LED screw in bulbs

Somehow I didn't see any threads that cover these, although certainly one must exist.

I have some Barinas, thanks to GJ guidance.

I do have three light fixtures, and would like to maximize them. They are in close proximity to my workbench and toolbox.

With Prime Day, I figured I'd pick some up.

Looking for feedback from folks who have used them, and am hoping that a recommendation comes up on sale next week. I did see these on an early sale, but assume that they are relatively disposable.

I suppose I may be overthinking such a cheap purchase as well.

What size base (the threaded connection part) are you looking for? Common light bulbs are screw in and very common. From your link you are looking for something bigger? You need to describe what you are looking for with some details.

Not positive I’m answering your question correctly, so feel free to clarify if I get it wrong. They are a standard light socket, just looking to upgrade the bulb. Attached a picture if that helps.

If I was doing it I think I would replace that socket with a 4' tube fixture and put LED tubes in it. Mount the tube fixture over the box and the swap is easy. Looks like you could use some additional lights in other places too. Rather than fishing wires in the finished ceiling you could run to some additional fixtures with surface conduit.

I would favor a tube fixture as well but the screw in multiple LED's are not necessarily disposable in the sense they won't last.

Funny you say that. My dad gave me three of them. First one physically broke as I threaded it in. He told me he had a few break the same way. Could have been a different vendor than yours, I’m sure there are plenty of identical ones.

I've got a bunch setup in my basement and they have had issues with flickering, flashing on/off, not sure if I've got too many bulbs on one circuit or if the bulbs are bogus, but for their claimed lifespans I haven't been super impressed so far. Philips bulbs too, not expected from the bigger names, totally expected from a pennies per option.

They seemed to be well made but within 3-6 months start flashing and then eventually die. Once my fluke charges up I'll be trying to see what exactly is failing. Other than that bit of entertainment they have been very disappointing. Anyone know of ones that actually have a longer life ?

Bought a bunch of the ones from Dollar Tree (don't laugh!) and they work ok but that lifespan thing is a lot of BS. Had several that either start flashing on and off or just go dark. They are cheap though a $1.00-$1.25 per. They HAD them in daylight and warm white both but only see the warm white ones lately. Mike.

Linear will outperform a single point source. The issues with the fixture that the OP linked is that it's 6500K, which is a very weird blue color that most people dislike and also that it's 16,000 lumens, which is too much for mounting over a workbench or toolbox. Finally, these deformable lights are absolutely horrible. The glare is completely out of control, there is no logic in the direction of the light and the quality is usually very bad.
Put a linear surface mount up for general illumination, then use a smaller task light over workbenches.

I have used about 10 different versions of that light you linked. Several of them have had very high RFI that caused interference with garage door openers, and ham radio if matters to anyone. About half of them stopped working in 2 years or less. A couple of them seem to be lasting well and are nicer. I didn't buy any of them, my brother gave them to me when I moved into my house a couple years ago. I plan to put up nicer tube style LED lights but was using the freebies since I had them.

I converted my workshop to the Screw in LED modules, big improvement over the F40 tubes they replaced.

I am using the A shaped Edison Based LED lamps in my porch lights, they work fine.

I've got 2 lights in the garage very similar to this, made a huge difference over the 150w incandescent bulbs that were originally installed. They're definitely not comparable to LED tubes though.

They'll get replaced when I properly rewire the garage, but that will come after the shop is done.

I am no longer buying Incandescent Lamps for anything other than heaters.

I do have a bank of Incandescent Lamps to load my generator for testing.

Lowes and HD both have screw in replacement bulbs. If you want bright, crisp, and clean, stick with the ones marked "Daylight".
