Here I am, the host, finally on the board for 2024. A pair of rare Sunday sales, possibly due to the miserable misting moisture falling from the sky all day Saturday.

There was an interesting red box in the pix, and only went for $25, about two minutes before I arrived. Smaller flip top, drop front, but the top section under the flip up was two different depths. Under the deep side was a shallow drawer or two. The other side of the top was about normal depth, and has one deep drawer, and one or two shallower. The missing lock was on the top face, no top handle, but two side handles. Not real heavy duty, but interesting design. Supposedly came out of Pearl Harbor Shipyard in 1977. Don't think it was old enough for being there in 1941

Seeing as I was missing the box, I wandered a bit while they emptied it. Found some Pony clamps, two C clamps, an NPT 1/2-14 tap, and going back to the box, a 455 K&D snap ring pliers w replaceable tips. Then found a Suncast storage box, got all the above for $5 more than the box.

And this. Rizzuto Estileto (Milano) switchblade. I was prepared for a good haggle, but got it for $1. What a disappointment. Pulled it out the top of a Craftsman stack filled with misc. junk. After buying the cross bar for $1, seller said give him a dollar more.
Needs cleaning and lube inside to work better. Not sure which route to go with the plastic handle. I guess they are a pretty desirable old knife though.

Funny! I got my KRA25 in 2021 for $8 also, complete with tray. I guess we set the market for them. Brought mine home on the back of my Road Glide with the Mrs. just shaking her head in disbelief riding between me and the Snap on gold. And yes, it is posted in the GS21 thread

I had to "back door access" this - It's not local the Email notices are naming one thing and linking to something incompletely different (and in my case threads I've never been on) , So I'm guessing, based on earlier error messages, re Data base is hosed? @Ryan

It's a hilarious read.

Nope. Thanks. Going on the list.

It's a good way to stay around the sport. I work some men's leagues in the summer down here for cash. High School is fun because it's good ball and you don't have to suffer any lip.
Definitely a good read.

Our Men's leagues are pretty good. The Umpires don't take much **** which is good. Unfortunately some of them are horrendous, especially at the plate but it is what it is.

6 & 7/8 and saukit both **** for their freebies.

I have one of my own to add:

On our town's Everything Is Free Facebook group: just a picture and "Failed for us. Turns but won't start. Maybe you can get it to work."

1000004801.jpg

The post was 20 minutes old. No address listed, but I looked it up from his previous posts and hustled over there. As I pulled up, there was an large van idling next to the generator. I pulled up in front and walked back to talk to the lady in the driver's seat, thinking she might be waiting on someone to come help load the generator.

I pointed to the generator as she rolled down the window.

"Did you see that, too?" he said.

I paused as I reassessed that the lady sitting in the van was a trans man. Not that there's anything wrong with that--I just had to make a slight adjustment to my initial conclusions.

"Yes he has it listed for free on Facebook. He says it won't start."

SHE (obviously how she identified) paused to think a few seconds and then said "Eh, you can have it." Then, she drive off. I was able to muscle it into my truck and hauled it home.

A 5500W generator, Briggs and Stratton engine. Looks practically new.

1000004799.jpg

Why did it fail to start, you might ask? What was wrong? Some of you will easily guess: it was out of gas. I filled the tank and it started on the second pull. I checked the gen set and it powered a corded hand tool. Works just fine....

I live in a mostly white-collar town, so this is surprisingly common. Anyone remember my free snow blower from last year? It only needed a $3 spring (and some gas) to start and run. If this guy had been a neighbor, I'd have wheeled the generator right back up his driveway. But instead, I'll flip it and hopefully have it sold in a week and put the proceeds into the woodshop fund.

Or less if my wife sees this. PM sent...

On a bittersweet note, @pfaustus, guess who died? Fish! On Christmas day! Stepped on a nail at the flea market the week before. It got infected. Christmas eve, the ER sent him home with antibiotics. Next day he's in the Big Flea Market in the Sky, or mouthing off to Mephistopheles, one or the other. I overheard a couple other guys kibbitzing about the owners giving his partner-in-crime a week to clean out his area, which, I have to admit, is kind of harsh, and he wasn't exactly one of my favorite liquidators. I never thought I'd say this, but I will miss his obnoxious banter. RIP.

That is a scary throwback to another era, and really ****** way to go. Therefore I really will refrain from further jokes about the Heavenly Choir chanting "That way to the down escalator."

That "chopping knife" looks like handy small froe for splitting wood for handles and such. There is a similar tool for removing glazing putty from windows too. Good find.

Today was one of those days where I was the bug and not the windshield...thought about tucking my tail and not even posting this stuff but I figured if I'm gonna get on here and brag about the good deals I get, I better own it when I make stupid decisions! :ROFLMAO:

I saw a posting on Offerup that had a few toolboxes and a bunch of other stuff, they were asking $100 for all of it. I saw some interesting wrenches in the pics so I messaged and asked if they'd split out just the wrenches and sockets. Initially he said no but then lowered the asking price to $80 so I figured I'd might as well go take a look.

Got there and it was a kid selling the stuff for his dad. I saw a few Blue Point DOEs and a Snap on combo along with a few Plomb sockets. That's where I screwed up, I didn't spend any more time digging and I should have. The kid was a surprisingly tough negotiator but eventually he agreed to let me take all the wrenches and the sockets for $50.

Got it home and realized there was way more foreign dreck in the box than I expected...I overpaid by quite a bit! Oh well, live and learn I guess. I'll look more carefully next time! At least I didn't have to take the whole pile cause it would have just gone to Goodwill.

Without further ado:

The whole box...old Kennedy that's pretty crusty, I'll probably just pass it on as I don't really care to spend the time to clean it up.
IMG_5194.jpg

Wrenches...a few Blue Point DOEs, Snap on combos (one British Standard), Proto and P&C, and some misc Craftsman stuff. Starting top right, a Nash DOE, couple Auto-Key combos, Upland Forge DOE, Indestro DOE, Danielson pliers, a kind of interesting unmarked combo that looks like a cross between Lectrolite and Armstrong/Billings form factors, couple VlCheks, and Williams DOE.
IMG_5195.jpg

Craftsman BE and Proto LA speeders, the little spinner is marked USA but nothing else. Misc Plomb sockets under that, a couple Penncraft sets that are thankfully more or less complete. Next to the spinner is SK, Snap on, and a 1/2-3/4 that is just marked "B&D". Below that are some Bonney sockets, if anyone either needs these to complete sets or has some of the missing pieces let me know. Finally the unmarked speeder at the bottom looked really Snap on to me but I can't find a mark on it anywhere.
IMG_5196.jpg

There were some misc Craftsman and Thorsen sockets in there but I didn't bother to photograph them as they were newer stuff for the most part. The rest of it is on it's way to Goodwill!
