I've been so good on not spending money on tools, till now.........got the itch again. Ordered few items from Amazon Japan. First partial shipment I got is Tone 3/8 extra long handle (RH3FHX). It's very nice. All other stuff coming in December.

I'll run a chef's steel over the edges of my Japanese scissors to refresh the edge. But maybe once every year or 2 I'll give them the Japanese whetstone treatment starting at #1000 then #3000 then #5000. The 3K & 5K stones are not vital for "scissors" you could get great results with say #400 then #800 grit. Technique being the MOST important factor. Those Kai scissors look nice. This 3000 grit stone I've only had a bout a year. It's about 2-1/4" deep 😯 often referred to as "the green brick of joy" due to its great feedback and silky feel. IMG_20231128_005302_4.jpg

I love myself some long anvil Japanese hex bits, particularly the reduced shank varieties. The longer anvil works just as well as the C6 type in bit drivers like the Wiha Centrofix or Hazet 810bh or 810bhk. You get virtually zero play when those bb's are set and locked in place. I was using my Anex 397 today reassembling a Stihl MS261 saw and it was very nice. Most of us are very visual so colourful pictures work well. IMG_20231128_003042_3.jpgIMG_20231128_004207_1.jpg

Try searching "+2" and you will likely find more results.

Try this, from main page, search the Brand name, then scroll down on the left, click International Shipping Eligible, then refine by category. I never use Amazon Global in my searches.

Get comfy for multi-page searches. Sorting by price screws things up because of the language difference I think.

Picked up two t-drive bit drivers in anticipation of snowboarding season. Both Made in Japan.

Anex 370

The Anex 370 has a bit holder in the black part of the handle. Very smooth ratcheting mechanism.

Vessel TD-80

TD-80 comes with a set of bits which is nice but ideally there would be some sort of bit storage in the handle.

That Vessel is one of my favorite tools. The ratchet mechanism isn’t anything to write home about, but it feels good in the hand and lets you feel the torque level being applied. I use it a lot. Very ergonomic.

Slight observation I never picked up. Was sorting through the garage, found an old specific chassis bushing press for my German car- Kyoto Tool Company was on the label. Cracked open the case - did not see any markings or COO. *usually* for these one off specific presses , I presume its all PRC sorta of stuff

Just a observation....

A few days ago, on Amazon.jp. I hit checkout and order my entire cart by mistake Cancelled it immediate.
Added all items back to my cart. No change in price,

Just did a checkout a few hrs ago and was curious....as well, you know , Amazon's algorithm. Checked all my items on my order and it all went up about 50 yen across the board

So anyone checked out the new upgraded 3.7v Vessel ball grip. It's blue maybe in other colours too & called the Premium. It's bit collet is a big improvement, not perfect but better than the others which were terrible. Its 3-speed. I've held off on these as they just didn't have the quality I'd expect from Vessel, but it's nice to see they are making the product betterer.

I think he just got a bad one, I haven't seen that issue in other videos and don't think they changed anything except the color.

Those ^^ ARS secateurs look nice. While they look like Felco knockoff from a distance, they are a totally different design. I'm going to try some Japanese secateurs next. A few brands make nice looking ones.

I think I'm all Koken'ed out for now. For my existing Zeal sets, I've added nutgrip hex, way too many flex Zeal ratchets to my order. Added the hex and torx sockets to my order....dangit, don't even -really- need these 2 bit sets but seems to have a huge raving of + feedback on this thread.

Just remaining on the Koken list is some of their locking extensions and maybe some nutgrip etorx

Revisiting the Subject of the -insulated handle- on the Koken Attack Driver.

Is it the same as what is on the Zeal series handle....
Not even sure what it is on the Z series - the durometer is different. Its not hard, it's not soft, has a bit of foam give to it, its different stuff

I bought a pair earlier this year, VS-8XZ. They're awesome.

I really wish the flex zeal line wasn't just JIS, but I also understand the realities of their market right now.

I once owned in, the late '50s, a 3/8" drive screwdriver bit marked Carter Carburetor. In the last 70 years many things have come and gone in my life.

I think it was a bit softer than the Zeal handles. I ended up selling my Koken attack driver because it was too big for the uses I have for it. Purchased a Vessel and Annex models that were smaller.

What are some must HAVE Koken.

Ko-ken are primarily known for their sockets and their nut grip sockets are probably one of the sets that are most prominent. You can get quality sockets from many manufacturers but a socket that uses mechanical grip to hold the bolt is fairly rare.

I can't think of a time where I've used a screw bit in a socket on a ratchet.....for my applications at least
I have a land rover that’s 70% held together by pozidriv screws. Screwdriver bit on a ratchet is great for this.

same goes for XZN screws on VW/audi.

I don't think it's possible but will have wait 12 hrs till Amz JP can get on a chat ....

With Amz. jp, if order hasn't shipped, is it possible to added-edit-combine a *new recent order placed* , to save on shipping or the easy answer is no...once the order is in, can't combine etc..aka, want to add more items but not start from *zero* on shipping

Did I get fleeced? Ordered the Tone 3/8’s mini ratchet after all the fan fair. But I ordered mine through Amazon (US), and I noticed its not stamped made in Japan anywhere. So now I’m wondering if I got a Tawain model instead?

Update: On further inspection of the packaging itself, it was stamped on they're made in Japan, but I dunno?

Sorry for the late update. . .

Update: On further inspection of the packaging itself, it was stamped on their made in Japan, on the packaging but the not the acutal tool itself so I’m perplexed?

Packaging identical as post #9602

Made in Japan Experts, I’m still learning in this space?

I didn’t know that it is the same as the Powerbuilt ratchet. Just looking on Amazon 1/2 36T for under $20. Are we talking about the same? Or, am I looking at the same thing you’re referring to?
