Gen2 latches are painfully annoying. The gen3 are supposed to have full width latches.

None of the 56" base were available for me. Not in any stores and not on the website. They did have the 56" and 72" top halves available for shipping in several colors. Shipping adds $140 for each item. I bit the bullet and settled for an orange 56" to go on top of my red 72" bottom.

The 26" boxes were also available pretty cheap. Different prices for different colors, and available locally. I snagged a couple of the yellow 26" lower halves for $179 at the local store. None of the local stores had 26" upper halves in any color.

Thank you to the OP for this. I bought one of the black 44" tool chests on Sunday for $149. I waited too long and missed out on one closer to me. A number of stores with 200 miles of me showed they had one of the $149 tool chests in stock on the website, but I called several stores and they did not actually have one in stock. I had to drive further than I wanted, but I got one. I wasn't picky about the color.

There was a yellow one fairly close to me, but the yellow one is still $299 for some reason.

You paid $149 for a 44" You ****, my friend.

The website doesn't even show any $149 options available. They start at $299 with the decent colors still being $399.

The website still shows the black one at $149. Search the website for 64437. I just noticed today that you can order the black one online, but the shipping is almost $140 for me. If I had realized there was a shipping option I may have just ordered it rather than spending my entire Sunday going to go pick one up in person. West Allis, Wisconsin had one on Sunday, but they no longer show one as in stock.

Ahh, I see now. I misunderstood. I thought we were talking 44" Roll Cab for $149.

I was looking for another 56 inch in Yellow, but couldn’t find any stock.

it’s Stupid they have to search the store for inventory and Not the actual item….. you would think punch in the item # you want and they can tell you where to buy it…..

Ahhh NOPE !

I have 3 - gen 2’s w/ chrome handles and Now the gen 3 have black handles. They won’t match my set up…

anyone try adding chrome to the gen 3 boxes??

I should clarify that I was only looking for the 44" top chest in any color. I wanted one to put in the cargo bay of my motorhome, and I got one in black.

It appears the website will search out at least 200 miles from the store you have selected. There is a link to search nearby stores.

The above image shows the "Check Nearby Stores" link on the product page. It won't show every store in the USA that has it in stock, but how many people are going to travel half way across the country to buy an item?

Buddy and I went to the local HF to buy a bunch of the cheap boxes just because they were cheap. He wanted 4 or 5 of the 56" ones to put under a wall of benches as well. They only had a couple 44" tops and some 26" tops and bottoms. We snagged the two 44" tops and the kid helping us out told us that the truck shows up on Wednesdays and there could be more boxes showing up but they have no idea what they will get. Said to call on Thursday morning and ask them what they got delivered for inventory.

So for you guys looking and didn't find what you wanted it might be worth checking again or calling since it sounds like HF is just randomly shipping out the remainder of the Gen 2 inventory.

Just been told the Yukon I paid for two weeks ago will be "on the truck tomorrow" & will be able to pick it up Friday.... but to call first in case it's not on the truck. FFS

What store did you go to that still had two of the 44" top chests? There are a few of the $249 and $299 ones still out there, but the three colors that are $149 are few and far between. It appears all of the $149 44" top chests are gone within 300 to 400 miles of Minneapolis. A few stores like Waterloo and Sioux Falls show them in stock, but when you call they don't actually have any in stock. A store in Kansas and one in Arkansas seem to be the closest to Minneapolis that have the $149 44" top chest in stock.

who has a 56”?
what’s the actual width and depth? I’d like a top chest to put on my Matco twin bank, but it’s 55 7/8”. I don’t really want overhang, but I could probably live with it if it’s only 1/16 on each side. I just know it’s probably not really a true 56”.

The only 44" tool chest I would believe could still come on a truck is the black color. They still have some of the black ones for shipping so some could still go to stores I suppose. I assume they are clearing out remaining Series 2 with the blowout prices.

For my limited use in a motorhome to hold tools for emergencies I can live with the latch design.

I noticed the clearance price on the 44" tool chests dropped by $50. I stopped by my local Harbor Freight today and they refunded my $50. I thought maybe clearance items would be exempt from the price adjustment policy.

Earlier this week I was looking around the USA for more of the 44" chests and I found a few around the New York City area. I guess I was bored as I don't need another one, and I sure as heck wouldn't travel all the way to New York for one.
