Don't forget about oiling. I built one into my old 4Runner and used one of those inline-oilers that keep your air tools oiled? That was not enough oil. I got about 10 hours use on it and it seized up. But it ran a 4 bay shop pretty much all day when the compressor gave out. A twig under the throttle stop kept it at 1000rpm.
Yeah those inline oilers don’t work for these at all, basically they only lube the tops of the cylinders lol, does nothing for the internals. I guess it could work if you plumbed it into the crankcase instead of the suction port, I dunno if it would keep up though.
I plugged the through-holes to the crankcase and filled it halfway with oil for a test spin with the drill and it’s passing a lot of oil by the rings even with the case vented so I’ll probably swap it out for some heavier grease. Not my favourite solution but it will work.

Enclosed trailer lights. I swear, every time I park it and everything is working perfect. Next time I hook up and plug in, something doesn’t work.

Worked on diagnosing a sudden backfire issue that started Saturday. I think I fixed it. Test drive no longer getting backfires. But I can’t yet explain why what I did helped, so that’s going to bug me.

Nothing good coming up for a home game for the Orioles? Baltimore is so much closer for you.
They are playing the Dodgers a team which I very much despise lol. But I would go and root for the Orioles. It’s almost all sold out at Camden Yards Stadium that week though at least for the night games and good seats. Pittsburgh is playing the Guardians which I don’t really care for either but I certainly like them better than the Dodgers lol. I really want to go to Philadelphia to see them play the Brewers but I’ll be happy with anything as long as it’s baseball.

Finished a cabin driveway marker sign that I gave my in-laws for Christmas.
Sand Blast resist grain relief on 2'' red cedar and finished with Cabot Australian Timber oil.
There are areas where it could have been cleaner/smoother but I only had a couple evenings to get it cut out, painted, masked and blasted before Christmas.

I pulled my wife's truck into the garage to re-glue her rearview mirror that had fallen off.

Funny, when I was pulling the truck around from my back driveway to the garage, there was a guy in the driveway who asked if I was (my name). I was like "yaaah?". And he said he was from my insurance company, here to take updated pics of my property. Oh goodie. I can't wait to get their list of "demands" in the mail. That's what happened last time they came out. They nitpicked everything...

Replaced the serpentine belt in my wife’s former Subaru Outback that is now my daily driver that I can rack up miles on without having to drive my other cars. 118K miles and I thought the belt looked not bad, I have seen worse. Also this belt was the easiest one I have ever changed, a three minute job. Awesome.

Changed the spark plugs on my wife's 2017 Ford Explorer Sport...
It has a transverse V6 and the 3 plugs tucked back by the firewall were a PITA...
But... Got R Done...
Tomorrow I'll change out the rear axle / differential lubricant...
It's a hell of a lot easier on the 3.5EB than it is for the 3.5NA. You need to remove the top half of the intake on the NA.

Almost finished the compressor bracket for the 12 valve. Fiddled around with different options for pulleys, have to build one that bolts to the front of my fan pulley to drive the second serp belt circuit. Then went digging in the pile out back for some AC lines and some small cdsm to finish the mount bracket with. And then I sat and wished I had access to a lathe again... lol.71A45F75-54EF-449D-A649-01EE68F2F979.jpeg92102B18-0B94-447F-A968-A4BE72743037.jpegF880BF73-6637-4FE0-BFF6-3A9E7E20899B.jpeg

I got back my hydraulic outrigger cylinder back from the hydraulic repair shop today and immediately installed it on my tractors backhoe. After 3 repacks of this cylinder at the dealer all of them failing in a week or so I got mad demanded back the money from the last repack from the dealer and took it to someone that does it on a daily basis. The hydraulic shop found that the cylinders ram had an imperfection (burrs). They replaced the ram welded on the pin bore and gave it back to me. Expensive yes but a new hydraulic would have been my preferred repair but the issue came up that it was back order by three to six months. So rebuilt correctly was the only option. IMG_6831.jpeg

Restoring an old Mosler safe. Hopefully, last coat of high build primer applied, need to sand and final prep the inside, out, shelves and drawer for epoxy primer then paint. Still need to setup garage for paint, so will need some time (week or so???) to move, clean, and set up ventilation. After that's all done, move to it's final resting place, apply decals and do the gold pinstriping. Hoping to be done before hunting season :)

Added a yellow flashing light on the Ranger, so I can both look like a **** and be a little safer when I plow the driveway or work in the ditches at the house, WIN/WIN. :)

Hmm let’s see, today I joined an AWESOME forum... 😉
And then I tested an old Ingersoll-Rand cutoff tool I found in a scrap bin and fixed yesterday, (had to JB weld the threaded fitting back into the end of it, as the plastic had been cracked/smashed) and now it works good! Just don’t have quite enough air to run it for long... oh well.
Then I worked on brainstorming a bracket to mount a second AC compressor on my 12 valve for my on-board-air system.😁4288C0DA-95E5-4869-919C-F97816820E26.jpeg
12 valves are lame. I’ll trade ya a 24 valve for it Lmao

Keep us updated, and more importantly, will your bracket fit a 24v?!?! Lol

Well, since I'll be 61 at the end of the week, I've finally accepted the fact that I'm no longer a single speed bad-a$$. Today, I broke down and pulled a derailleur and 10speed cassette from the parts bin and put gears on my old SS mt bike.
I forgot to take pics before I started so here's an in-process picture and a picture of the after.... 20230524_142209.jpg20230524_144440.jpg

Lol I’ll keep her thanks!
I don’t think my bracket will fit 24’s as they have a different upper coolant flange, HOWEVER, I stole the general idea from another guy’s 24 valve build. I’ll see if I still have the link for that thread somewhere.

Edit: FOUND IT!

Got the sanding and prep finished on teh 4 bookcase modules and got them and their shelves about 2/3 stained today. Ran out of places to safely handle them, so called it quits on that for the day. Got too many projects going on at once, like usual. So bad and the summer heat is already ramping up, I wound up splitting my list in 3 columns - 1) stuff to do outside in the less warm morning hours, 2) stuff to do inside the garage before it gets too hot in there, 3) stuff to do inside the house.

Installed and trimmed out the new door I picked up yesterday at HD. Everything went pretty smooth. Also finished installing the screen material into the screen frame. That also turned out pretty good I think. All in all a good day and one step closer to getting the new office done.

Packed up some Powder **** and tackled the final white blast on the cast iron Hotel Morton sign with plans to get the first color done this evening.

But the farmer came and mowed the second field to the east, and "my" farmer was right on his heels to fluff and bail what he mowed yesterday for his cows in my field to the east ... and with the wind being out of the east too bringing unacceptable dust and floaties essentially forced a short day.

It'd be nice to get a heads up call or message so I can work around them but few seem to realize (or care) how their actions impact others these days.

Replaced a broken belt on my lawn tractor. While the deck was off I swapped out the blades for the sharp spares. I must have hit a stump, one of the blades was off the star on the mandrel and boogered it up. A little Dremel action and the blades fit fine.
Pulled and sharpened the blades from the walk behind and the Big Wheel too.

Was gonna move some tools I bought at a farm sale into the garage. My somewhat vintage opener that was there when we bought the house has an issue. The motor wants to keep spinning when it is fully opened. I believe this is some type of limiter switch that should trip but gets hung up and seems kinda broken. Not sure if such a switch is available any more. I will have to research it and see if its a cheap fix, I don't have time to deal with putting a new opener in just yet, still busy rehabbing the house. :(
