Canedy-Otto Royal 16 Drill press, good score?

Last night I bought a Canedy-Otto Royal 16" drill press out of a closing auto body shop. It has a Baldor 1/2hp single phase motor, 6 foot column, two tables, and all the original parts as far as I can tell. I spent $100 on it. Good deal or not? I'm going to restore it and stick it in my garage as my outside dp.

I bought a Canedy Auto drill press from a Craigslist seller. I paid $100
I built a cabinet/table for the drill press. The US motor is mounted in the cabinet, I made pullies for speed change. I may have used the drillpress twice in 8 years. The clicking of the Clipper lace connecting the ends of the leather belt is a relaxing sound.

If you are referring to the quill and the drill table, both move up and down easily.

I like your press. C-O was dissolved in April 1942, and my press has a War Production Board tag on it which dates it from January to April of that year. Mine seems to be the last model made.

I like the style and feel of old machines. I am not in a hurry, so a little extra machine time and the old sounds are relaxing.

Great deal there! Very solid, heavy and accurate drill presses.

I was referring to the drill acer66 posted, but yours has the same issue. It's not easy to move the table up/down without a table lift. Buffalo, and some others, made a drill press with a sliding head, which IMO is the best design of all for easy adjustment.

Grab it--Cannedy's are good machines, including their Royal brand in later years. a fair price.
