I did a search and din't find anything...........

I want to put a hot / cold water hose bib in my garage. We've run the pipes but I'm having a hard time finding a good solution. I found one mixing valve solution that was $800 for the valve. Seems I'm either not finding the right product or I've under estimated what these cost.

Any help?

Are you putting in a sink or just spigots? One idea would be a washing machine station. HD or Lowes should have that. Oatey is one manf.

I've seen a hot and cold faucet with the freeze protection built in at a plumbing store. I think they were $60 or there about.

I just took standard water valve with 1/2 in and 1/2 out solder connectons, one for each and then used 1/2 copper and made my own spiggot leading from the two valves and then finished it off with a 1/2 to hose thread connector. Doesn't look fancy but works.

Not a sink, just a bib...

Similar to this one if I can find something. This is $850....

http://www.armstrong-intl.com/common/allproductscatalog/3031.pdf

I've got the pipes running down the wall and I don't know how to attach a fawcet without having it mounted in a sink.

The Armstrong unit looks like it has an anti-scald mixing valve similar to modern shower valves.

If you want something fancy you could get something like this:

If you want cheap- get a couple of boiler drains:

The cheapest way would be to have 2 hose bibs with a rubber hose wye mixing the water.

Assuming you want to adjust the temperature, you need a mixing valve.

Cheapest solution is to but a cheap shower valve and solder a hose bib to the outlet port.

Hey LetsJet,

I don't have one or any experience with these, but I saw this a while ago and filed it away for future use. It looks like it might be just what you were looking for and it looks to be about $80 directly from Moen. Good Luck

I bought a wall mounted faucet from Lowes for about $30 that has a 3/4 HB connection on the end of the short spigot. You can fold it against the wall when not in use and if you mount it up high you can attach a short section of old hose to it and loop it up so it doesn't drip or keep a bucket under it.

Here's one at home depot.

Do you really need a thermostatic mixing valve? This will maintain a constant temperature regardless of water supply fluctuations...If you just need an on-off valve for hot and cold that will mix the water together and come out a spout, how about something like this:

Its a laundry tub faucet that you can get at Lowe's or H-D for under $50...here's a link to a website I found. Just Google "laundry tub faucet" and you'll find plenty.
http://www.plumbingsupply.com/laundryfaucets.html

The spout usually has hose threads on it to attach a garden hose...Most of them have a clamp-style mounting, so you could attach it to a bracket or piece of wood hung on the wall....

Hope this helps,
Steve

Thats the best way. The last two houses I've had a regular Delta shower mixing valve. The downside to the shower ones is that the flow is not what you would call steller. It does fine for washing cars, but sometimes tha extra flow would be nice.

I use this one - was less than $100 seven years ago, you can hang a bucket on it if you need to. 50' hose reel is from Griot's.

Temperature mixing valves that will supply you with a constant water temperature are very expensive, and they also need service at least twice a year to keep them functioning properly. I have one at my store so we always have the exact temperature water coming out the facet. Unless you need this precise a measurement, I would just use a standard laundry faucet mixing valve.

I put a tankless water heater in my garage....so I needed a way to mix the temp. I got two quarter turn ball valves and a mixing hose for a washer. Then, my hose attaches to that.

After having quarter turn valves in my attached garage....I have gotten very used to this and would prefer not to have a normal type knob now.
