I am buying a house that doesnt have a shop, and this is unacceptable to me...lol
I am in Appling GA
I will be having a 30X50 shop erected, along with at least 1 full length lean too so i can park my trailer under a roof, maybe 2 so i can put my truck under the other
there is the Quicken factory that isnt far from me that is one option.
Also there is a local place called Boss Buildings that does the work to put them up
And another somewhat local place Bull Buildings that also does the assembly on site
Does anyone have any input? i know some here have used Quicken with great success, but there is also a nightmare thread...
I wont be assembling and erecting the structure as i dont have the time, or equipments.
I will wire it, plumb it etc.
I also want a vapor barrier insulation (double bubble style)
any input

I am a Quicken dealer and have been pleased with the product. There have been several improvements to the system since the thread you mentioned. I think you would be happy with the building.

My recommedation is to find a local turnkey builder. Mine is 30x40x12 with a 30x20 clear span loft. I also spec'd the 1 ton traveler hoist to be designed in. Insulation is plastic backed fiberglass over the frame before sheeting, and an additional 8" strapped on the ceiling. Very easy to heat and cool.

Quicken has a GA factory, and they have assemblers in the area they use, so i may go that route. Im hoping since they recommend the people, they do good work.
There are also a couple of local options for contractors i may look into.

@goneracin, any progress on this build and who you're using for a builder? I'm in Georgia (Savannah) and also looking for a building but I'm quickly realizing there is a LOT of riff-raff in this industry. I got quoted for a Quicken Steel build and while I felt good about the product and the supplier, the dealer situation is less than par. This particular dealer was not local and the terms in the contract are ridiculous, especially the payment schedule. (30% due at signing, 40% due at delivery of drawings, 30% PRIOR to delivery). That's a recipe for disaster.

Call Quicken and let them know you are unhappy with the dealer. They have a pool system that all the leads go into and any dealer can pick any lead. Ask them for a specific dealer in your area. They have made vast improvements over the last couple of years in the assembly of the buildings. I think you would be pleased.

very little progress.
It turns out my land has a wetlands on property, so the county is a pain in the *** to work with.
I have decided not to use quicken as both dealers i have talked with were terrible, and wouldn't directly answer questions, or help with finding a decent installer.
I am more than likely going with a tube style building. I have had great communication with Precision Metal in NC
