Got one near los angelas. Im not sure what the girl in the wedding dress is doing with that pipe wrench though.

When I lived in LA I went there a few times with my F cars and P cars. I always enjoy turning my own wrenches. The guy that ran the place was extremely nice, had a few lifts that were always booked and kept a pretty neat shop with decent rates.

The biggest issue was the type of lifts he had. I think if he could have figured out how to have more 4 post alignment style lifts he would have been busier.

I can say that I hope he has done well.

I never had much time to use either the auto shop or the wood shop. “NCOs work for a living” - implying officers don’t. Bull ******* ****. Depending on the branch I guess.

I love using the Auto Skills Center on the base and it's saved me a ton of money. I've also learned a tremendous amount from both other customers and the staff. The mechanics are a great resource always willing to help out and provide supervision. I am lucky to have a full service garage including welding, tire mounting, alignments paint both, etc. A bay only costs $12 an hour. I just helped out a Chaplain there today who needed to drain his gas down to a 1/4 tank to ship the car back stateside. Photo is from a last fall when I worked on the clutch linkage.

Grafenwoehr. There is a smaller one on Vilseck about 15 minutes away. Heidelberg and Mainz-Kastel closed back in the 2000s. Lots of bases are gone now.

IMHO, I don’t think civilians have enough discipline to commit to and follow the rules required to make a Community hobby shop work, they also will have enough disposable income to avoid needing one.
