Cole-Hersee M705 marine battery selector- ... $2 for the lot
The landowner where I was 'shroomin' yesterday found my missing DH Russel #1 Belt Knife this AM, so I might head back thataway for another haul and to recover the knife. But first, I have her axe to grind.
you **** for the battery selector alone!

Great news on the knife!

I apparently showed up here after the bulk of the gas can discussions,

Aw, you don't know what you were missing! Search is your friend!

A lot of planned sales, not a lot at any and the first (and several others) were a bust, but did OK despite that!

Second stop, first score was probably the best:

Scissors, (second pair of this type/Mfg recently) Small pick handle, and the case, which I dug out of a long carpenters box under a bench. I opened the box, removed the tray, and pulled this into sight, and was like "really? in a tool box?" then I opened the case...

Y1a-Pick-handle-compas-scissors-case.jpg

And found this: A tempest .177 cal spring gun! Slipped it back in, finished "shopping" and asked how much? $10 for all! Those Tempest spring guns were the bees knees back in the day. so very happy!

Y1ba-Tempest-177.jpg

The pick handle will get immediate use, after a bit of fitting, for a US army pick I needed a handle for:

Y1c-Pick.jpg

Moving on, an oversize glass ornament:

Y8-lg-ornament.jpg

war movies for $5 total:

Y2-War-DVDs.jpg

A folding wind screen for a buck:

Y3-Wind-screen.jpg

Three bucks total at the next stop for an adjustable HP power supply; 10 and 30 VDC scales and adjustable amperage - the battery carrier, a bag of zip lock parts bags, adn a Coleman 502 stove!

Y4a-HP-PS-zip-bgs-Battery-carrier.jpg

The stove was $1 of the $3, so I didn't care much about condition - even if it turns out to be a parts stove. I know it needs a pump leather, cap gasket, and valve knob, minimum:

Y4b1-CM-502.jpg

Y4b2-CM-502.jpg

Dated 8-66. so 58 years old soon:

Y4b3-CM-502.jpg

Books were a buck each - 1917 Tom Swift, and 1915 Taras Bulba.

Y5-1917-1915.jpg

Last good stop, big forceps, Craftsman 5MM Tee handle (Ill be using this later today/tomorrow too)and ahose quick connect: $3 all

Today's humble haul:

53762557643_4aa53bd290_b.jpg

Cole-Hersee M705 marine battery selector. Dust, water, vapor and explosion-proof. I can actually use this when I restore my old Vanangon. Feels perfectly functional.

Three more file handles, complete with shiny Nicholson files. Files will go in the scrap bin, handles on not-shiny files.

Completely unmarked--including sizes--DOE.

$2 for the lot.

The landowner where I was 'shroomin' yesterday found my missing DH Russel #1 Belt Knife this AM, so I might head back thataway for another haul and to recover the knife. But first, I have her axe to grind.
Glad the knife was found!! Enjoy that special gift from your mom for many years to come!!

We’ve not managed to get out to many sales (or boot fairs) since moving house at the beginning of the year, with a couple of notable exceptions…

The village we have moved to has an annual garage sale on the first bank holiday in may. This is quite rare for the U.K. x garage sales aren’t a big thing here, but this local day seems to be well supported and was a great excuse to walk around our new community and talk to people. Sales were in individual garages and a map provided all orchestrated by the WI. My major purchase of the day was a husqvarna chainsaw, which yielded interesting comments as I walked around the rest of the village with it in my hand. A few other bits and pieces, but nothing photo worthy or antique, just good usable things.

