Would one of you guys mind describing the use of the wheel knockers?
Any searching attempts lead to low rider spokes, and I know that ain’t it. TIA.

For breaking a rusted hub loose to pull a wheel off of an early (prewar, wartime) vehicle, although I suppose there might be a more modern tractor or trailer that it would work on. It's internally threaded on the other end. You remove the axle shaft nut, screw it on the shaft all the way to the hub and smack it with a hammer until it breaks it loose.

I grabbed this Streamline body hammer off eBay. I've never seen a style this extreme (17.5" long, 8.5" each side), and don't really see how it's a practical hammer especially the reverse curve side, but it's cool and had to have it.

SigO accumulated 20 pounds of steel so it's taking some time to sort through it, but here are the quickies.

RTM: " First was a train wreck, daughter trying to sell moms estate, sold one box of tools, but was trying to get $100 for a second “military chest” box of mismatched type tools."

I must have just beat you there! I am the one who bought the other box, and I guess she liked me, as I got a good deal on it.

Thanks! all are full or near full, and easily covered what I spent, there adn made a big dent for the day's buys!

Outlaw- nice Snap On puller find!

Thx, and Yep! I'm pretty sure its unused. I like the spreader bars in this one better than th current offering? the used a bent bar, instead of the slot in the middle traditional approach. Stunned at what SO wants for these!

Streamline body hammer

That one is a oddity. Very specialized for sure! Any makers marks?

I should clarify, a train wreck for me. I didn’t get a good look at the other box in the CL pix, will go back n check your haul. Definitely nice contents, looking forward to a thread on it, see how well someone kept it all together. Nice low pressure zone around that one.

The other box was the much better one, although there is still a bunch of junk in it (homemade splitting wedges and such) and I will have a lot of cleaning to do, as they weren't treated well over the years (rode hard and put away wet, as we used to say). But more than enough value as the final user.

Like I said, hopefully I can start sorting it today, and see what I have. The chest itself is an upgrade from what I have now, but is not what I am looking for in the end, so it will be a temp replacement.

VERY nice, You ****.

Pick this cabinet up for 40.0061674873-6796-4892-A0F0-B98CF77432C7.jpeg

You definitely **** for that!

I hit a few sales today with my wife. She struck out but I found enough good stuff to scratch the itch!

- older pre emission gas can made by Gott. How many people remember these? I remember it from my childhood as mowing the lawn was one of my responsibilities. My newer **** emissions can is breaking down and this one is probably made of the good stuff!

- I also bought 2 carry boxes with junk inside to put out at sales. I pulled all the good stuff out! Including snap on vacuum grip pliers, snappy and Mac drivers, plomb stubby pebble dbe .

I’m about $30 into everything but will recoup my money at the sale.
IMG_9052.jpegIMG_9054.jpegIMG_9055.jpegIMG_9056.jpeg

- set of vintage wheel knockers in a cool Brazil tools box for $3. Includes an early p&c and plomb

- long c logo drill attachment

- cool blo can
IMG_9053.jpeg

Wow, that's a Sucky haul!

Don I was definitely there before you, I passed on some of that stuff. I shouldn't have, but I was already thinking it was going to be astronomical - it wasn't!

I had a great day! even if it was only the Col FM and one Estate sale (the second estate sale - I told them they wanted the stuff more than I did. He gave me a price of $30, so I asked what was so valuable - he said $25 for the Vise (a small homeowners, exposed screw vise... icon_rolleyes.gif ) I said you want it more than I do" and set it down, and he says $10 for the rest icon_eek.gif "I guess you want it all more than I do!" (can't these people do simple math? 30-25 does not = 10 icon_e_confused.gif )

So that was last stop, and I went home.

Flea market was a bit slower than I would have hoped, but:

$2 1/2 Plvmb DBE (11XX part No. says its a DBE) Indestro auto wrench, T inside a star stamped wrenches - Made in USA so a tiny tool curio + 1 similar unknown;

O1-Plvmb-Indestro-Tstar-Unknown.jpg

$14 Taylor Mercury Thermometer, Greene Tweed & Co, Rawhide hammer (pretty sure I have the rawhide pucks), and a General magnetic clamp, plus a race car off a trophy;

O2-Tayor-Therm-Gen-ma-clamp-Greene-Twed-Co-Car.jpg

The big win from the same seller was a lantern box:

O3-L-box1.jpg

"Whats in the Box..."

