Hi, My Yellow 3 Ton Daytona jack that is about 3 to 4 Years old does not go back down on its own. Once the weight is off the jack it stops and I have to push on it the rest of the way.I checked the fluid level and it appears okay and clean. Jack is greased. Any ideas?
Thanks

Just a WAG but there are 2 return springs tbat are attched to the base of cylinder pump & at the top or the chlinder rod to a block with 2 individial pins. See if the springs are still attached or possibly broken? I've personally never encountered this on mine (same jack) or any of my previous jacks so not sure if it's a common problem.

Maybe I should reword the title.
Please NO!. It is better this way.
Language has changed. TELUS, my cell phone provider called about making "improvements" on my agreement. It was a trick and I refused. I also discovered there had been a change in acceptable corporate language. When I opened this account decades ago, I agreed to a package. My package has become a bundle. I tried to get the very polite and agreeable female sounding person to humor me by using the word" package" I got her giggling, but not cooperate. I understand. "This call is being recorded for training purposes." BS. I don't want her to get in trouble, so bundle it is.
As far as I can tell, nothing has changed. Well maybe one little thingee, I am dressing left now.

My experience would have me looking for something restricting the return flow (green) The return circuit is often small to slow the speed of the return to reservoir. This restriction may be a broken off part of the valving from overtightening. Maybe some junk got into the reservoir when oil was added. There is no shortcut. Take it apart and buy the replacement parts at a hydraulic store. Most of the parts are generic.

Yes, if you're saying the green fluid is the return flow, then the spring is on the wrong side of the check ball.
It’s a pretty generic drawing, but doesn’t include the release circuit, Other than that it’s correct.

@OP

It’s impossible to say without some investigating. Does it stop at the same point regardless of vehicle height? If so, that would lead me to believe it’s something internal that is causing it to bind and will require some disassembly, if nothing is visible externally. If the stopping point varies, I’d investigate the release circuit and still might need to be drained/flushed looking for any seal particles that are restricting the flow during the release.

It stops where ever the weight stops pushing on it, I don't visually see anything the jack does work fine otherwise, I just have to step on it to get it to go all the way down which it does with very little effort.

If the center pivot is greased appropriately, maybe watch the lift arm as it drops to see if it’s binding on inner side of the frame rails. Obviously external fixes will be a less intrusive fix.

I had the same problem. It was the the pivot piece at the top where the pad is. I removed the 2 E clips that hold the black support bars on each side, then sprayed wd40 on the pivot piece and rocked it back and forth with a prybar until I could move it by hand. It doesn't have a grease fitting so I just packed it with grease as good as I could. See short video.
