My guess is that item was possibly sold at the Monticello gift shop. Maybe you could email a photo of it to one of their staff members and see if they're familiar with it or not.

Went to the Peddlers Mall today. And some on here no I'm collecting Blue Grass Hardware. Belknap. And when I found this I was a little tickled. Wife calls me a sucker but I wont say what i paid but it was under$21.00.

On the way home from the dog park today, I stopped at the Restore, and was lucky:


One Hinsdale G-20 socket box. Which is in decent condition for being, what, 90+ years old? Wasn't going to pass that up. And inside was this 5/16" drive(!) refrigeration socket.

(ok, there were other sockets inside it, but all of the cheap type and have since moved back into the Restore pool.)
Not too shabby for a whopping $3.

Yep Marty ***** if only for for the Free Shot! The cahrger is a good one. I have its predecessor (Modle 220), toggle switches instead of rocker, both 20A. it is a workhorse. I've been using mine for most of 40 years (Im at least the 3rd owner), and even use it on my E tank.

I'm still using a Silver Beauty that dates from 1966. It still works fine.

Five days into 2024 and I'm finally on the board with my first flea trip of the year (Lugz 2024_01)!

Starting with the only GJ-relevant find, that little "S" wrench has a "USMC" logo on it. That's the goliath shoemaking company, not Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. Right into the "Shoe" crate and collection it goes. The first and only "S" wrench I have ever seen, other than leg17's specimens on the USMC thread.

The fencing mask should come in handy the next time I have to deal with some kind of wasp or yellowjacket issue, or when I'm up inside a tree doing some pruning, but honestly, I just had 'novelty' and 'potential future Halloween costume' in mind.

I am still waiting for all my New Year's Day purchases to arrive. I did get one yesterday, but was waiting for all of them to do in one post, which I will do when they're all here.

In the meantime, at work early this morning, I "internetted" an estate sale just down the street from work. I snuck out real quick to check it out just a bit ago. NO parking anywhere, so I just pulled over, hit the 4 ways, and ran inside (literally). A quick but thorough scan of the workshop area didn't look promising. One guy in there making a pile (and in my way) so I was scanning leftovers. Well, Mr. Tool Guy hoarder missed something that I picked up (as I snickered), and made my way out to the checkout. Holding it up to the cashout guy I said, "big sale" with a smile. He looked at me and said, "Have a great day". I thanked him and ran (literally) back to my illegally parked truck to skedaddle.

Back at work for a picture at my desk. Snap on VS1012 5/16 x 3/8 DOE in an older panel pattern.

A couple of things I got today. A snap on oex180 from eBay to build my set got the guy down to a real good price. Also a guy I work with was riding his scooter home the other day and stopped by a dumpster and grabbed this starrett 196 and gave it to me. Nice set a little rust but nothing a little elbow grease won’t take care of. Even has all the tips. He said there was a vise he was going to try and grab as well but someone was putting it in their truck when he rolled up. I’m on the board for 2024!

It depends entirely on your location. The one close by that Jeff and I go to more often than not has good stuff and is priced really well too. They have their dry stretches, but when they hit it's worth it. Find your nearby ReStore and check them out.

The ReStores that I have been in have been a waste of time for tools for me, but I'm not close enough to any to check them often. I have gotten good deals on quality furniture and good kitchen cabinets, but see lots of junk, too.

-Snap on M-2 9/32" drive 2" extension G code (1945)
-Blue Point RS-1618 DOE speed wrench (1966)
-SK 40971 1/4" drive long handle ratchet

All for sets I'm building.

Very similar extension to the one I received from GJ member beatcad last week. Mine is plain steel. I have a couple of G marked chrome plated tools that may have been made in late ‘45 after the metal restrictions were relaxed .
