Ok one more sale, this one was an estate sale in a very well to do part of town and not much interested me in the pics other than a couple of socket sets. This sale was a little unusual in that it didn't open until 3 PM, I got there around 3:30 and was happy to see that the socket sets were still there in addition to a few other pieces I liked.

Stevens Walden 3/8 and 1/4 inch sets. Sadly the 1/4 inch set is missing the hinge/breaker, if anyone has one from this era in mint condition let me know and I'll buy or trade for it! Prices marked are what I paid.

If anyone knows what the S wrench set is, please let me know. No brand markings. I think I probably overpaid for this at $10, but it kinda spoke to me with the cool holder. The Dunlap combo set, Pexto monkeywrench, and Petersen vise grips were another $10.
IMG_4712.jpg

Grabbed a couple vises, the little clamp on is only marked "Made in USA" so if anyone knows more about this I'd appreciate it ($4). The Craftsman is a Japanese version but should be a good user and my buddies are always looking for cheap user vises, at $8 I'd consider it "inexpensive":ROFLMAO:

IMG_4713.jpg
Finally, bought a couple axes but already gave one away so no pics. Here's the Demon which I believe was made by Kelly Works. $5 for yet another rehanging project!

Not my era, but I did have a 1/2-inch set I traded to OTG. Those are cleeeeeeaaaaan! Wow.

Jury still out, but one strong theory is Vlchek. They look cad. I would've leapt at those for $10 maybe especially because of the holder. But I avidly collect "S" wrench sets.

Well if you want this set they’re yours. They look cad to me too.

I went back to that digger sale I hit on Friday, and found a few things worth bringing home:
52984556459_99495b7581_c.jpg
Dovetail box, drill index, Ray-O-Vac light (no batteries inside, so no battery corrosion!), Stanley plane, adjustable wrench, early ratcheting wrench, wooden box, Mag-na driver, machine brush, Mossberg bicycle wrench, two flat head drivers, Thorsen swivles, misc. sockets, Starrett calipers, rifler file, Singer style driver, Lufkin tape measure in holster, Armstrong combo, various brace bits. Mossberg Ford wrench.
Also, on the book front, found these inside the house:
52984879308_eaf142e9dc_c.jpg
Most of a set of automobile trade manuals from 1919, and this little gem:
52984796290_f1de1a3a61_c.jpg
An interesting set of crime stories from 1937.

I was surprised by how much was left when I got there at 10am, although the few things I was hoping to still be around were gone at that point. Which, on the bright side, I need more projects like a hole in my head.

Who cares?
Or, who gives a Sheet?
It's just a 2023 Garage Sale purchase

Genog- oldman roger's comment was a compliment, not derogatory. He was saying you made a good find on the ratcheting wrenches. As the thread host I am actually keeping tally of "*****" received by each indivual. In other words, good on you! I think you misunderstood OMR's comment ;)

Which edition is this? I have the 1917 edition which is only 5 volumes when complete, and I see yours would be 6 volumes.

It is the 1919 edition, which, going by the copywrite dates inside, would be the 8th printing. I am now going to have to track down volumn 5, as I will need to complete the set.

In other used finds , I did pick up this used Webber master series charcoal grill. It was only used for 2 months. The fb market place deal included the grill, charcoal chimney, cover and briquettes for $70. That’s a good deal considering that the master series by itself retails for $229😳. So happy Father’s Day to myself 😆. Plus my wife was on board because it freed up more room in our dog run area👍. Win win for everyone

I'm not riled up....

So.....instead of me saying - Who gives a sheet
.....which was taken the wrong way

I should have just taken more of a laissez faire approach

...brought home a few things.
If you brought home everything in the photos, that's a massive haul!

I have a couple of those Westinghouse 'Rectigon' single vacuum diode battery chargers, two different sizes. Thread for them linked here down on the vintage board if you care to post additional photos, see others, or read more. I did not find any original literature with mine, which were well-used. That "Form B" with the graphics is a very nice accessory.

No need for me to use the ignore button, just a miss understanding.

Like Smokeshow mentioned, getting a “You ****” in this thread is a good thing, who ever gets the most “You *****” wins. I know Ross Perot wouldn’t approve, but you get used to it..lol

I’m still lamenting my left behind item yesterday. The Coldspot refrigerator is a Sears brand that would stop production in 1976 when it was replaced by kenmore. The refrigerator was in a basement and would have required to be extracted up a whole flight of stairs. I would have also needed to have a proper furniture dolly and several friends to help muscle it up to ground level. Also the impending “must be out by 5pm” didn’t help my cause. Just ***** have to have to walk away from something so cool. It looked like this. The v handle was intact and working 😯

I have had good luck swinging by a sale the day after and swooping on things like this, Smoke. I am sure you know a Craftsman collector or two who could help you, and I bet that it is still there and they would LOVE someone to wrestle that out of the basement for them.

