Picked up some Snap On Torx T-handles

What do you plan to use those on out of curiosity? I’ve always just ran Torx fasteners out with a cordless ratchet/impact/normal ratchet. I’ve seen a use for the really long torx screwdrivers but haven’t ran into a situation where these would be a must have.

They are really nice when you are doing bench work, stuff like chainsaws or other projects that are not "on car".

Thats my opinion anyways

I looked up that 12v Bosch and it's a good deal. I see the Bosch 18v is going for $99 bare tool. I love those little 12v Bosches because they're so light and nimble, but the tradeoff is more power. What's a guy to do? Well, a guess the respectable GJ thing would be to purchase both. But then why not get more power...

Bosch 18-volt 1/4-in; 1/2-in Variable Speed Brushless Cordless Impact Driver (Bare Tool)

fall of the wagon did ya?
2 years....... that must be some kind of GJ record. New thread topic.......... longest interval between buying any tools since becoming a member of GJ.:)
That Bosch impact, and a Warner 8 in 1 that I bought at lowes 2 or 3 summers back.
I sold and down sized prior to moving. I figured sell while I was still in the North East where I could get more money for my stuff compared to down here plus I didn't feel like I needed a Snap On box for home use.

I am eyeing up some more Engineer items and a small Snap On set that I want a spare of.

Yep I bought them for the smaller projects that I don't like to use the impact on. That and I wanted to complete the T-Handle set. I already have the metric and standard version as well.

Bought some stuff today.

Snap On CTR817 in the blue color. Wanted a long neck 1/4” for awhile. Sadly only came as a package with a battery, but oh well. At least it was finally in stock. I guess rounding up and making it a dozen 14.4 batteries isn’t terrible lol.

Also bought a Blue Point 3/8” 7/8 shallow 6pt socket to live on top of a AST oil filter cup.

Finally got a Snap On Dixxon Flannel in my size as well. Been wanting one and trying to get one for like 3 years. Finally lucked out and got a XL with my purchase today.

Some Schley extension converters.

IMG_0408.jpgIMG_0409.jpg

I had no idea what those were! Just got back from Schley's website, and:

The 15950 Extension Protectors Deluxe Kit consists of two ½” square drive male and female hammers that connect to any length ½” drive extension, effectively protecting the extension operational ends should it be otherwise used as a hammer or drift. Our 15950 Protector Kit is the custom female hammer that accepts the three interchangeable hammer heads included in the kit. These hammer heads are made of nylon, aluminum, and steel for use in multiple purposes. The extension protectors expand the range of ordinary tools found in any toolbox. One example is using a long socket ½”-drive extension as a drift to knock something loose, provide clearance in a sheet metal panel or drive a bolt located in a tight area where a conventional hammer will not reach. Banging on the ends of expensive extensions causes the ends to mushroom and in time making it inoperable and will not fit on either a ratchet or socket. These specialty tools are precision machined from heat treated alloy steel and allow the use of a normal socket extension as a drift without causing damage. This hammer set is versatile, works with ordinary ½”-drive tools and the hammer heads are designed for a variety of uses.

FEATURES:

  • Protects both ends of any length socket extension.
  • ½”-drive stand socket drive compatible.
  • Includes three interchangeable hammer heads made of nylon, aluminum, and steel.
  • Slim low-profile hammers-heads designed to reach limited access and tight areas.
  • Male and female parts to fit both ends of the extension.

Yeah. Seems like it's gonna be useful. Always wanted absurdly long drifts. Bonus that there are different material heads included.

You should show us some pictures of these in use. I'd be curious how you like them.

(This was in response to the beta pliers)

Neat! I had no idea Skilkraft was making that sort of thing.

Wikipedia entry includes this sentence: "In 2015, Skilcraft introduced a new line of products which included screwdrivers and socket wrenches."

Introductory paragraph:

"Skilcraft, often stylized as SKILCRAFT, is the registered trade name of the National Industries for the Blind (NIB).[1] Products made by Skilcraft are created largely by visually impaired or severely disabled individuals. Products bearing the Skilcraft brand are commonly used in United States federal government institutions, including the United States Postal Service. They are also commonly sold in U.S. military base exchanges and commissaries."

Now that's a cool tool. Looks like it does one job but does it well?

It came up in this thread a week or two before I got mine; somebody else brought it to our attention. I guess it does two jobs -- in aviation, used to clean up a spot before a rivet goes in? And then somebody came here and said, "look at this neat brush that makes quick work of dirty ring terminals."

Center punch and chisel, pull the rear back and let her fly, they hit pretty hard depending on how far you pull it back, don't think I ever used my chisel,
Yup. I've also used the center punch to extract broken machine thread screws.
