Does anyone know what this is used for? It's a half inch drive marked 13/16 CR-MO. The top has nut type grooves. Thanks.

Removal tool then... very popular even today. I wonder when that is from.
I did a google after KnurledNut said what it was, and I found ones just like it. I have a Craftsman Set but it doesn't look like that.

Yea... the modern "extractors" that I have... have a much more angled thread. Providing a bite with a bit of hammering before twisting off. YOURS however look like it was meant to simply left twist it on. Very interesting design. Thanks for sharing.
