Today's flea trip (Lugz 2024_32) was a banner day!
The khaki shirt is wartime. It fits, which is amazing to begin with if you know anything about most WWII uniforms. To say that it also fits my collecting persona - figuratively, would be an understatement. You could not find a more Lugnutzian shirt. If you don't recognize the insignia, that's an Army Service Forces patch. There were only three components to the Army during WWII: Army Ground Forces (all the Armor, Infantry, etc Divisions, etc), Army Air Forces (US Air Corps, etc) and Army Service Forces. All the "Technical Services" - Quartermaster Corps, Ordnance Department, Corps of Engineers, etc) all belonged to ASF. ASF was the unseen infrastructure, working very closely with the War Production Board, to keep the war machine (vehicles, comms, tools...) coming and running! It even has the right rank!!
Staying with the wartime theme..., that folding rule was "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN".
The offset Single Open End wrench is a ****** wrench marked with the vehicles it services (late 30's) on the shank. Marked "H M Co." on the flip side, which, aided by the J-1142 number, I think I have correctly deciphered as (pre-Kent Moore) Hinckley-Meyers!
Fingers crossed that the J.J. Ryan screwdriver is not a dupe. I have two, just not sure the OALs.
Last but definitely not least, those who know of my Precision-Bilt Master Set and Box/resto know where that combo wrench set is going!

I could be wrong, but it's possible that this wrench... ...made (I think) by Hinckley-Meyers Company, was used for adjusting something (bands?) on a c. 1937-1938 Automatic Safety Transmission (AST). If I am right, it's a very interesting wrench for a very significant juncture in automotive...

Today's modest haul:
Blue Point Rethreader Dies set--5 original dies--Wiss 10" shears, another nice file handle with a not-shiny file, for a change, 3/4 Hargrave cold chisel (unused), M. Klein & Sons screwdriver.
Very well made screwdriver.
And a cute little Estwing finish hammer:
$3 for the lot.

Friday neighborhood sale w/45 homes.
Pulled in at 7:00am & first house I see has a Mac box in the front yard.
I stop. No one is there. I look around & see a red Snap-on box on a table. No price tags.
Several other fellas stop as well, no one comes out of the house.
Frustrated, but with 45 other stops near by, I leave & make other stops.
I circled back 4 times before the owner was there.
Finally able to ask how much for the MAC box? "Make an offer".
How's $50. ? Sold. How much for the Snap-on box? "We need $10. for that". Sold.
MAC Box is filthy. Guy worked in a quarry So lots of cleaning in store.
(also 2 bags of lawn nitrogen from another house $10.)
The Snap on box KR224 has been freshly repainted. A nice job, but would of rather had it untouched.
Not sure what it held maybe a 3/4 set?
From the same local these for a dollar each.

Ridgid wrenches, Fairmount spud, Cornwell socket & whatnot.
At this point, I had 2 other neighborhoods and a town-wide sale to head to, but things were getting a little wobbly with the Mac box on it's side & unsecured, so I drove 4 miles back home, & unloaded, then back at it...
And I drove around for another 4 hours.
And didn't find another thing.

First stop for me was a bust. Hit several neighborhood sales waiting for the ES I had actually gone for to open. Will post those up later (tool these while waiting for it to open).
All of this was $10, all at the same sale.
Hold-E-Zee screwdriver (larger size than the stubby I already have).
Saw vise, looks like it may have been cracked/welded. May end up in the school shop, as my "other half" is bringing back hand tools for Woods I.

Nice find. Whoever was making those for Snap-on also made them for MAC and K-D and probably others. I have two (2) very early MAC (pre-Sabina, "Tallmadge, O.") sets - one copper-coated (NC), in a coppery box, and one blued steel (NF), in a blueish box, shown on the MAC thread and also the 'Tap and Die' thread, linked here, if you want to have fun comparing. Jock (@Provincial) thinks Jawco, which is a pretty good bet. We discussed a good bit on that thread as well.

I snuk out again today, and while not a big win like last Friday, I did get something I spotted in the pics that I'm happy about. all else was bonus.
Bonus stuff first:
Square D reversing switch -Always handy -$5
Drivers: 2 Stanleys No 20 and 70, 2 unmarked. but the one similar one I thing is also Stanley made at least; and an AIRCO "multi wrench" for welding tank valves:
And the goal of the trip: parts bins, but not plastic, the trays are aluminum! I have a 64 drawer version twice this size in width. this one is 32, but the same drawers and height.
This was also $5, and after I asked for an all in price it came to $12.
I'll clean it up, I've already dumped over half the contents (most of the reminder is brass stuff), and paint the frame, black like my other one - None are MIA I just had those out looking for brass fasteners:

Jaws are chipped up and there's a chunk out of the collar on the tower. Nothing functionally bad. I wasn't interested, don't really know anything about that model, if it's rare or not, etc. $100 negotiable if someone is interested. No connection to seller other than I know his name and see him every week, known for big driftwood pieces he cleans up and lacquers for interior decoration displays.

I went to a sale at a local garden center just four miles from my house, run by my favorite estate sale company. There was a lot of retail items but the deals weren't all that great today (50% of items' retail pricing). SWMBO and I will go back tomorrow at the end of the sale for the best prices.
However, i bought this heavy box of old tools that was marked at $25, and the woodturning knives at $5. The box was full of wrenches and sockets, with a few other items mixed in. I won't do my usual catalog of every item, but here are a few pics of the more interesting items.

I spent fifteen minutes going through a box of wood-handle files looking for something different--I'm getting picky as I have nice wood handles on all my needed files now. That one just stood out, and the fact that it has an actual usable 1/4" rattail file in it.... Every other file in the box was mirror-shiny. Some Nicholson Black Diamonds and such, but ruined
Now to find a rosewood file handle--gotta be out there.
BTW: You **** for the parts bin!

I was able to get to three garage sales and two estate sales, with mostly good results.
The first sale was a moving sale, were I found the mostly complete Vlchek set (needs a ratchet), Snap-on Breaker and driver, along with a pair of Diamond duck bills. The other garage sales were both busts, but they were in the vicinity, so...
The first estate sale was good. An old biker clearing out, he had good tools, and some very nice antiques
Stanley and C-man chisels, unmarked body hammers, Snap-on drivers and DBE, Craftsman spinner with socket, Armstrong combo, complete drill index, Lufkin advertising tape, and this little guy
a little wooden Hippo, which my wife has fallen in love with. I will probably go back on Sunday for half-price day, and see about some of the antiques.
last sale was the estate of a logger/rigger/truck mech, and the tools reflected that! I don't need a 1" drive Snap-on socket set! But, I did find some little guys with a little digging. Bicycle pump (as I cannot find mine), air gun pellets, rusty but salvageable chisel, Wizard extension, P&C thing (not sure about it), Proto/Plomb sockets, Snap-on/Craftsman/Dayton sockets, Plomb ignition wrench. And I will definitely be going back there on half price day!
All told, I spent just under $50, and I will make that back easily.

I can't say I've ever seen a rosewood handle on a file... maybe a wood chisel handle conversion?
Thanks on the parts bin - , I've only seen 3 sets of these and I own 2 or them... Someone on GJ posted a set, I think like my 64 bin set.
I'm still stumped on who made them. Very similar to Akro Mils, but their history claims they were always plastic...
Here is a small haul from a single ES among three attempts. Looked promising in the ads, but all the tools gone by the time I got there EG route to an appointment. The one sale had decent tools, but none I needed. One left behind regrets was a telescoping roller for drywall work. Tho I don’t do drywall, the telescoping pole was quite nice for the price.
The slides are full extension, self closing, guy claimed 100# capacity. The wire cutters are my first pair of Knipex, well loved apparently, the head is slightly off set.

Problem is, I also picked up an NIB pair of Klein 6" dikes just the day before... the Kleins don't get used so much, but cost about five times as much.

Wait. What?! What size? Midget? Based on the style of the logo, this is probably later, in the Plomb/PTII-owned era, but even ersatz Vlchek tools are rare. I don't know that I have ever even seen that box before, let alone the tools you are not showing inside. Either you're being intentionally coy or underplaying this find, Beemer. Nice snag!

Not much today but this nice rock island 591 with some original burgundy / maroon paint. #43 on the under carriage. She had very little use jaws are still crisp and no bends or breaks.

Slow day at the Col FM today, did good at one TOO though:
Started with the SW Vac Gauge for $5, then a 3/8 drive SK ratchet rebuild kit and an "umbrella clam" for another $4 I turn these clamps into camp gear.
BSA hatchet for $20. Someone actually polished this a bit though; the markings are thin:
Turquoisey stuff for $2, last of the FM stuff, the Amethyst was another $2 at a yard sale.
A $2 jack at another YS - the TOO, Not sure what make this was, but the first I've seen with a gear reducer what is left on the label shows a truck so I'm assuming a bit more lift than most. - I have several of these I use on the TT for leveling, and I need to decide/make up a common drive for these and make an adapter for the battery drill -I'll test it lifting the TT tire as that seems to strain the ones I have:
Same place, a Minn Kota Endura 30 (30 lbs of thrust) for $10. The woman there offered it for $15, but "I'm not sure if it works" - I declined but bought the jack, and as I was near at the car she came up an asked if I'd take it for $10. I asked to test it and it tested good, so I gave her the $10.

South Texas heat-induced lethargy combined with cleaning things from the warehouse haul have prevented me from keeping up with this thread, but I waded through the last week of posts today. I'm sure more of you deserve *****, but the ones come back to mind are @jb books for his free haul and @BlueBomber for his $25 mechanic's starter set in a wooden box.

We went to several sales around Tahoe and weren’t finding anything. I finally grabbed these at two different TOOs. A Powr-Kraft stillson wrench, some Klein strippers and an offset General screwdriver still in the package. 
We eventually made our way to a neighborhood sale with 18 homes participating. Most of them were drive by’s but as we were about to head home I checked out one last one. No tools were to be seen but I mentioned to the seller that I collected old tools. He said that I might like to see his grandfather’s tools. He climbed a ladder in his garage and pullled down a box of dusty treasures. I grabbed these from the box.
I showed a few of these to my wife who was sitting in the car by this point and she suggested that I ask the seller how much for the whole box. I didn’t need much arm twisting so I ended up with all of his old treasures.
