Does anyone know if Wright made a 1/4" drive ratchet with a rubberized handle? I have assembled quite a collection of "tootsie roll" drive tools. It would be nice to have one to go with it's bigger brothers.

I'm not sure what the pn# would be, I thought the standard length tootsie grip ratchet in 3/8 is 3400 and 4400 in 1/2 drive. 2400 is the pn on the older discontinued 1/4 knurled handle. Then again, in 1/2 drive Ive seen ratchets with both tootsie grip and knurled handle, both 15", same pn 4425.

I have two 2400 Wright 1/4" ratchets and they both have knurled steel handles. I have seen lots and lots of "tootsie roll" models in both 3/8" (#3400) and 1/2" (#4400) drive on Ebay (in both Wright and Powr-Kraft brands) but I have yet to see a 1/4" "tootsie roll" listed there.

The more I think about it, it would be a cumbersome thing to use with that fat plastic handle on it - the #2400 is a tiny unit.

Yeah, can't see the need for a tootsie roll in the 1/4" either. (I was thinking the same thing the other day though. There's something to be said about having matching sets. I just picked up a Wright 3/8 breaker bar with a tootsie roll handle and a 1/2 ratchet with a tootsie roll handle!)

But I guess we shouldn't be torquing 1/4" fasteners so much so as to necessitate a comfort grip... But I guess in cold weather it might be nice. But during those times, just crack out something with a rubberized handle. Like a Toptul 1/4" ratchet!

They look ugly but feel great and can be had for cheap on the used market. Just bought a 1/2 one for $ 9.25 shipped. I guess Wright never saw the nerd for a 1/4 tootsie roll.

For those of us on the other side of the pond, what on earth is a 'tootsie roll'????

The tootsie roll is a chewy chocolate candy. The candy has changed shape, but used to be a rod shape, about 5 inches long and about 3/4 inch in diameter, with grooves cut in it about every inch. One style of handle on Wright ratchets looks like the older shape of the candy bar.

You could always take a Wright 1/4'er and put a layer or two of heat shrink tubing on the handle. Build up whatever thickness you need, the tubing is cheap, and can be removed later if it tears or you tire of it.
Heat shrink tubing has become a good friend on ratchets with worn or damaged or slippery handles.

I often wondered myself. I have the 3/8" and 1/2" tootsie roll ratchets and also a 3/8" offset tootsie roll ratchet

All of my Wright supplied Powr-Kraft tootsie roll ratchets are either 3/8” or 1/2” drive. All of the Wright made 1/4” drive Powr-Kraft ratchets have metal handles.