The other exception being my almost constant perusal of FBM for stuff we need for the new place. This morning whilst waiting to pick my car up from the dealer an ad for a Lista tool cabinet popped up. Usually Lista cabinets are beyond my means, but this was listed as ‘as new’ and £150… so I jumped on it…

IMG_3394.jpeg

IMG_3395.jpeg

it’s been used, but still has the protective film on the drawer fronts. This thing is very well built (as you would expect from Lista) but each drawer is rated to 200kg…

We headed out kind of late for a few S Lake Tahoe sales. The first one was quite productive and I found a rare D-I 1-1/16” GMTK correct socket which I consider my find of the day. Klein lineman’s pliers, Wiss snips, Chevron ratchet wrench, two crossbars.IMG_5010.jpeg
Mixed mostly 1/4” drive set. Unmarked Plomb 1/4” drive ratchet, unmarked S-K extension, three Craftsman BE sockets, three mystery sockets and a 1935 Snap-On 9/32” drive socket IMG_5011.jpeg
Craftsman 1/2” & 1/4” drive =v= sockets IMG_5012.jpeg
Giller and two Thorsen socketsIMG_5020.jpeg
Mystery sockets from the 1/4” drive set. Any guesses?

IMG_2204.png
D-I 1-1/16” socketIMG_5015.jpeg
1945 Snap-on 1” socketIMG_5016.jpeg
At the second sale I picked up an empty DeWalt box for my neighbor. IMG_5025.jpeg
The final sale was a garage sale put on by a former seller at the Tahoe flea. He gifted me two rusty Barcalo combos which was a pleasant surprise. IMG_5013.jpeg

Outlaw, $10 is much cheaper than I paid for any of my Webley's,

I've been doing a bit of homework on this Tempest - apparently there were different makers and COOs' over time. This one is the, Webley built for Beeman "San Rafel, CA" model, and one of the better ones. It has the upgraded walnut grips -Ambidextrous but the oversize safety makes for a lump under a lefty's trigger finger...

Factory claimed 470 FPS, -not too bad. I have test fired it but not spent ant time trying for a group (no space and I don't need the neighbors complaining...) I've down loaded the manual so know where to oil it now.

All in all, I'm happier than ever with this buy!

Here is my small haul for the day, from a repeat seller who has a weird dichotomy of pricing, some super high, others really reasonable, not much in between.

I had been poking thru a plastic box, grabbed some Thorsen wrenches, couple of Beefy Stubby screwdrivers, etc, then he says he wants $20 for the box, won’t separate. Didn’t want to deal with the excess, but in hindsight should have. Also grabbed a BluePoint HS-12 high tension hacksaw, and another 4” Crescent Jamestown, $3 for both. Thought, Ok, will ask about the Metabo HD14 hammer drill, hope it’s on the low extreme. $15, w a bunch of bits in the box, worth it if the drill didn’t work, but it did!

Per our man on the continent @Monte , this was made / sold in 1980. 44 years old, not bad. I don’t expect to get parts for it without substantial pain. Might have been part of a Electrical Installer fleet at some early point in its life, says Metabo 16 in paint pen on the edge of the box, and Delta Star Electric across the face, and has a card for a Service Center for a place across the bay taped to the box.

Rabbit 2800 and Tortise 1000 for speed switch, Hammer and ¿Drill? For function switch. Can’t read the speeds off the nameplate, found a similar one on eBay. This will be a nice counterpoint to my Bosch 11202 hammer (digging holes with it today, tired now), when I don’t need massive power behind my work.

I had five planned stops, the first two were good, the others, not at all
53762096197_6f2ba36fce_b.jpg
The first was a family barn sale, as they cleared moms farm for sale. It started the day before, so I know I missed some stuff, but still, it was fun. Here I picked up the Blackhawk 610(?) speeder, SK Wayne 1" combo, thing-a-ma-jig, IHC wrench, small square implement wrench, and a P&C stubby.
Second sale was a pro run estate sale, nice spread, and here I found the Plomb flex speeder, Bonney refrig rat, two Billings DBE, push drill, and Disston burnisher.

Here is the thing-a-ma-jig, I know I have seen one before, but I cannot think of what it is

There should only be one maker for that: Webley in England. Beeman was the importer (you can sort of date Beeman imports by city: San Anselmo to San Rafael to Santa Rosa being the progression). Beeman, a professor of marine bio at SF State, tended to order various upgrades to products he imported from Europe, mainly to try and match the US market as he saw it. Good stuff, my Feinwerkbau was imported by him. Now, sadly, the business has been sold a few times and quality of most products has fallen drastically.

