I can tell you its loud as hell. I bought it returned it right away. I went with a tiny makita that is quiet as can be compared to that thing for a small trim compressor

I don't think you can beat that deal anywhere. Buy another 25' hose and you can leave the compressor out in the hallway while you work in each room. I actually put a 50' 1/4" hose on mine, no moving it around for me!

yeah I got the porter cable one because it came with a Straight finish nailer, which was the only nailer I was missing from my collection. I have a brad nailer, angled finished nailer and framing nailer already

I actually bought this HF cheapie:
http://www.rvsnmore.com/reviews/harborfreight/cp47407_aircomp/
They are all buzz boxes, so I solved the problem with hose. Surprisingly, I can disconnect the hose and that thing will hold pressure for months. I wish I could say that about my $900 compressor! I was also able to roof my pole building with this compressor. Set the compressor on the ridge and nailed away.

Do you have any other plans to ever use it again? For anything else bigger? If not that would be a good bargain. You could also always look on CL for a used one (or buy this), use it, then sell it again. I've done that with several tools (ie "rented" them) and it worked well.

If you are thinking you might be doing something bigger in the future, I would get a slightly larger one. Ie a small hot dog. At Habitat for Humanity we had a small-ish hotdog HF $100 special compressor running two framing nail guns on 100 ft lines just fine. The great thing about that would be you can leave it in your garage or outside the house and run the line inside, so it would be quiet.

ETA: That being said $80 for a compressor, starter kit, and gun is a great bargain!

yes i have plans do use it again. car detailing (to blow out water from tight spots), maybe some crown molding, install a new door and what ever else comes my way that my compressor can handle.

If you don't have a nail gun why not pay $30 more for a new compressor, and starter set?

the portercable pancake above is a really common, very good little comp, its haveier than it looks but will run up to a framing gun just fine. and due to its foot print is easier to transport in a car or truck. i had a husky 8gallon or so and the thing worked great wasnt super loud, but was so top heavy it always fell over in the truck and crushed in the airfilter. i replaced it because i found a good deal on a twin tank ridgid aluminum comp at home depot on clearance, but traded that for some electrical work.

now i have this dewalt and love it. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HZJLV2/?tag=atomicindus08-20 its ok on noise but otherwise is an awesome compressor for the money, and you can find refurbs cheaper

As others said, no warranty on CL stuff. All it takes is one drop and it's on borrowed time. Buy the new kit with everything you need. There is nothing special about mine at all.
