UPDATE***** The new link is the product my GC wants to use. He has used this product many times. Claims to have never had any issues. He is a *Certified installer of the product and it will come with a warranty. We are also doing a void fill under my slab. Please read the entire post.

Hello everyone, I am not a contractor, but rather have hired a contractor and I have some questions.

So, long story short I have a general contractor that's doing my garage floor. He swears by H&C commercial grade epoxy. I can't find much information in this product besides the manufacturer page.

****UPDATE****Here's the link:

It's a base, flake, and topcoating.

He stated that he has been using it for years and never had an issue. He has done dozens of floors with this product and others.

To add more context, the price DOES NOT matter to me. I want the longest lasting and toughest stuff on the market. We are grinding/etching/void filling and moisture testing. It's going to be done correctly. With that being said, is this a good product I can expect to last? Is this a good option?

We need more information than what is provided so far. The H&C epoxy is a 100% solids which makes for a good base coat. However, how much color flake is being applied? What kind of clear coat? Is an epoxy primer being applied beforehand? Is he grinding or is he etching? One or the other needs to be perfomed, but not both.

If price is not as much of a concern, a durable and long-lasting coating system would consist of an epoxy primer, a 100% solids epoxy color base coat, full broadcast color flakes, and two coats of a polyurea or polyaspartic clear coat.

I would recommend fully vetting a GC when it comes to concrete garage floor coatings. Most know just enough to make a mess of things. They typically make a lot of incorrect assumptions. Every once in a while, one knows what they are doing, but we have found it not to be common.