Not going to lie, was fully expecting that to be one of these:

But, that's definitely a HUGE You **** deal, mixed within a larger sucky haul!

(...BTW, I remember seeing those flag guns on TV a lot when I was a kid. I thought it was from old-school cartoons, but I can't seem to find a YT video to back me up. Maybe it's from silent movies? Can't seem to find that either...)

For your brand new Lista I think you've earned a YOU ****!

Ditto, even at the exchange rate (to USD), that's under $200, which is a great price for a smaller, tired Lista!

I went to 3!! estate sales today, partially to see some really cool old houses.
First sale did not have anything but the other 2 had some decent stuff.
the Superior pipe wrench looks new, they were a local company now owned by CH Hanson, but there is no COO marked.

Are you looking to buy am old house, or you just like looking at them?

There was talk on line for Turkish imports of the Tempest? (yeah, I know saw it on line so it must be true... :wtf: )

So is Beeman Precision Airguns separate from the old Beeman from the 40's or before and the pump up guns?

You **** deals here. That style hack saw was my favorite before I found the Sandvik made frames.

and a P&C stubby.

Great finds BMW, but the stubby is my fav. I've gradually gotten to where I really like stubbys and their different configs and types, full handle, small, socket drivers, even speeders. Getting closer to the work where feasible seems to give more control.

was fully expecting that to be one of these:

I saw and felt the grip, and was half expecting a real firearm, which is why I was like "Really? in a tool box of junk?"

Mind you, the end of the case was open, so it was more like a fulley enclosed holster than a case. I once made a holster like that from a carpet scrap, for mounting on a motorcycle's handlebar/forks for my 14" barrel Thompson Contender. I need to do the same for my T-van. - Need a new one to clear the scope that's now on it...

I agree about the "thing-a-ma-jig" being a vise jaw, I have an old Dunlap drill press vise with a similar jaw insert. And that "push drill" looks like one of the less common Yankee screwdrivers, a 20-1, 20-2, or a 20-3, depending on the size. I have maybe a hundred Yankee screwdrivers, and only one or two of this style, so are uncommon.

A Turkish company, Hatsan, bought up Webley's name and designs, but as far as I am away they never made a Tempest. They did, however, make other air pistols under the name. Are you thinking of Benjamin? They have been bought by Crosman, but the name and design's still survive.

Thanks for the info. I haven't gotten around to cleaning it yet, so not sure on the maker, but it was just different enough that I couldn't pass it up.

Haven’t been getting to the fleas much lately so today I went to two.
The combined haul:

- Williams 3/4 drive ratchet adapter
-Snap-On 3/4 industrial breaker bar bead
-Blue Grass 6” adjustable
-Mossberg Sterling wrench
-old Channellock duckbill
-Skyway winged clamp 1/4” socket
-Husky red dot 3/8 ratchet
-two cross bars, and an odd double knurl end bar
Also misc Snap-On, Matco, Bonney, Mac, Dasco,Thorsen, S-K, Proto, P&C, Apex, Kobalt, Blue-Point.
85551CC9-F397-4D62-8B01-0879592F6473.jpegBD1D0B4B-B2F2-4D4B-A119-F2B65662EC28.jpeg15AB685C-0B95-421B-ADDC-EFC153CF11D6.jpeg8C94FE1E-95EB-4755-94C0-C936778126FC.jpegF3B638AD-965C-4FCA-A5C8-8D1153E3F7C7.jpegA207A37F-9127-4933-A203-83636E8DC5FF.jpeg
I was disappointed the new Proto bar doesn’t fit my vintage 1” Proto ratchet head. The bar diameter ‘s smaller. Oh well, it was cheap enough.

I am however stoked that the oddball double knurl bar perfectly fits this…the Walden extra long extension t handle from last month. Now officially a “T-handle!”.

