blade teeth. The Hubbard saw wedges would be used with it. Most of this stuff will be in my backyard sale this weekend.

Highlights of Saturday's neighborhood sale run, about 6hours of mostly baby clothes & whatnot yielded these nuggets:
Craftsman flarenut bundle of 4 VV VA metrics & 1 SAE $8.00
P1010005.JPG

At a retirement village where I stop each year to see what the old BMY mechanic is selling.
A Williams S-52 $4.00
Snap-on 1990 1/4 drive set with some magnetic inserts & adapter $10.00
MAC VT-8 Set 1/2 drive with hex inserts that set screw in place $5.00

P1010004.JPG

At a place that broke the golf club rule, underneath a table with lots of naked Barbie dolls.
Two 1997 Snap-on plus wrenches 11/16 & 1" $15.00 the pair.

P1010003.JPG

And my favorite, from a TOO
A new old stock Ridgid 152 for 2 bucks.
Didn't have any spring loaded cutters when I started as a plumber helper back in 72. Ha!

This Spring, I sold a Bear bow like the natural finish one for $300. Do a little research on it.

I figured that's what it was and knew you had an eye for them. I'll try to clean it up to see if there are any markings.

Thanks Ctuai! The bow has been well-used and no decals or maker on it. Looks like it could still be used though.
