OK, file this under "impulse buy"... But it could be handy. I do a lot of IT/electronics diagnostic stuff, and it's handy to know voltage/current draw (or current output capability) of certain devices. Normally I would use a meter and a butchered USB cable. But this handy-dandy little inline voltage/current reader is only the size of a flash drive! Very handy, and it was on clearance at Menards for $9.95. I saw the package and I thought "USB Multimeter, huh, where do the probes connect?". I thought it was an on-screen actual multimeter. It isn't that at all, but it's still neat, and totally worth $9.95 to me.

I tested a few of my chargers with my phone attached as a load:

I was kinda hoping it showed volts and amps at the same time, but it switched back and fourth about every second or two.

Been wanting a compression tester to check things out for the baja powerplant. Also picked up a couple pair of tool bags to replace the cheap flimsy plastic toolbox that resides in the Ridgeline. Tool bags were 10 for each pair, thought that was good. Gonna get a couple tool rolls from HF for in the bags!

I hate bags (can't stack them neatly), but the plastic they've been using for boxes for the past decade (or more) is complete garbage.

Another haul from Cripe arrived today:

20231129_130416.jpg

My junkyard toolset let me down with no sockets bigger than 13mm / 1/2", so I needed a larger set. But Harbor Freight wants TEN DOLLARS per set, I got these Danaher China Allen sets for $4 each. Nothing special but they're going to live in a damp bag in a car their entire lives. Same goes for the wrenches, just what I needed for a no-skip set and they were $3 each. Almost a little sad the Napa one is a nice USA unit. The bit driver is a replacement for the cheapest possible driver I destroyed last time out in the yard.

The rest of the items were just fun splurges, the ratcheting bit driver is my first zero degree style unit, I thought it would be nice for difficult angle under-dash fastener work. I like it for $16, seems like it works good.

The 1/4" to 3/8" adapter says MAX 40 FT LBS on it, kinda neat.

Pawn shop score today! Snap on FHX80BDT and 212YSFSMY that look to be brand new for $220. They had just put them on the shelf this morning so they refused to go lower, but seeing that they retail for $602 and I’ve been needing a set of deep metric sockets I couldn’t turn it down. IMG_7542.jpeg

Hose Pinch-Off Pliers...

Not knowing those existed, I've always used needle nose vice grips for that job. What's the advantage of that tool?

Typically most pliers, especially vice-grips, will have serrations and teeth and other things that can damage a hose as they are designed to grab as aggressive as possible. Hose pinch-off pliers are typically smooth and designed purposely to simply pinch without causing any damage.

Yep, recently flushed my heater core and I could have used them. Instead I made a cap out of extra hose and needle nose vicegrips but I saw those for $10 and decided I could justify it.

My ScopeMeter arrived today. It's the Zoyi/Zotech ZT-702S:

Straight out of the box power-up. I'm in the office now, so I don't have any signals to actually "test" it with.

This will take up much less bench space (actually zero bench space since it can fit in a drawer!) than my old tektronix CRT scope. Plus I can take it in my field case easily too.

Not so much tool related, but tool assessory related. Needed a short 3 foot section of air hose for my new garage air delivery system, and since I wired my garage for a 220V air compressor, but decided to go another route (110v). Now I have a 220v plug in a not-so-ideal location, so I needed a 50 amp 220V extension cord for my Hobart 210. Also picked the Tone 3/8’s mini ratchet after all the reviews. But I need to consult the experts on the Tools of Japan thread to see if I got fleeced. Jury is still out till I hear back from those folks, as they are the GJ experts in that arena . . .

Found a Mac T50 socket in a pawn shop bin for $2. Not the deal of the century, but it’ll come in handy at some point. IMG_7548.jpeg

$2 is a fantastic deal, for sure. It probably retails for 10X that. Look it up, and you'll feel like you got at least the deal of the year at that pawn shop.

I had spotted it the last time I was there and stuck it in the bottom of the bin since I was grabbing some matco USA made 1/2” extensions that they thought were 3/8”. The worker at the time would’ve looked it up and made me pay more. I had looked it up that day and it’s $35 so I waited until one of the guys was working that would give me a deal.

Went kinda nuts on Tekton’s Black Friday warehouse sale and got some stuff to experiment on grip changes. Also an Allen wrench organizer to see how it works in hopes of sorting through my mountain of Allens.

You a fan of swivel heads? I found a set of them from another brand locally and was thinking they would be a good addition, but haven’t used them before.

I actually can’t stand them, but they have their place. My son in law liked the 3/8 one I did a while ago with a driver handle so the black driver handle on a 3/8 is going to be a Christmas gift for him. The rest are for experimenting with.

His payments start next time the truck rolls up
Been long payed for, I owe SO nothing and he hasn't had anything grab my attention for a while.

You can’t just post that without a story, so spill it.
The pivot was loose and could no longer be tightened nor removed, so I was handed a new one,
