Safety trumps aesthetics every time and in every way.

I cut my hand and had a BIG bandage. I heard 10 days of stories about tool related injuries and nerve damage. Do you want to be a storyteller?
Safety does trump aesthetics, that is why only foolish people buy ChiCom electrical products, and don't gimme any BS about it being listed, been reading about UL's abysmal, shameful antics w/ EC grade aluminum wiring in the 1960's & 1970's.

several yearsa go CBC did a show on electrical stuff from there. power bars that were CSA rated with what looked like a 12 or 10 gauge cord was all just plastic. the copper was like 20 or 22 gauge

I have more respect for CSA, then UL, for years my comment has been that UL listed Zinsco, FPE, is a different situation.

I bought a bunch of Chinese imported safety switch’s similar to this on Amazon and virtually all had high contact resistance. I contemplated wiring one up to see if the safety switch would smolder
Or catch on fire. I ended up just throwing them all away and buying quality industrial grade ones. For home use I just buy US or Euro industrial ones off of eBay.

What???

ChiCom is bad.
UL is bad. (US made stuff)
Vintage 60 /70s stuff is bad

is there anything from anytime that is good?

It's obvious that you find all electrical stuff fraudulent or dangerous. Maybe you should take up Amish Farming - they don't use electricity.

Send them back. Review them as Garbage. Let the rest of us know with your review that they are garbage. Amazon will not pay for the return shipping and and they will tell you to throw them out. Once Amazon takes enough losses they will drop the supplier.

..... CSA rated .....
CSA has gone down hill.

When I started in electrical / electronics it was VDE, CSA, then UL for quality. NOw there is all this CE stuff. It is NOT TESTED, it is certified. I can wake up in the morning, read the relevant CE spec and certify things in the afternoon. There is no product testing, there is no certification for the people that certify stuff. CE is a joke and CSA and UL followed down the ****** hole.

CE outside of Europe means nothing & it is a self certification.

I'm down to one of those Amazon push button switches on a half or 3/4 HP band saw. They are hard to push which is my main complaint. They may be cheap, IDK, I just don't like a toggle switch on a saw.

What is an intermediate quality switch anymore?

I have been contemplating a new switch for my similar Jet 14" drill press. Who's safety type switch is recommended? I've debated epoxying up a larger overlay to make it easier to turn it off.