O3-L-box2.jpg

Common Green but not too common - complete, original globe, and the vent would be near perfect except for one edge section - 220E date stamped 4-55 - the controls all work, it pumps pressure, and the cap does not leak. Completely empty, but a hint of CF for odor - I bet with some fuel it would light right up! as found & unboxed Got it for $15:

O3-L-220-E.jpg

And some items from a guy selling everything for a buck each $4 - 3 Brass chain "Hangers", Redwood steak knife block, Wood Spool cutoff;

Last FM finds was some cheap Super Glue $1 - :

O5-s-glue.jpg

And at the good estate sale - 3 SO, 1 Vaco long drivers 16" Proto punch, and a 24" MAC 3/8 extension

E1-SO-Proto-Mac-Vaco.jpg

Old Craftsman 1/2" ratchet, Craftsman & P&C tappet DOE wrenches, a mini ladies foot, big Proto 1-1/8, Odd Ford SOE wrench I've never seen, A hatchet handle, and a big "S" wrench.

50 cal Ammo box 2 SO Pullers NOS?

Focal Binoculars Made in Japan for Kmart -Despite the seller's rep, these are really nice, very clear binox at 50 X 12, and they bridge the gap between 6 or 7X binox and a spotting scope nicely! Very wide field of view also - 314 ft at 1000 yds.

E7-Bonox-1.jpg

The chemicals below were Free - but the value of just the first pic almost covers the whole buy! and all the chemicals is way more than what I paid! icon_mrgreen.gif - All are full or near full!

You **** for the lantern alone! Is the paint on the M-F drill original? And, is it as old as it looks?

@Outlawmws if you don’t mind me asking, what college flea market was this? A family member just moved to Hayward so I’ll be around there more often now.

This sale had a lot of cool stuff but most of it was too rusty for me. For $15 I got this long c Craftsman wall organizer and a Whitney no. 5 punch set with dies. I’ve wanted one of these but could never find a good deal til now.

IMG_9056.jpeg

Not sure what the Craftsman piece was meant for but I think it’s a killer shade of blue.

IMG_9057.jpeg

You ****, those are cool items, especially the blue Craftsman piece.

Got these this afternoon. 40+ sears craftsman ignition wrenches for $9. They all look new. I'm an aircraft mechanic, and these are life savers on certain repairs.

$9 for all of those? You ****!

Since these wrenches came up, had to share my recent find. NOS metric SK-made raised panel professionals.

NOS, and sealed? You ****...

Haha... I'll be careful.

It's made by Streamline who made body tools. Am I 100% in certain it's for auto body work? Absolutely not but I believe it is.

I typo-ed my notes early on and didn't ever catch it til you pointed it out Thx!
My pleasure.

You probably have no big plans for them, but if you ever run into any others and you start to think, "Gee, I should put a set of these together...", K-Star ignition wrenches have a very strange configuration that deviates from what everyone else was doing, with an even stranger part numbering scheme. In opening sizes, the set runs from 13/64" to 3/8" in eight (8) wrenches, and six (6) of the wrenches are paired, with each opening getting a 15* and 60* angle. So far so good. But the ascending part numbering scheme, expressed in letters, goes A, C, B, D, E, F, G, H. The A and C wrenches are paired, B and D are paired, E is solo, F and G are paired, and H is solo. I have never seen an I. (There is a numbered set, 1 through 8, too.)

(I need "D" wrenches if anyone is feeling belatedly santaclaus-y. :))

Oh wow, these are insane.
I agree with 3bay. Set of 5 and PO lost or broke the other two, replaced with P&C and Plomb. Really cool find. I don't remember ever seeing any Brazil tools on SK thread other than drive tools.
Interesting....great now my ocd tells me I must complete the set and that I must join said SK thread....I'm resisting the urge (so far) :ROFLMAO:

Thanks! Yes, the M-F drills paint is all original a bit of chipping on the black frame paint and the handle has a slight bend I need to remediate, but its otherwise in incredible condition! marked Millers Falls Made in USA, and 2-01 (Model No?) - No other markings

It's hard for me to pick a single highlight on this pic, There were quite a few I especially liked:

The Lantern, even though it's a "Common Green"
Long drivers, and the MAC 24" extension. You don't often need that sort of reach, but when you do...
Billings and Spencer 1879 Pat, Adjustable
As smalls I love the shorty Aircraft Spec. screw starter and Proportional Dividers
Unused set of SO gear/pulley pullers, Post "inventory" 2 sizes, and a second pair of small "jaws", second main screw and point, as well as 4 centering plates (bearing adapters?) these alone seem to run $25-$50? :dunno:
Last but not least, the Focal 12X - 50 Binoculars - I've been playing with them and they are really good!

Eclectic small haul (Lugz 2024_06) this morning.

