Amazon is selling fake Craftsman?
Amazon sells fakes of everything. Don't believe me Google it. There is a very high likelihood if it doesn't look right it isn't. They have become known for a high percentage of fake merchandise of all types. Some of them are pretty impressive in their appearance.
That *****. Use Amazon a bunch as free shipping and I'm out of town a bunch.

I had a handful of Craftsman stuff from my brother and dad. Just a few basic wrenches and screwdrivers. All were pretty good and others I knew bought mostly Craftsman. I went back in to electrical work in 1995 and bought some stuff at Sears. The Craftsman hacksaw at the time was great and only $12. Screwdrivers would break tips within a week or 2. I looked at various pliers and cutters where blades didn't line up. I did buy a lot of their control screwdrivers, as they had them by the piece at good prices. They didn't need high torque as much and were OK. I bought their rolling toolbox that was great. So they had a mixed bag of quality at the time but it sure seemed to go down from there. Now I would only buy Craftsman as a last resort.

I use snapon stuff at work but one of the lof guys has some hf wrenches and I was surprised at the quality. WaY better than their older stuff
I still use the Craftsman screwdrivers from early 2000s.
No Harbor Freight here.
For the most part these budget tools will suffice for casual DIY fixes. It is when using them for more than a few turns and torquing up-down applications one will develop preferences. I'd like some SO yet for what I do that is a cost ratio for an under utilized tool in the drawer.

If you have older Craftsman raised panel wrenches & need replacements or sizes to round out the set, used USA-made on eBay is the way to go IMO.
Been using those wrenches for over 20 years. Several of those years in a shop.
Same with Craftsman sockets.
My Dad was a Millwright for almost 40 years. Mostly Craftsman, Harbor Freight and a few odd and end specialty tools.

Yeah when I first seen those popping up in Lowes I was like man what a disappointment. As much as I hate to say it the Chinese ones were better than the India made ones you have pictured. Nowadays i don’t even bother with the Craftsman wrenches unless it’s the gunmetal ones but they are crazy expensive. Now with Husky also being made in India as well and limited Kobalt selection I’ve resulted to Rural King or the auto parts stores when I need a individual wrench. But I got my Snap-on and Craftsman USA ones at work as well as some at home too.

A problem with Amazon is their model with third party sellers involves getting third party product, chucking it on the shelf in a big pile with all the other product of that type, and when someone orders it, ship one from the pile at random. So Amazon and twenty other sellers buy a bunch of genuine product and one seller buys a bunch of fakes and it’s all mixed up together, most customers get genuine and the odd one gets fake.
Top product I won’t buy from Amazon: durex.
Amazon is becoming my least of places to buy stuff even when they state "shipped-sold" by Amazon. As mentioned they throw together other merchants sourced stuff so those may not be genuine. What helps is the easy return but if one is on a timeline and needs it right away, those returns are a PITA.
Plenty of good USA Husky and Craftsman at pawn shops. Some look really good while others beat so that makes it fun to hunt if playing that game. I wouldn't mind finding some older mid-later 90's GearWrench combi wrenches or the ratcheting variants. The single I bought was a long pattern 10mm.

How do you know the new wrench *****? Will it loosen or tighten a bolt?
Never been in a pawn shop, so dunno. They are usually in the ghetto areas.

Yes, I still have a Craftsman #3 Phillips. It was/is better than most of theirs. I mainly used it on door frames when installing various switches or sensors. One of the few places where #3 screws were common. Occasionally on electrical floor boxes.
