Added some Stahlwille 12pt 1/2” chromes to my work box. My shop has been slowly but steadily transitioning to metric stuff so I have been shrinking my SAE sockets and wrenches down to just the most used sizes. So I went down to four sockets in 1/2” drive and brought the full set home. Will be doing it to my 3/8” set soon enough. I’ll just have one rail of shallow SAE sockets spanning 1/4”-1/2” drives with just the sizes I need in each. It will save a ton of space.

My new Makita dust blower. So much better the buying cans of computer air duster.

I wonder if this cuts down on the potential spraying of condensate.

I know if you hold down the spray button on those cans of compressed air too long, some condensate begins to blow out of the nozzle. Which is obviously not good if spraying down electronics.

I was looking at painting-related things at Lowe's website, they showed a scraper that was better than my current scraper, I went to Amazon to look at that scraper some more, and the next thing you know, Amazon is showing me Bahco scrapers and they have oodles of rave reviews. Well, I already know to pay attention when Bahco makes something! (Previous purchases include some garden pruners for a very good price from Harry J. Epstein, then a bow saw.)

IMG_4247.jpg

Tiny triangle scraper comes with a belt holster, and goes in pointy-end first. Pretty neat!

Bahco started in Sweden, appears to have production all over Europe, and since Snap On gobbled them up, HQ is in France. Also known around GJ for their pipe wrench pliers, or as Rainman Ray calls them, "angry pliers."

Some of those "electric blowers"... tend to start blowing HOT HOT HOT. I wonder if they fixed that unwanted feature.

Thanks for the heads up. Just placed an order at Amazon-US. Total cost $67.42. Koken-USA price is $130.50
The ratchet is not in stock, and there is a wait time of 4-6 weeks from Amazon-Japan.

It took 14 days to get here from the time I ordered it.

The price is right! The length is good! Quick release button and flippy levers are my bag!

But I finally arrived in Dual 80 land and the trips to the ratchet buffet have to stop! Also, the handle looks too small in diameter for my meat hooks.

I can still resist 'em for now. Not saying I didn't just order another Ko-ken double-universalish joint.

I have XL sized paws also. The grip could be longer for sure - always my only compliant with Koken ratchets - but I’ve either gotten used to it or subconsciously learned how to hold it so that it feels just fine.

I got tired of my HF transfer punches rounding over. McMaster sells the made in USA RL Spellman punches, but it was cheaper to buy directly from them. while I was there, I figured I might as well get Number, Letter, and Metric sets as well.

I picked this up a few months back and just got around to printing a holder for it. A Klein painless moisture meter.

It would be a lot cheaper if I could just stick to one hobby.

A last best tool youtube video alerted me to this VIM 5/16” hex hand impact bit set. Under $10 at Amazon. The flat blades have a nice variety of thicknesses, which can really help when you’re having to use a hand impact on a slotted screw.

Todays McMaster order completed my set of aircraft length drill bits (6”).

I was roaming around Harbor Freight looking for something for my 25% off coupon and ended up with this new arrival.

I haven’t filled it yet, but it looks identical to my SureShot sprayers.

Can I ask, what do most of you use the sprayers for? I have a few I have picked up at yard sales, but honestly have never used them. I bought them knowing one day I might need one, just don't know what for.

I keep one with WD-40, one with Acetone and one with brake cleaner, all of which I buy in gallon or larger jugs. I'll probably use the new one for paint thinner for wiping down projects prior to painting. I really like them. You can get different nozzles for stream, mist, or cone spray.

Does that HF one come with the different nozzles or does HF sell them separately, or where do you get the various nozzles that you're sure will fit it?

The nozzle statement was referring to my original SureShot ones, not the HF. I just went out and verified that they do not have the same tips. The SureShot looks to be a 3/8" pipe thread and the HF unit looks to have an M10x1.0 thread. I wasn't very clear in my wording there, sorry.

Now I am going to have to make an adapter.

Had to wait a bit for these beauties but they are finally mine. Not cheap but the wrenches are forged in Germany so they are a bit of a novelty in a Taiwanese dominated area. I can’t believe how slim the heads are. I really like these wrenches and the metal box they came in. Two big thumbs up!

Cross-posting from the Epstein's Day thread. (I totally spaced on July 4/Epstein's Day! Made my order earlier in the week.)

Left to right:

Hyde 5-in-1 (Canada)
Hyde Chisel Putty Knife (China)
Ko-ken 1/2" dr. double swivel joint (Japan)
Channellock 6-in-1 (America)
T shirt (America) -- and it's not super thick! Which means at this time of year I have a chance of wearing it in a month or two. Big Al (the cat) has a sticker on his helmet that reads, "I (heart) meow union."
