I noticed today that it appears one of my welding helmets is missing a battery . it works fine, my other one has 2 battery's in it , one on each side of the helmet. I put a second battery from the one helmet in, makes no difference. makes me wonder if they are paralleled . Probably never find the clip or battery, and probably never find a replacement clip either.

They are usually in series. need two new batteries... dependents on brand, some uses 2450 not 2032.

Now you got me thinking. I'm trying to remember if have two batteries in series increases the voltage, or if that's with two batteries in parallel.

I figured they would be parallel, but with 1 battery missing it works fine ? :dunno: they are 2450's
Dunno, my hf $40 one is in series. The Jackson safety one is also in series. You can test it right with an ohm on lowest setting. Just be careful on probing other places you are not suppose to. Might fry those logic gates used.

I've never come across a helmet that would work with only one battery. Does it by chance have a grinding mode.

it does have grind mode, which I never use. I prefer a full face shield for grinding

I'm going to have to try it again and see .

well, I'll be damned... I was outside at the warehouse today unloading my trailer , and low & behold, there's the battery & holder for the welding helmet . It must have fallen out the last time I used it... but it was 30' from where I was welding, but you know the story on that kind of stuff.
it had been run over a few times , the battery is damaged but the holder sort of survived. it is usable at least
I guess I have to take back that it works with one battery . I was basing that on that I had just used it & it was fine. :shocking:
