Second post on this box just bought it for 30 bucks. No serial number I looked everywhere. No stamps no stickers. Slides are metal on metal no ball bearings. Did older small boxes like this come with ball bearing? Is metal on metal slides a sign of lower quality brand? Has locking drawers when closing lid. Handles are interesting. Could it be old enough to be USA?

I bought the middle box on the middle stack in this picture in August 1988 for $53 on sale. You may notice some similarity. A few years ago I used some automotive polishing compound and wax on my boxes to bring the color back - some had faded to almost orange. Enjoy your new box! Oh, and most of my boxes have metal on metal slides.

Has locking drawers when closing lid.

The interior of the top compartment and especially the drawer locking bars, looks exactly like an older Craftsman chest (35+ years) I have but my chest has a different drawer look and appears to be more modern.

Had one gentleman solid dude also told me he thought it was a REM. There was another box I was looking at that didn’t have any logos or anything but was told it was a “malco” but he told me it was a jc penny from a certain year and was the exact one. And once again blown away the gentleman here who SERIOUSLY know their stuff!
