Are they putting something in the spray paint for easy clean up after taggers?
I painted a part over a week ago.. resprayed part of it.., **** turned into crows feet..
Now I'm pissed and get out the brake cleaner, the paint cleaned off like I was washing dishes.
This is the 2nd paint job in two months that has turned to ****. I have paint car parts for the better part of 40 years and never had any problems till now.

Rant over. It's been repainted with better paint.

Modern paints are required to be environmentally benign. Much of it may be safe for human consumption.

The stuff that made paint tough and effective is seldom, if ever, included in it’s formulation.

I have painted more than a few things. My limited experience suggests, the things to be painted must be clean, oil free solvent free and at a temperature that encourages the solvents to leave the paint in an orderly manner.
The picture shows what can happen when a new $1000
German made gun releases some trapped shipping oil. It was my fault. I must not have cleaned and flushed well enough.
This happened n September 13, 2012. I was tired and thought, I will get back to this tomorrow. After 12 years, I have not repainted the cabinet.

The first cost was partially, but not fully dry when you sprayed the second coat.

That first happened to my more than forty years ago, well before paint VOC levels were controlled.

It’s always easy to blame “them”, when in reality some of us have short memories.

Some of the Tractor supply spray paints have to dry a week or more if you don’t spray a second coat almost immediately (and risk a run).

They eventually dry hard and glossy, though. At least white and yellow do.

all spray paints are not created equal.
as Cobbler says, some take DAYS to dry enough to apply a second coat.
been there, done that.... had to strip it down with lacquer thinner, sand again, and re-shoot it.
called the factory's 1-800 number and was told "You have to wait at least 48 hours (at 70 F) before re-coat."

Always read the can. Some of them have different curing times. And the surface definitely needs to be prepped according to instructions.
