I’m in the market for a metric ratcheting wrench set… and plan on posting any Black Friday deals that I find here.

First up, Gearwrench. I’ve heard these **** these days, so I won’t be buying:

How about Milwaukee? I’ve never used their hand tools, but here’s the deal:

NAPA with the Carlyle set… I think you can use the “thanks20” discount code tomorrow:

Teng Tools set… I’ve heard these are decent:

Hopefully more deals surface tomorrow…

I like those Milwaukee wrenches. Milwaukee gets a lot of hate for their marketing but I was happy with how they felt when I last used a set.

The 15 piece SAE set actually is piquing my interest.

I usually try to stay away from the low end ratcheting wrenches because I worry about the mechanism breaking but being able to warranty them at a HD is a plus.

I like my Carlyles. Those or the Icons from HF would be my choice. If you can only have one set I'd go offset reversible. If you already have those then the non reversible are nice to have in addition.

I bought the big Wiha's last year when they were really cheap, no problems with them.
Here's this year's stocking stuffer.

I was buying lot's of GW when they had deals all the time, some of the long ones got a little bend but otherwise they've been solid for me. I haven't bought any in a couple years so I can't comment on today's quality.

Whispers: just so you guys know, discussion is highly discouraged in deal threads...

(Zipps out before the hammer comes down)

Love the options being shown, if I may put in a request.... has anyone seen much in terms of a decent ratcheting stubby set? I don't have a use for them often but the other day if I had one I think I would have saved about 20 min and a lot of frustration.

I like my gearwrench set.
Me too, but mine are from at least 5-10 years ago which I've heard are drastically better for some reason.

Some have stated that warranty is really spotty recently when it comes to timely shipping of a replacement piece.

While I currently have Milwaukee, and have been pleased with them, I might look at Tekton based on your requirements. Lots of options, at least for storage & different counts. They have 10% off thru Monday. While many of their tools are made in the USA now, the wrenches are made in Taiwan, and their warranty process is super easy.

The closest set to the Hazet, has 2 more sizes (6 & 7mm) for $150, but no cool foam.

I love these, particularly if the bolts are rounded or rusty. They are awesome.

Several years ago I got a set of GW combined regular/stubby ratcheting wrenches during a sale (~40 pcs, SAE/Metric). The performance is fine except the heads on them are massive, presumably because they are made with inferior metal. So whatever you buy, look closely at them. If you look at the heads on the Carlyles, Wihas and Hazets linked above, there is less material on the head allowing them into tighter spaces. I'm sure they are as strong or stronger than the GWs, but they accomplish it through quality rather than quantity of metal.

I think GW has several versions of their ratcheting wrenches, some better than others. But the ones you usually see for sale cheaply are built to that level. Not a bad tool, but not the same as some of the better brands. I keep thinking about replacing my GW set with a better set, but they perform "good enough" so I just keep using them. But if I was starting fresh, I probably would have gone with a better quality set.

I have been using a set of Gearwrench I think they call them X beam - which means the open end is twisted 90 degrees from the closed end. They are one way wrenches, which i'm not completely in favor of, but they've worked fine for several years, no reason to replace them.

More recently I bought a set of long pattern Mountain brand double box universal spline flex head ratcheting wrenches on Amazon. Mechanic friend had a set of Mac tool ones that are identical. Since I've had them for a couple years, the Gearwrench are pretty much unused.

I bought the the 12-point flex-head ratcheting wrenches when they were first released a couple weeks ago. My impression is the overall quality is excellent.

If you look on the website it says "New Release" and these replace the earlier style with a fully polished finish. Tekton's Black Friday sale has discounts on discontinued and blemished tools and I believe the extra 10% off only applies to those tools. On the website you find those under "Outlet" at the top.

The stubby ratcheting wrenches mentioned earlier (above) are on sale in the Outlet, but they are only available individually, and not in set form.

Beyond my budget, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Hazet set this cheap:

MIsterWorker.com is the place to go for Hazet (any time of year) https://www.misterworker.com/en-us/...cs/50319.html?gmc_currency=3&SubmitCountry=US
