I inadvertently left my Milwaukee M18 impact driver on the bumper of my truck couple days ago in the rain and now it has a weird problem. Pick it up pull trigger won't run but if I detach battery and reattach it works fine for as long as I'm using it. Leave it 10 minutes or so and same thing have to detach and reinsert battery to make it run. Was using it yesterday to install some drywall and that wasn't fun.

Tried replacing batteries and changing power settings but same thing keeps happening. Assuming it got wet and messed up the electronics. Anybody have this happen before? Any easy fix or should I just replace it?

Seems to be working today go figure. Had it upside down in my truck last night there must have been some water in it from the other day not playing nicely with the electronics...

My impact does the same with the battery.

No water involved. It was the control board that controlled the |1|2|3|4| settings.
Thanks probably a coincidence then because it was working then started acting up again. Much appreciated. I think I have another one in my truck lol otherwise I'll pick up a new one. I probably use this tool more than anything else and can't deal with having to pull the battery out and reinsert it every few minutes. Definitely got my money's worth out of it probably had it going on 5 years or more. No issues until this week. Appreciate the helpful response.
