Miller 252 to 350P?

What's the concensus on the Miller 350P in regards to reliability and longevity?

I currently have a 20 year old 252 I bought used. It does everything I need and has been a solid machine.

A company was liquidating equipment from a buy out and I picked up a 2017 350P with 15A spool gun. It is a clean machine with 20.77 hours.

I'm just a hobbyist really but have made a little money here and there welding for people and could see the benefits of the 350P and spool gun.

I can keep the 350P and sell the 252 or keep the 252 and sell the 350, I can not keep both. My main concern is making sure the 350P is a solid machine and will be around for quite some time.

I don't have any direct advice on the 350p but for a while my brother was burning through a spool a day with one 2 days a week and as far as I know it's still kicking.

A 252 is a solid machine. We beat on the ones we have at work continuously. I can’t imagine a tougher environment for these things and they just keep going.

That's great to hear. I would think as long as they were in production the later models should be solid.

That's my only concern. I don't need the 350 and I assume the 252 would be less expensive to repair when the time comes. But any welder I have is going to lead a very easy life. Used a few times a week at most.

The 350P is hands down the best simple wire welder Miller ever made IMO. It doesn't have some of the fancy features that the Invision, XMT, Pipeworx or Dimension have but for just manual MIG work, its fantastic.

They're outstanding machines, I own one and have ran it hard for the last several years. Several shops I work with have 350P welders and they have had no issues with them.

Once you go pulse, you'll never go back. It's SO much better than short arc. Sell that 252 and keep the 350P. The pulse alone is worth it.
