Caught a CL ad right after it came up this morning. Tool Box with Tools. Called and he was about 2 miles from where I live. Usually by the time I see the ad the stuff is gone.
Can't determine who's box it is, haven't found any markings yet, but I believe it's a Mac. The guy must have been a fan of SK cause there are a lot of SK and SK Wayne pieces. No extensions or breakers but a couple ratchets, a bunch of wrenches and a LOT of sockets - many impact.
Sockets top row L to R; SK Wayne; SK; Snap on; Proto; Cman; Misc.
bottom row L to R; Williams; Blackhawk/Mac; Armstrong; Thorsen; Misc metric.
1/2" Williams BS-56 and 3/8" Blackhawk 34999 ratchets

Some of the stuff is going to need cleaning and am wondering what is the best way to clean rust from the impacts. I seem to remember that Evaporust isn't the thing to use on them.

Wish I was closer, I wouldn't mind that box, depending on the size & drawer setup. Of course, I will be in ohio in a month......

The box is worth saving but needs a lot of work. It's still in the back of the wagon but, if I remember right it's a 7 drawer; 2 wide bottom drawers, deep center drawer and 2 small drawers on each side at the top. I'll take a pic in the morning.
No key, damage to the sides where the locking arms [that are bent] have been hitting for years, a lot of rust and dents.
Once I figure out what it is I'll decide what to do with it.

What someone would pay is a hard question as the value is in what is useful to you. I used to buy and sell socket collections on eBay and there was never much interest other than Snap On. I will pay five dollars for a decent ratchet at an estate sale, a dollar or two for a sellable wrench, Snap On, Mac, SK Superkrome or something people collect in non rusted condition, five dollars for a decent portable tool box. I have a bunch of Kennedy’s. I guess in the end I will pay half of what it would go for on Ebay.

You got some nice stuff there. Impacts with rust, I chuck them up in a battery drill, coat with oil, diesel, or Wd 40 and spin them while holding red scotch brite pad around them. Usually come out ok.

Sounds like a very good idea! Great score on the sockets,I can never find sockets like that. Lastr garage sale I went to the lady showed me a box of maybe 30 sockets all very rusty and all from china;she wanted $100.00 dollars for that little plastic box.

Here's some pics of the box. I couldn't find any markings at all as to the manfacturer. The name plate was located on the bottom right of the front cover. It is 7 drawer, no ball bearing glides, 26"Wx14.5"Hx12"D. I've shown pics of the drawer pulls and the side handle hoping someone could identify it from these. The lid isn't twisted, it's just the way the pic came out.
I'm still thinking it's a Mac.

With that info, you are probably right. It was hard to tell at first, but with the drawer fronts, how the front lid hinges all the way back (I didn't see the piano hinge at first), drawer layout, and description of nameplate.

My assumption is now skewed.

Thanks, Cman
Except for the square drawer location and the SnapOn nameplate being in the opposite corner [not lower right] it's identical. I don't believe that there is trim on the drawer handles, if you look at the dividers in the top section they're there too. Just hi-lights.
I think I'll just clean it up for now and use it. Maybe restore it down the road.

If it were Snap on, it would be stamped on the rear of the box somewhere. Take a bright flashlite and examine the rear of the box closely and you may find the maker. I'm not and expert but I've never seen a SO with that drawer configuration.

Upper right hand corner of the box looking from the back....I have two of Kr55's.

yep your right only hi-lights, look if you can swap the square drawer to the left?

heres more info on to page 4.

http://www.collectingsnapon.com/catalogs/Catalog Z.html

The pic of the 'B' sample illustration is not accurate to the written description. The ill. shows 3 small drawers on the right side and the description says there are (2) 1-11/16 and 2" deep drawers and the 3-1/2 deep drawer.
I am wondering if someone over the years may have modified the box in illustration 'A' by replacing the shallow 3 center drawers with the deep drawer or if it was a variation. I have to figure out how to remove the drawers to see if there was any modifications on the placement of the glides or the possibility that they used the original center glides and left the upper and lower ones there.

I went over the box and couldn't find any mfg'r or date. But the deep box could have been changed from the right side to the center without modifications. The guides for the two seperate drawers and the deep drawer are located dimensionally the same.
