Hey Bull, and all of you other "Tool Display Board" aficianados on Garage Journal...

I paid careful attention to Bull's recent GJ advice to not "...drink the Tool Board Kool Aid", and presumably pay too much for a tool display board. Well, last Saturday I went to the Auburn auto auction and swap meet in Auburn, Indiana (see my related posts elsewhere on GJ). And while I was there, I saw just one Tool Display Board for sale.

Oddly enough, it was NOT by a tool manufacturer, (at least I don't THINK that the Fram Oil Filter company offered their own brand-name tools?) :headscrat But it was a cool-looking display board, for sure.

The first thing I thought about when I saw this display board was Bull's warning: "Please folks. Don't drink the tool-display-board kool aid."

So, as I carefully looked it over, I repeatedly chanted the warning to myself: "Don't drink the tool-display-board kool aid....Don't drink the tool-display- board kool aid....Don't drink the tool-display-board kool aid..."

I liked the board; its vintage appearance would look nice in my shop with my other antique signs, etc. But that warning just kept echoing in my head again and again... :eyecrazy:

And then I saw the price tag: :scared:

Whew! Warning not really needed THIS time...at least not for poor old LUMP!
But thanks anyway, Bull!

****! As I started reading this, I was chuckling about how my words were with you that day. But, I assumed the story would have a happy ending and you would grab the board for a song. That price blows.

What I have noticed is that some folks see the old display boards as "antiques," and as anyone who has shopped in coastal Maine towns knows, that word makes any item a triple-digit affair.

Better luck next time, Lump! My own Kool-Aid warnings will bite me in the ****. I will probably unload four boards on here, and I am going to have to ask very reasonable prices.:spit:

Hey, and keep me in mind on those boards when you get ready to sell.

I'll be gone for most of the next 4 days, running my fall swap meet. But when I get home each evening, I'll check on Garage Journal for the latest and greatest news in the world!

Ok, will do. Not sure they are brands that you dig, but I will give you a head's up when I am ready. I try not to list too many things at once, because it's easy to get overwhelmed with packing and shipping duties. I am waiting to clear out some ratchets and maybe the charity deal first, then I will list the boards.
