Replacing 'tire' on cast iron caster wheel

Rivet on a piece of tire tread? Easy to try one, I would cut the tread for a tight fit, attach it with some heavy duty 3M spray adhesive and then rivet at the seams, counter sink the rivet heads. If these swivel you might have to add a few rivets around the perimeter.

If you pour your replacement tire oversized, you can turn them down to a concentric round shape.

There are companies that will cast a polyurethane coating on anything you want.
We used Kastalon all the time for fixture parts.
They remold wheels. No idea what it cost.

The fact that they've all failed indicates that either the original quality was poor, or the loads/conditions were past what they could take.

All polyurethane wheels will fail due to oxidation, even the highest quality ones.
Its just a matter of time and can be accelerated by the environment in which they are in.
No different than most other polymer chains. Have you ever seen rubber tires that don't eventually age check?

Steel wheels can last for years, Steel Wheels on Steel Rails have very low rolling resistance, Railroads have been using them for years.

Maybe try Flex Seal (paste) If a spritz of it it can turn a screen door into a rowboat it might full in the gaps on your tires.

OP, don't know your application or duty factor, but I have been happy with these 8" swivel casters; I have one set on my welding table and another on my gantry crane. (Pics in my project thread). They were pretty inexpensive but roll smoothly, brakes work great and they are holding up well.

How about some 8” polyurethane bandsaw tires? Maybe too skinny but inexpensive and easily available. I see them for about $18 for 2 of them. I didn’t do much looking but most 8” tires seem to be 1/2” wide. Perhaps they could be double or tripled up to give you more width

I usually buy new wheels and reuse the rest of the caster assembly.

I used to get rollers for industrial machines re-covered from a few places.
Not sure where you are located, but maybe one of these is near you or there might be a similar place bear you.

I have a large Flea Market near my house. I buy all of my casters there. Typically, a set of 4 would be less that $100. I am a tight wad. It was the only way I could continue my hobbies as I raised my family.