2024_06.jpg

- The dykes are wartime Signal Corps TL-109 (Utica)
- I don't recognize the branding ("Thunder Bolt") on the barbers' shears
- The beehive handle is a Stanley No. 8 PAT PEND. Some kind of bit holder. The shank has a pinch in it (not shown) near the end.
- The hex driver in the middle is hollow-handle with several bits in it, including sockets and a screwdriver. Unmarked.
- The sockets are early machined Packer Auto "RAY"

To further the knocker discussion I think Lugz is right about this being a purpose built set within the box. I removed all the knockers and can’t find any evidence of someone removing welded in dividers so it probably started life this way. Also interesting to note that the plomb/ p&c variants have a hole in them to let grease out of the threads while the Brazil variants have no hole. ** if anyone wants to post my pictures to the sk thread I am totally fine with that to preserve them for future reference in their correct thread **IMG_9066.jpegIMG_9065.jpegIMG_9064.jpeg

You're cracking me up, Smoke! I'm beginning to think you're avoiding the SK thread like a gateway drug. :)

If I were you, I would post that and enjoy the bragging rights, dude. This is turning out to be the best kind of pickers' find, where you don't really know what you have, exactly, when you grab it, but you know it's good. Vintage knocker type wheel pullers are fairly rare to begin with. As I said there are only three on the Plomb thread, for example. Mine, 3bay's, and Squez's. But together, with yours, we still don't even have half the sizes they made, although Jock says he has a couple, too, just never posted them. OTG has a NOS SK in a NOS SK cardboard box, on the SK thread. There might be a couple other brands floating around the GJ VB. That's it. I have never seen a whole set in its box, in any brand, and your partial early Brazil set might be the closest there is so far.

PM me you addy (again) One of the 3 is in fact a "D" 7-32nds, and I have no plans to stat a stamped steel ignition wrench collection (I really don't want to collect Oxwall...). I have enough going on with the forged Ign. wrenches!

Brookline Flea Market haul for Superbowl Sunday. PART 1
The Snap on box is is pretty good shape! No key, but almost all the drawers had drawer liners. I am not sure of the model number, and i cant get the darn drawers out no matter what i try. I used the hacksaw blade trick and no help also just tried to pull and no help.
The SK box is rough but can be brought back.
As Mentioned last week I had a Parker vise model 2400 lined up and scored it for what i wanted to pay. The Craftsman vice is in great shape, and the Snap-on drill box is in ok shape on outside.....no bits and the inside a bit messy. All totaled for todays haul $148.00. Not a bad score.
If anyone has any hints on removing the drawers on Snap-on Tool box, please let me know. I will also research on this site as well.

UPDATE: I found a video to remove the drawers. Need to use Slider removal tool part number for vintage tool boxes: 52638.

Enjoy the Superbowl!!

Yup, one of many different models of the 2 hand drill. Much later date than I assumed, 1968-74. One of the most stylish, I think I have three.

O.K. I finally got on the board this year. I went to a woodworker’s tool estate sale and literally every room in the house was full of tools, not just the garage. The old man had passed, and his kids were selling his household, but every table in every room was full of tools. I was scanning tables as fast as I could (along with twenty-five other tool hounds!) and I hear someone yell “How much is this?”. Of course, you have to look, and it is a ¾” HP Baldor buffer on its own pedestal base. The gentleman turned away, and the price was SO low, I just stepped in. I then looked under items, as there was just too much everywhere. Under a box, under another metal box, hidden in the corner, I found an older Snap-on rolling tool chest. I am not sure the woodworker’s kids even knew it was there. I asked their helpful neighbor friend for a price without moving anything off it. It was too cheap not to pull it out and bring it home. I loaded the two items up and thought I should just check one more time. I found an early SK knurled ¾”-drive socket set with ratchet, sliding T-handle, and 17 sockets. By this time, they liked me and almost gave it to me. Nice Saturday morning.

Much later date than I assumed, 1968-74.

Thx for the link! it's even a bit later - -die-cast frame, so 71-74.

the chuck jaws were askew, so I took that off and disassembled, and also had to cleanup the drive shaft threads a bit, as the pusher had come loose and bugged them.

Thx OR! It was a red letter day! unlike today, nothing to go to... I blame SB Sunday

Predawn Friday on the way to work, my periferal vision picked up a brown box on the curb. I couldn’t be sure if it was wood or cardboard, and I would be late if I stopped, so I passed it by, and suffered fantasies all day that it was for sure a Bonney Wrenches shipping crate with at least one Wilton baby bullet & PowerArm carelessly tossed away. And of course, it would be gone by the end of the day, probably to its doom in a landfill. I looked for it on the way home.
Well, it turned out be a wood shipping crate all right, but not local. REA shipping co name sets the dates of the box 1929-1960 (maybe the “11-46” is Nov1946?). There was also a shred of newspaper from 1970. IMG_1031.jpegThere was a couple pounds of brass fittings/valves, and it did have a (ca-1943) Bonney CV 3/4” single-offset DBE, but no vise of any kind.
IMG_1033.jpegThere were two empty 3M containers for vinyl tape, and a mystery item. It’s wood and concave, with a hole in the center and two toothed “blades” bridging the hole.IMG_1032.jpeg My first thought was something to shell corn, but I have no idea.
