This is what I see at my end - I get everything - General Tools - Garage - Free Parking -

I will have to look through what you posted there when I'm fully awake and able fiddle with the "filter" thing.

Yes, because those are all the new posts, i.e., posts that you have not read, from across all of GJ. Many if not most of them, though, are from forums you have no interest in. They're just being gathered and firehosed in chronological order from all those various forums into that "New posts" view.

Why would you do that? You understand that by reading new posts there, you're not taking advantage of the most basic way there is to weed them out, by the site topology, right? If you cease and desisted in that, navigated to the Vintage Tool forum instead, you'd see the same threads with new posts or new threads that you'd see in the "New posts" view, but you wouldn't have to scan past all the irrelevant **** to find them. If you check in daily, they'd all be on page 1, maybe page 2. Then you could navigate to the General Tool forum and do the same thing there. Or elsewhere. The difference is you are scanning page 1 of only the forums you're interested in.

That would save you a lot of time, 4.c. You wouldn't even need to bother with Watching and filters, although I still recommend it.

I actually just start typing VINTAGE, and due to my history, it takes me to the Vintage Tool Forum.

Alternative is to be conventional, and create a bookmark, once you are in the vintage forum, and it will always take you there.

Because I don't know any other way.

So.. If I just go directly to "Vintage", click "new posts", I just get new posts in "vintage", correct?
Same with "General Tool"?
Same with whatever the forum is?

I tried to tell you the other day in a P/M: I make an art form of missing the obvious. It's just my way. ;)

You do remind me of my brother Nick, who is on the hairy edge of genius (he is also very artistic) and, um, er,... needing assistance. :)

No, seriously, it was clearly a byproduct of you going to the Home page first, and operating out of "New posts", which is too wide and would drive anyone batty, and Alerts, which are handy in consolidation, but dive in too deep. The best way to get a feel for how GJ generally flows is to ignore all those for a while and use the forums you like as your view. I will say this all makes it very clear why you always link the Sticky for newbies, as if it's not right there at the top of the forum. You were simply not operating from the forum.
