I don't think I can pass up the HF service cart, the nice 700 lb 5 drawer one (in another thread right now) for $149 less 20% with coupon, but that doesn't worry me, there is a bunch of the usual cr@p I'm not sure I can resist at the same time. ...

$9 for the vacuum thing that runs off compressed air, too cheesy for real AC work, but dandy maybe for making a cheap MityVac oil thing etc.

$30 (less 20% w coupon) for the vibrating multifunction tool.

$4 canvas tool bag.

$7 Bike storage pulley thing. Two of these might make the basis for a cool garage storage shelf, platform, type thing.

.

For years doing AC work this is what we used. It works, it's not complicated and will pull down over 28 inches of Vacuum. Getting the moisture out of the system is prtty much all it has to do. Work fine. We then (Circa 1970) moved up to a compressor out of a refrigerator and brazed a fitting to the suction side. That worked better than any Vac pump made. I kept that pump until it burned up in the 90's. By then I had several A/C machines. I have a small Robinair Vac Pump but it won't pull near as well as the fridge compressor. The fridge comprressor is so quiet you can hardly hear it run. Buy a full size working refrigarator off of CL for 25-50 dollars and take 20 minutes to turn it into the best Vac pump ever.

I'd avoid that. There's a big gap on either side of the pulley and the rope gets easily jammed between the pulley and bracket. Then you have to climb up on a ladder to get it unjammed. You could substitute thicker rope, but then you'd have to modify the mechanism that locks the rope in place.

I just picked up that same cart. Took me about 1.5 hours by my self to put it together. It seems very well made. The casters are heavy duty.

As time goes on, I find HF toolage more and more "resistable." But I find it handy for the low-cost consumable stuff, so I still clip the occasional coupon and go. Last purchase was glass bead for blasting. How can they possibly screw that up?

Couple old techs I worked with did the same thing to make a solder removal system, but never heard of it used for AC. Found some links so its a common project.

This guy says it was only good for about 27" of vacuum.

i guess subtlety doesn't work here.

$30 (less 20% w coupon) for the vibrating multimalfunction tool.

Its not subtlety, its fiction, these cheap tools have no reports of malfunction, only major issue is that like many of its type its noisy.

Subtlety would be something like ... "Its one of the best tools, at Harbor Freight."

im thinking about getting the electric impact gun its 37.99 then 20% coupon.

Its loud, not real powerful, and freaking huge, but so far has removed all the nuts I used it on. Like all HF electrical devices, use it ASAP to make sure its basically OK, or get a longer warranty.

I just bought the HF 5 Drawer cart today. $119 with the 20% coupon. Nicely made (yes I know it is from China). I bought it to replace a SO service cart I inherited from my brother when he passed away. The SO cart was falling apart, so I gave it away to a neighbor. :(

It still had some life in it, but looking at it made me sad.

I have it too.
If you can wait, I think I've seen it on sale as cheap as $29.99, and you can still use the 20% coupon on top of that.
