HiKOKI Japan Voltage Requirements

Some of their tools run on 100V and some of them run on 200V. Will the 100V requirement work with the U.S. 110 to 120 volt receptacles?

How about their cord plugs? Do their cord plugs fit into a U.S. style receptacle?

Just make sure the cord is made in japan!

Should probably be fine but stuff like this can be hard to tell. I think the frequency in japan might be different? Not certain. The 220v tools could also probably work on the US 220V power although at a different frequency...

The voltage used throughout Japan is uniformly 100 volts, A.C. There are two kinds of frequencies in use—50 Hertz in eastern Japan and 60 Hertz in western Japan.

Says 100vac and either 50 or 60 Hz, so tool probably fine on either

For simple motors it'll just spin at a slightly different speed. As long as there's no more complex electronics inside... Modern angle grinders do have certain systems like a slow start, so I'm not sure, but older ones should work on anything.

It’s a brushless motor, with the “fancy” electronics this would entail.

I’ve brought a bunch of electronics back and forth from/ to Japan over the years. There is absolutely no issues at all running Japanese electronics here or vise versa. The difference in voltage / hertz is too minimal to have an effect.

Only practical issue is Japan doesn’t use a ground on their plugs. Just a hot and neutral. So if you are taking a us grounded 3 prong chord to Japan you need a 3 to 2 prong adapter and that’s it.
