Ksem89 ***** for that haul!

I sold a set just like that a couple of years ago for $68, so if you recoup that much of your investment that puts your haul at 76-68=$8
$8/368= 2 cents apiece for the rest of the haul. You definitely ****!
I was actually thinking that! Not once in my life have I needed those. As well as 3/4 drive sockets, I'm thinking I can recoup my total spent with a few sales 👍

Last weekends finds from family run estate sale. I was glad to find the small hatchet. Saw a lone box of ammo and asked if any other around.
He came out with a bunch and got it for $50. I never heard of 25 Stevens and knew I had to pay the 5 bucks a box on it. Not an easy to find obsolete

When I was ten years old, I took a Stevens Favorite rifle that had been found under a woodpile in a shed as a project. I had to push a rod through the barrel because it was full of sawdust, and everything was covered with light rust, and scattered pits. It was 1960, and a search of ten nearby towns resulted in two boxes of .25 Stevens cartridges. As a result, I hardly ever shot the gun. The ammunition hasn't ever, to my knowledge, ever been loaded in the interim, which is 64 years. I believe that it hasn't been made since 1942.

Total suckage awarded 104 (this includes some very subtle "nice get" type awards ) 529 Posts in this month.

1st on the board with Suckage: Outlawmws
Ironically as host, I was near the end of the month, and last years host, Smokeshow69, was right behind me.

It was interesting reading all the posts, and noting what got people excited for their fellow pickers.

Got this Enerpac set this week. All of it was going to the scrap bin since the company bought several new complete outfits.
The pump works but some of the connectors are mismatched. Overall pretty good score.

Arne, considering that I'm saving pennies for the Daytona Chenesium version as I type, you definitely hoover it up.

I hit two estate sales today while out and about with my little dog. The first one listed tools in the advert, but all I found at first was a couple cheapo screwdrivers, and so I left. But, as I was turning the corner, I saw an open garage basement! So, of course I stop, and looked around. Well, there was a router table (nice) and a pneumatic nailer (meh). So, I left again.

But, the second sale, of which I was irritated that I didn't look at the Thursday listings as it was listed, was more my speed. An old horsy farm out past the junior college, which had a decent shop to dig around in.

Cornwell 1/2" ratchet, Cornwell Combo, Stanley 2oz BP, (3) Armstrong combos (and I have been looking for a 19/32"), (2) Williams wrenches, a Simmons file box, and a CS Osborne tack puller. $12 for all of that.

We went to a Berkeley estate sale and two in Walnut Creek. The Berkeley sale was put on by a company I’ve dealt with on many occasions and the prices are fair. IMG_2912.jpeg
I liked the functioning Powr-Kraft soldering gun.IMG_2913.jpeg
And the big S-K Tools screwdriver which I cleaned up. IMG_2914.jpeg
The next sale was one we went to last week. The posted prices must have put buyers off because many of the tools were still there. They seemed quite motivated to clear tools out and I was pleasantly surprised. IMG_2911.jpeg
The hacksaw is my first Union brand in that style. The big spoon , which my wife spotted, is stamped USN. One of the squares is a Stanley and I’m not yet sure about the other.
The last sale was put on by a company I normally avoid due to high prices but it was only 4 minutes away from the previous sale. I couldn’t leave the almost new looking S-K Wayne adjustable behind because an S-K fanatic would have been disappointed. IMG_2906.jpeg

The nutdriver turned out to be a magnetic Xcelite, which was a surprise to me.IMG_2909.jpeg

Don, I'd be interested to know what you think about that magnetic Xcelite. My recent Xcelite haul yielded two of those in 1/4" and 5/16. I thought they might make decent bit drivers, but the way the magnet protrudes into the socket means they really only fit screws with a recess in the head, and a normal 1/4" bit won't seat deep enough in the driver to be useful. was disappointed. Maybe yours is different?

an interesting 3/8 ratchet.
Looks like 3/8 guts in a 1/4" drive handle
You **** for the 3/8 drive in the 1/4 body (exactly what it is) There is a thread on these mini 3/8's ratchets adn how to convert as they are hard to find. I have the SO kit, I've yet to find the 1/4 ratchet for it. I've made a couple other brands - SK & Proto. The SK is my go to as much as possible/practical.

@Pexto - the mag nut drivers are primarily for hex screws not nuts other than to start, so you can get them into tight places. You can use then to start a nut, but you often will need to finish with a non-magnetic hollow nut driver.

I didn’t really try it yet. The magnet didn’t seem very powerful when I tried touching a drill bit to it but I could see when it could be useful. I’ll check it out a little more thoroughly tomorrow.

Yes, I have Cornwell and Armstrong as my users, they are great for assembly work.

Went to my first Estate Sale of 2024. Picked up a lot of good stuff and really scored on the Charles Parker 200 four inch vise and craftsman toolbox. Got everything for $125.00 Most all sockets are craftsman and only two are snap-on, with the usual junk sockets in the back as well

The wierd thing about that craftsman toolbox is that the previous owner took out the bars that lock the whole unit. He didnt destroy the box, as they look like they are/were made to be removed by just pushing out the 3 pins. Wish i could find them and put them back in to lock the box.

Stopped at the Quakertown flea mkt this morning, en (leisurely) route toward Manayunk. $5 bought a Bonney No500 S-DOE wrench plus this sturdy box, which I intend to fill with some 3/4dr sockets and tools. I do not see any branding, but hope the distinctive hasp may help ID it?
