2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

Stopped by the ReStore today and found the remnants of a plane and a few old boxes of staples for $3.



Drove by a ‘pop-up’ sale on the way home and found this Ridgid set for $10. No batteries or charger. I don’t really need another platform as I already have Milwaukee and Metabo, but I saw some Ridgid stuff on big clearance at HD.

Well, finally home for the weekend after some looong days in Boise,ID. I was able to get the Craftsman wrenches out of the truck and inventoried, not quite as good as I hoped as they are a bit more mixed than I originally thought, but they should still flip well as I don't have much in them.

Drove by a ‘pop-up’ sale on the way home and found this Rigid set for $10. No batteries or charger. I don’t really need another platform as I already have Milwaukee and Metabo, but I saw some Rigid stuff on big clearance at HD.

I love the subcompact 3/8 impact wrench, subcompact impact driver and lawn blower.

The drivers adjustable torque really works wonders for me.

I'd look on Direct Tools Outlet for a charger and batteries.

A RevereWare 2qt. Pot and lid for 2 bucks and a Lodge 10.5" griddle for 4.

The Lodge is a keeper as I've been making my own tortillas for taco Tuesday.

I've been updating my kitchenware and may keep the RevereWare or try to eBay it.

The unusual Bonney vise, that cleaned up nice.

Thanks. I was very pleased as I wasn't sure what was underneath all the rust and grime. Sometimes it's a fine line between restoration and preservation, but in this case, it's an easy call.

My participation here is likely to dwindle soon. I took a full college schedule, which I haven't done in a long time, on top of my HS schedule.

Couple of items today. And a mystery X-55 Tool that has wings to go into a handle, so some kind of set of tools?

SK 40161 extension, 1/2-inch drive.
SK 1 1/4 socket 40134, 1/2-inch drive.
Plvmb pebble 5467 breaker bar, 1/2-inch drive.
Armstrong No 1 Packer Ratchet.
NDS Perfect Handle screwdriver, rough, but the first one I have ever found in the wild.
And the mystery X-55 tool.

Got this stuff in a 5 gallon bucket full of old rusty tools, scrap metal, and other misc bits. The wrench was sticking out of the top and I just bought the bucket of stuff for it and the rest of this stuff was bonus. The wrench is a blue point 1 7/8x2. Biggest wrench offered in the double box line up. Not a big snap on guy but I love the old blue point wrenchs.

I had a good and a bad day, caused by my own inattentiveness... (Kicking myself...)

HS Flea, did OK but could have been much better;

SO slip joint pliers, need a bit of cleanup: Casterol toy truck, adn the best quality badge retractor I've ever seen - this one will replace my "mini flashlight retractor" that lives on my camp/hunting suspenders; a littl control lever, and a cub scout knife - Imperial brand. Also need a little cleanup but its not bad at all!



And what would have been the high point, but dropped to the low point of the Flea market: I had bought and bagged a nice set of Indestro flair wrenches, plus two other wrenches, plus what would have been my first Plvmb Adjustable wrench. I set them down some place to look at something, and left them there!





What is worse is I did the same last Dec leaving a book behind! Lesson - put the buys in the back pack! that is what it is there for - DO NOT carry things in your hands! I didn't go back as it is a 60 mile round trip and by the time I remembered adn could have left they would be wrapping up before I could get there )


On to yard sales: A DeWalt mini bar clamp (missing one pad) A B&C (Brinks and Cotton) 1" C-clamp, and a "split blade" driver (I have several, all made by me modifying an old driver) only marked "Tool Steel" - I think this one fits one of my binoculars.



Second Yard sale, Avon 64 Mustang bottle -enpty, but stil carried some scent; A small Jonie Hand warmer, and a abg if 50 vanes for fletching arrows.



And LaSt stop was to a fundraising "rummage/thrift sale" by a local group. 5 old "Bottle socket" class/era sockets, and old "possibly Duro/Indestro) hex drive socket, a flush trimmer bit, A 76 Antenna ball rescued from a fishing box (setup as a bobber), A Plvmb tappet wrench, and a Knurled nut

Replaced the felt spindle washer that was sandwiched between two thin metal washers and it's slightly better but still vibrating and making a squeaking sound. Maybe go back in and pack a bit of grease into the grinding wheel spindle. Why does fixing something always makes things worse till it makes it better?​

Nice find! Could you have introduced an out-of-balance condition in the dis- and reassembly? Truing the wheel may help in that case.

I identify with your leaving something behind. For me, it was just a bag of grease fittings that only cost $1.00, but it lead me to now always wearing a backpack and putting things in it as soon as I pay.

Believe it or not, the back side of that card (the French 'club' suit was actually derived from acorns on an older German suit, but today, I'm seeing three-leaf clovers! ), found inside a book, is center gravity garage relevant. Went back to the sale I went to yesterday. Everything was picked over. Got these two for $5 each. The one on the left is a 3 ton pro lift. The one on the right says 4000 lb aluminum mini. No idea who made it. Both work.

I think whatever’s on the back of the card is beyond obscure or crytic. Not aware of a “Gasoline” brand of playing cards, so maybe a fuel station brand like Esso or Flying A or Mobil?