That Coldspot is way cool (pun intended!), Smoke! My 1948 version (Post in thread '2014 Garage sale thread!' https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/2014-garage-sale-thread.230345/post-4354876) is on of my most prized picks and is still chugging away in my garage 9 years later. Funny, you were the first person to reply to my post back then.

If you can at all swing it, go back and get it. Hire someone off the street, if you have to.

Ha ha. I love it. I’ll get one some day. Preferably one that is on ground level and when I am prepared so I can bring a lift gate truck.

I found the same Walden 1/4” drive box with a few tools in it a couple of months ago. I couldn’t find it in a catalog so I gave it my best shot on what should go in it. Unfortunately, I don’t have an extra flex handle but they aren’t particularly rare. IMG_8472.jpegIMG_8541.jpegIMG_8539.jpegIMG_8540.jpeg

Lots of great finds and deals recently but I really want to hear Lugz play that 'triangle'.
Snerk. If someone talks me through how to post a short video (or GIF?), I would gladly provide a recital! It makes a very loud and impressive ringing!

Seriously, but also funny, all the guys with OCD for disorder will appreciate that it bothers me that the guy who welded it together was not consistent. Two of the wrenches have the major markings on the same side, but the other one is on the flip side. This will perpetually annoy me. :)

I was probably just going to go to Royal Oak flea market, but will probably go to breakfast for Father’s Day. I forgot about it.

We went to Greenmead, in Livonia, a couple weeks ago.
I was in Livonia 3 weeks ago. Did good there then went up to manistee and on the way back hit some good yard sales in Cadillac guy had 6 boxes of tools 1 full of screwdrivers one full of pliers and punch’s 2 full of wrench’s and 2 full of sockets.. everything was 4 for a dollar.. lot of **** and good ****. I went threw all of it.. this was before I joined I should have taken a picture because the post office wrecked my box and I lost good punches and some snap on screwdrivers and some wrench’s . i took most of the Armstrong Williams proto Mac and the specialty screwdrivers got 1 plvmb sliding breaker bar… if it wasn’t for the price of shipping I could have really hit pay dirt as there was a bunch of sk( Wayne ) and old craftsman wrench’s.. probably could have got full sets of wrench’s and sockets .. as it is my one package was 27 pounds and by the time it landed in califorina it was probably 22…

Have actually been out to some sales lately, it'll take a while for me to sort through everything but here are a few of the things I still have laying around in the dining room:ROFLMAO:

This was an interesting sale, the pics had bins full of tools but when I pulled up it was a gated apartment/townhouse complex. I wasn't feeling too optimistic until I got into the garage and saw a bunch of bins full of wrenches and sockets. Initially I was looking at some of the larger wrenches and the gals running the sale said everything in that bin was $5-$10ea so I almost turned around and left. But then they pointed at another bin and said "as much of this as you can fit in a gallon ziplock you can have for $25". So I got to work! I was amazed at how much I got in there and they didn't give me any flak about the ends of the wrenches sticking out of the bag:LOL:

Armaloy combos:

IMG_4705.jpg

Armaloy long pattern combos:

IMG_4706.jpg

Herbrand, Craftsman, Armstrong 3/8" ratchets, rest of it is pretty run of the mill although I'm a fan of the Indestro DBEs
IMG_4707.jpg

Craftsman =v= combos
IMG_4708.jpg

The rest of the haul...top is VV, bottom is VA, bottom left is metric. I did have to pay an extra $4 for the mini anvil!
IMG_4709.jpg
Nice haul ! Cool story .
A big You **** !

Catching up after the weekend...
@bmwrd0 ***** for the watch staking kit, bench block, and granite surface plate!
@bmwrd0 ***** for the watch staking kit, bench block, and granite surface plate!
@3baygarage ***** for the free-for-all via his uncle!
@Davefr ***** for the "priced to sell" estate sale. That oversized Power Arm is cool!
@Private Lugnutz ***** for Lugz 2023_20. Love the gas can and great story about the triangle. Too bad the guy who welded it wasn't paying attention to orientation.

Love the gas can...
Thanks! Turns out, in inimitable GJ Garage Sale Thread fashion, that it's a kerosene can, tank, or reservoir, for a kerosene heater or stove. Thanks to @WisJim for steering me in that direction on it, to @Outlawmws for noggining it out with me, and to @Provincial and @mikeinri for sharing helpful research. Much more info and pics on the 'Metal containers, cans, etc' thread down on the VB.

Found these Lightening Pliers today. I've never heard of Hjorth Tool Corporation before. Couldn't pass up the $5 price tag on these odd pliers. These are 12" long & are very heavy. Has a screwdriver & a nail puller on the end of the handles.
