Sorry I use a translator sometimes it fails
Having worked in most South American countries and many Central American countries, I truly appreciate the effort that people make when English is their second language. I ended up renting a car once, when I thought that I was ordering a taxi. (Long before smart phones). 😂

Picked up this Snap-On compression tester from eBay for lest than 1/3 the cost of new. Came with a 18mm and two 14mm, one with short threads and one with long threads? Anyone know the purpose of the short and long thread 14mm? Why would the short thread 14mm not work for any application the long one would? They are the same thread pitch.

I don't know, but my best guess is "something to do with Ford "Modular"* V-8's"? The ones with the funky long spark plugs get all of the bad press (rightly so) but the danged reliable 4.6L 2V motors, those normal spark plugs have very few threads to engage with in the cylinder head, I think. So maybe it avoids a BAMMO! with a hose fitting sticking in so far it hits a piston?

* Not all that modular.

While at Menards attending to a vise return, I picked up this Metabo brad nailer on sale for $49:

It's not that there was anything wrong with my Wen brad nailer, which has been dependable, but this is so much nicer, and for the price I could not pass it up.

Got my metric CAT sockets in sometime last week. Shallow and deep in 1/4" and 3/8" Drive. Last pic is a comparison to a SO socket I have.

1/4" Shallow 200-8413

1/4" Deep 194-3578

3/8" Shallow 214-6620

3/8" Deep 553-1198

Since almost everything I have is impact, I wanted some chrome 3/8" sockets and picked up the CAT 3/8" shallow set awhile back when I still worked for CAT.

Unfortunately I no longer get my employee discount, but I picked up the shallow and deep 1/4" sets this afternoon from my former parts guy.
I'll also get the 3/8" deep set next time I have some extra cash.

I need a special wrench to remove the door on my 66 chevelle. There is a snapon version, a Mac version, and some other manufacture (dint remember the name). The snapon version is like 5 times more expensive than the Mac version. The wrench is offset by about 30ish degrees, which the picture doesn’t totally capture.

These door hinge wrenches, especially in the Snap On versions, bring good money on the secondary market. I run into them on occasion when I buy tools from retired bodymen and have always done well on ebay with them. While I'm sure they serve their purpose, I have never had the need for one of them.

Looks like Home Depot will continue to carry Klein products, but in limited quantities. Lowes will be the place to go for the widest selection of Klein tools.

...When everything is set, Lowe’s will have the largest in-store selection of Klein Tools nationwide. From Big Box exclusives like the MODbox mobile work station, Personal Protection Equipment and many core Made in USA SKUs, customers will be able to find all the tools they love, as well as hundreds of new innovative products...

I got myself some Rhino tweezers and some SDS square drives. These are the best damn tweezers I ever had and they are relatively cheap. They are advertised as Japanese (style) tweezers and are made to Swiss standards. No idea where they are made but I guess it's Mainland China. I got them from Aliexpress for ~18.5 € for the 3. I could get 1 of such quality from some name brand for ~40-50 €.

I wasn't exactly looking for a drill press but the Facebook Marketplace algorithm delivered these to my feed at a price I couldn't refuse ($300 total). These came from a woodshop of a univeristy architecture program. The Rockwell needs a decent amount of work but should be a good machine once tuned up. The Delta is functional except for the high/low speed selector which is broken and stuck in the high range. Since I'll mainly be using that one for woodworking, it shouldn't matter too much.

Here's what's new for me.
First, an Astro 93812 Nano Ratchet - Long-handle 3/8" drive in 1/4" ratchet body
Astro 93812.jpg

And a Toyota (4Runner/Tacoma/FJ/Tundra/Lexus GX) rear wheel bearing puller kit. Made in USA, designed to fit on a harbor freight 20 ton which was the main problem we ran into with a different one my nephew had (Vevor?) the last time we did one of these. Hopefully this one won't need to be heavily modified to fit and will survive more than one set of rear wheel bearings. I can say this does seem waaaay better built than that that one was.

Rear Wheel Bearing Puller All Toyota 4Runner FJ Tundra + 1st Gen Taco Lexus GX.jpg

And a separate attachment from the same seller designed to pull the bearing race that always stays stuck on the axle, to hopefully make it a little less risky than cutting it off.

Waffle head vise grip hose clamp pliers.93DFD702-8765-4B1D-986E-B50CE2C2C52B.jpeg

I have a large collection of tools to deal with Roto-clip hose clamps -- because I'm one of the four guys who like those!

These are pretty good! Glad they're still around, as they have come and gone in some other brands (Proto? and maybe GW.)

Saw my “dealer” today for the first time in a while. Didn’t go away empty handed (half of the extensions 👍). And a couple more mini prybars.IMG_4868.jpeg

So that ratchet is comfort grip, flex head with locking indexing... 1/4"? 3/8" dr.? Looks neat.

Bahco S140T Through Ratchet, There's some shock job coming up and I think it'll come in handy.

I've been wanting their S530T set for a while. Anyone looking for a functionally identical option at a fraction, HF carries a decent alternative. The wrench comes in two different forms, one better than the other.

I hesitated between this (€60 $65.82) and the s530t (€120 $131.65) I decided on the s140t because I think the s530t would never use half of the sockets it comes with.

Got these Duralast non marring hook and pick set. Got a price for them on the Matco truck today and they were $33 there. Paid under $13 at Auto Zone they are identical besides the color. Even the country of origin is the same. I’d say it’s one manufacturer making for both places. I can think of tons of places these would be useful. They also have a lifetime warranty so if they break I’ll just bring them in to get replaced. I’ve been doing tons of interior work the last few days so I’m sure these will help. I couldn’t see paying $33 for a bunch of colored plastic. They had one set left. Duralast recently came out with a bunch more tools. Most made in Taiwan so stop by and take a look if you are looking for something special I suspect most to be made by OEM tools as they no longer carry that brand but have their label on everything now. This was the last set they had. First new tools in awhile. Tool trucks haven’t been stopping by work. Haven’t seen Snap-on in months and Mac is just whenever. Matco is the only reliable one but he was on vacation for a couple weeks.

the hook & picks are handy for AC o rings and places where you don't want to scratch something. I found the pry bars to be too flimsy to actually pry a trim panel off aside from maybe the screw plate behind a door handle. Please share how they workout for you