No idea what the knurl bar was, but some storage guys had it in their tools. Talk about right place at the right time.

Got some more descent finds over the weekend. Very happy about the mini Gott cooler, had my eyes peeled hoping to find one. I dont know if the socket sets are complete but they are in good shape. This lot set me back $53. I saw the Gott after I paid for my pile, had to go back.1000015363.jpg1000015364.jpg1000015365.jpg1000015366.jpg1000015367.jpg1000015368.jpg
That’s a nice clutch of nearly-pristine Bonney Zenel tappet (and a few other DOE) wrenches!

Apparently, I erred yesterday, spending most of it leisurly advancing a pliers display pegboard panel project. Driving to Jake’s Flea w MrsLS & LesserSonJr this morning, we passed quite a few “Yard Sale Saturday” signs. Sigh.
Jake’s was well-packed, but I dithered over Bob the Toolman’s recent acquisitions, ending up with just the US WOOD 1944 intrenching tool, aluminum leader box and glass cabinet pull. From other vendors I picked up a sawed-off shovel handle **** repurposed as a 2-man saw handle (the unmarked hardware looks mid-20th Century to me, but it’s complete), Stanley Handyman P3 driver, Stanley 7/16 nutdriver, screwhook, and C.W. Stolte Remscheid flatnose pliers. All for $14.IMG_1863.jpeg
Leftbehinds:
I took some pics of barn augers, but I suppose we’re over that by now. IMG_1856.jpegIMG_1853.jpegIMG_1857.jpegIMG_1851.jpeg
And I looked for the second time at an interesting linesmans pliers with two small guage stripper holes and a lanyard hole in one handle made by Palmer of Meadeville PA. If I see it a third time, I will probably buy it.

Been behind on the thread, here are a few *****:

Outlaw for the little air pistol, very coool!
Oak park for those Snappy wobblers, worth 10 times that!
Volkswomble for the Lista:oops:
inasilentway for the Snap on box
NJ marty for the Bonneys, Thorsen set and the Carhartts
Smokeshow69 for the table saw
genog for that Snap on socket set

Plenty of sales around the last few weeks but the good ones have been nonexistent. Scrounged up a few things at the flea though...Had a weird day yesterday, people were way pushy. Two different dudes actually came up and started digging through the same box I was in (at different booths even), then another was breathing down my neck so bad it was creeping me out. For a bunch of offshore wrenches at the flea market. :ROFLMAO:

Anyway I was happy to find the SuperKrome stuff, hoping I can fill out the sets a bit so if anyone has extras let me know!

Partially complete SAE combo set for $10, I don't think the pouch is SK but it's well made.

IMG_5524.jpg

A few larger metric Superkromes, $10
IMG_5525.jpg

Some larger Proto chevrons for another $10
IMG_5526.jpg

And for the final $10, Snapon combos and a couple sockets, B shield combo, some mixed Proto sockets, and a little Craftsman =v= set which is convenient cause I just organized all my Craftsman 1/4 inch stuff!

Slipped out between sessions on the T-van brake job. 4 planned stops; three produced, first was my second to last from yesterday as he was still dragging things out:

First grab was the heavy bamboo pole - Boat or wharf? only 5 ft long and 2 eyes including the tip. The pole seems in pretty fair shape. The Penn reel seems functional, but certainly needs gone through:

Some aluminum plates (materiel) - Motor may be useful for something, if I can get some specs, on it. Proto screw starter/magnet, and 4 plastic vials for smal parts. $6 all told here.

second stop I got this Nerf gun for $5 as I keep finding the darts for these on my walks, so I'l see if I can get he cats to chase them.

Last stop was an estate sale, Except for the fancy Jar which came from stop 1 - the glass is purple (not black) and SWMBO claimed it before my oldest daughter even saw it (daughter loves purple...) So 2 pine come Candle holders and a vintage Spatula I need to de-rust. $2 there.
