Later models had four socket heads. Train inspector would try random bolts and nuts for looseness. He would tighten loose ones and then report them to the shop. The shop would then go over the car to make sure it was within specifications. Can you tell that I am from a railroad town?
I wonder why they have that one open end wrench to swing out from it? Maybe there is one fastener that requires an open end, a pipe fitting or adjuster nut on a long thread?
My knowledge of train related things is very limited, just from watching Casey Jones on the black and white picture TV!

Think I answered my question on largest early socket.

This is a new one for me... 1953 Dated Snap-on N-4200 Ratchet. I can't find anything on this and didn't find it in the catalogs I looked through. It is 3/8" drive with a very plain handle and is 16.5" in overall length.

Nice find. Snapmom and I posted ours earlier in this thread. Posts 2700 and 2702. Not a catalog item. Likely ordered for some application.

I picked up this patents pending TQ-11 Torqometer recently. I am normally not into Snap on but I thought it was pretty cool. I didnt see any others in this thread and was unable to find it in a catalog from a quick search. I have a feeling the handle isn’t original and it is unfortunately locked up. It has a removable drive plug. Anyone have any idea when they started making these?

I picked these up for $3 at a flea market yesterday. Snap On A160A and a Blue Point CF-7. Not sure what the A160A is used for but the CF-7 is a valve tool of some sort I believe.

CF-7 is for holding valve spring keepers for reassembly.

A160A is for removal of some 50's door handle clips

Some odd socks, none of which are listed in the cats.
Three brake sockets, B1402, B1403. B1404, All have 1930 date codes, 1/2 dr. Two have the Snap on name almost removed, (prob. factory). In the 50s these show up with different model numbers.

A four inch high 8 point socket (its a beast) 1/2 dr. 13/16. has a 1928 and 1933 code. no model number.

he found some more. out of about 45 socks, 30 were specials. Five I have not seen.
Did you get the drain plug sockets? Wanna trade or sell them? He definitely had some mislabeled on the paper he used to keep track. I showed J.B. (mutual friend) when I was first putting the deal together and they didn't seem like anything too out of the ordinary based on the blurry picks and his notes. Oh well. If you wanna part with any feel free to shoot me a message. I got a few new oddballs and some extra 4points. Kicking myself for missing out but I did just pick this up so I'll live

The drive end is the later style, typical of 30s. Sometimes date codes are missing or worn off

Another collector showed me where The "Bxxxx" were listed. In the (about 29) Brake Adjusting Supplemental cat.

Everything here was $1.00 apiece from a garage sale yesterday. The 71N is a 41. The ratchet adapter is a 42. 9002, A17,..the S-9363 is a 37 Dodge, Plymouth, DeSoto starter wrench I guess.

Not a starter wrench, but made to access the rear main bearings on a Buick or Chevrolet, if I remember correctly, late 1930s.

Research shows it was made 1937-1942 and is a main bearing wrench, 5/8” opening. There is also a one year s9363A. It seems to be for a Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, or Chrysler. Judging by your other tools, that makes sense, though I could have sworn it was for a Buick.

Research from where? The “specials guide” from the “collecting snap on” site? The guide doesn’t match the catalogs I checked. Not that it really matters, if it fits the nut and the offset helps…

Before I start let me say that the Collecting Snap On site is effin great!... but....Has anyone run into issues with the "specials guide" before? I don't think this is the first time I had questions. Ref. the 9363 discussed above, (besides the obvious discrepancy between what the guide says the wrench is for and what the catalog says), looking at the guide, right off the bat I'm thinking what is different about the 41? description is the same so is it shaped different? the 2nd pic is 37 cat. the 3rd is 41 cat. Is there really even a 9363-A? ( if I just missed it I wouldn't be surprised but..) The "A" in the text appears to be the first word in the description not a suffix of the tool#. an example is in the picture of the Buck headbolt wrench where the dash between the # and the suffix is shorter than the dash between the suffix and the word A.

Hey, did you notice the 15/32 Ford brake socket? the same one you brought up on another thread when we were discussing 7/16 and 1/2" Ford brake wrenches.

Now that I know what it is, I figured I would join! Its also my first snap on tool!

Its a 1945 Snap on AT8022 from a rollsroyce packard merlin tool kit from WWII.

I got it unknowingly as part of an incomplete set of kmart auto japan tools for $1.25 at an antique fair.

Never know what you'll find in a tool box.

They make reproductions. Here is a similar one

20230911_211557.jpg20230911_211541.jpg
Maybe I'll pick one up I think I've seen em on ebay. I suppose it can't hurt since I could always take it off if I have to. I like to stay original as possible besides when I really decide to rig something up like the 5/8 speeder I made that's in the pic or my midget loop handle breaker bar I posted at some point
