I have been looking for a high capacity air compressor, this popped up at a local estate sale, they want $150
I see the new equivalent sells for about $4k new.
I assume the price is really good, but don’t know much about these.
Anything I should look for when checking it out?
Any thoughts?

Is the second day 25% off? If so, it will be $112.50. See if they will take $100.

I wouldn't call a single cylinder compressor "High Capacity"... not even close. That compressor will be great for airing up tires and blowing dust off stuff, but don't expect a great deal more than that.

That ain't no $4000 compressor new but it's definitely worth $150 if it works.:) IMO if you need one $150 is worth taking a chance on.

That type of Atlas Copco compressor probably starts at $3000 new nowadays, but that is an older version.

I guess that’s what I was getting at, when I searched atlas copco compressors the new listings for their compressors were in the thousands.
Doesn’t matter, didn’t get to buy it. 😂

Sorry.
Atlas Copco stuff is made for industrial use, and should be durable snd rebuildable, if you get another chance.

I remember that compressor from back as a kid. It's a 60 gallon tank, single stage. Probably 3-4 hp. Max CFM of around 10-12. Entry level compressor. They don't sell anything like it now. The pump design on current ones is completely different. The current version of that compressor when they were still making it (it's disco'ed) cost around $1500. It's a great deal at the asking price though. Just not comparable to a $3K-4K compressor today.

Here is a Champion (which is a good line) 7.5hp 80 gallon tank that is $3200. 1035 rpm on the pump means it will be relatively quiet. Saylor Beall IMO is top of the line but they are very expensive. Champion is a good brand, still made here in the US. Definitely a step up from an IR of comparable size. Last compressor I got was a 7.5 IR, wish I had stepped up and paid the extra for a Champion.
