Snap-On Impact stopped working.

I think that there was moisture in my air lines last winter, because my Snap On impact wrench has stopped working. I last used it a few months ago, and at the same time, I also used my cut off tool. The cut off tool also stopped working but I was able to loosen it up by turning the wheel by hand, and then putting the air to it. This is what makes me believe that moisture is what has caused the impact to not work. I have put air tool oil into the fitting, but so far, nothing has worked to get the hammers to move. Any suggestions what to do next? HELP......

What exactly is wrong with it? I've got a IM510 that would spin but not hammer and that's a broken pin. SO don't show the pin being available:mad:

So trade it back to the Snappy guy against a new one. They never test them on the truck and (in my experience) never come back bitching later if they find out it doesn't work well.

I don't know if this applies, but I have a crappy Campbell Housfield impact, that did nothing but hiss when I pulled the trigger from the day I bought it.

I took the whole thing apart, and put it back together, and it worked like a charm. I don't know how it worked, but it seems when stuff breaks, just disassembling, and reassembling it works sometimes.

This also happened with my DeWalt drill. The drill part worked, but the torque control didn't no matter what I set it to, it would drill with full force never getting to that ratcheting click that stops you from tearing your screw to shreds.

I took that all apart and put it back together, and it now works how it's supposed to as well.

Please do me a favor and take my whole Land Rover apart and put it back together again.

Well if it was me I'd fill it with penetrating oil and let it sit overnight. The next day I'd try it and if that didn't work I'd beat it off my wooden workbench for awhile.Just to take out some frustration and see if it would break free. After that I'd just take it apart and fix it.

remove the air fitting and submerge the entire gun in transmission fluid. Make sure the air inlet is pointed up so air goes out and fluid can go in. Let it sit a day or too, pull it out and it will probably work. This works good on ratchet wrenches and air ratchets also.

And your probably the kind of guy that screws people over by selling your used trashed vehicles and saying they run and work great when they have all sorts of problems. Here's an idea, try being honest for once in your life. If I was your snap on guy I wouldn't say anything either, I would just start adding 10% extra to everything you buy just because you are a dis honest person that screws others over. Karma will give you yours sometime.

the 510, 5100, 6100 and 6500 are very easy to take apart and look at. get the parts diagram off the snap on website and look at it, does it spin but not hammer? chances are that the dogs are rusted together and need to be broke loose, if it doesnt spin at all the oil has gotten thik from sitting, and the vanse are stuck in the rotor again, diassasemble, soat with fresh oil and reassemble and you should be fine

It is a Blue Point AT500D that I have owned since new, but used very sledom. I doubt that it has more than 10 hours total on it, and I did forget to oil it the last time that I pulled it out to remove a wheel. When I pull the trigger, it just hisses, and doesn't do anything else. A friend today suggest that I soak it in a solution of 50% acetone and 50% transmission fluid. I just don't know what effect the acetone will have on the internal parts. I searched the Snap-On website for a parts breakdown on this model, but it isn't listed. Is it safe to assume that it is similiar to the C or E version? thanks Junk...
