Just some detail on my install. Unit is up high on the far end. 12K unit, blows OK but not like most IMHO. I forget where we got it and the brand, I'll have to look. IIRC it's a 10.5 SEER. There is a 42" ceiling fan running on medium in the center of the shop. I bought a 15A timer at HD, it's set to run 5pm - 10pm on weekdays.

After one hour - clock is half way down a long wall.

Outside temp from the house weather station. Sensor is 16' up off the ground.

20 degree drop is probably all you can expect, especially for a building that is probably not tight. I like that weather station.

I got the station as a close out at Academy of all places for $40. The only thing it doesn't have is wind direction. That's what trees are for?

The shop AC is fine for me, I'm impressed at how well it does work. I re-read my first post and I really didn't give enough detail. Oops - Not thinking well! The building has R-13 wall, R-13 ceiling with 4 each 4'x4' uninsulated panels for attic access. Two 2-0 x 5-0 double pane windows in the far end, 7x8 insulated steel door and one 32" steel man door. By about 7pm, the shop is down around 84F.

I've done a lot of work on the house - when we first moved in, the shop was 100x better insulated and sealed than the house. The shop is reasonably tighter than the house, being that the house was built in 1926. Now they would be comparable in most areas. Still some wall work needed on the house. House has R-13 wall in most spots and R-19 plus in the attic. That's all old blown in plus 6" batts.

It's really hot this week, and next. I'll have to experiment with the AC unit on #5 and see how it does after an hour run time.
