I need to add a wall/ceiling fan in my garage. I'd live to get a mini split, but that's out of the budget right now. I'm specifically looking at these two units Lowes Amazon. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. TIA.

No experience with either one but I will say that a few of my buddies have wall mount ones that oscillate by themselves and I think I would prefer that over one you have to manually move unless you are just working in one spot for long periods of time.

Have you thought about a window a/c unit? I put two medium sized ones in my 40x72x14tall shop and they definitely help.

I have a window AC unit in my 28wX32d garage. It is near the corner where my toolboxes/workbench are. It is not big enough to really drop the temp on a 90+F day but it does really help lower humidity. I also had a floor stand oscillating fan. Kind of like a flipped over version of your amazon link. It was always in the way though so I shortened the stand a bunch and mounted on my toolbox. It is placed so it blows across the output of the AC unit so it helps spread it beyond the one corner. It hasn't gotten hot here yet so I have been using just the fan. It is a huge help so I can't comment on which of your links would be better, but I wholeheartedly recommend a fan.

The fans in my garage were left behind by former tenants of my rentals. One is a pedestal fan and the other is a 20X20 box fan. Neither of them cost me any money. The box fan pulls air through 20X20 furnace filters. It catches a lot of the dust in the shop.
I have yet to see a day so hot that I want to install Air Conditioning.
When it gets too cool to be comfortable in the Workshop I turn on the 5 KW electric unit heater.
Usually I work with the Garage Door open.

I have a 42” ceiling fan in my shop over the work bay, along with a 2-1/2 ton heat pump and a 16” square output squirrel cage fan that I can roll around as needed.

Something to keep in mind (that I didn't)... I have a ceiling fan in my garage, but there is a light above it so when I'm working underneath the fan/light creates a strobe effect. My buddies and I joke that someone will have a seizure from the flickering, but seriously it is really annoying. I'll be moving it or the light.

I hadn't thought about window units. No windows in the garage though. This reminded me however, they make the portable units with wheels.

My experience with oscillating fans are they don't work well. That being said the only time I remember using them was in elementary school and the fans were 30 plus years old 🤣🤣🤣

Just 4 reviews and they aren't very positive.
Acme Tools has the same fan with 36 reviews at 4 plus stars. The same fan with a remote on Amazon is about the same rating. I took the 2 bad reviews with a grain of salt as well. They both said they're loud. To me, that is a VERY subjective thing. The video posted didn't sound bad to me either.

A lot of people are getting out of the green dope business and are posting their equipment ,that includes wall mount oscillating fans, for sale on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace..I got two for really cheap in the San Francisco area one of them runs 24/7 in the garage in the summer. The other is on a timer.

I do like my ceiling fan in that it moves the air around ok in a low ceiling garage, but its not blowing my work all around or papers off the bench. It still clears the vehicles and other projects pretty well.

Get out the saws and make a hole for a window unit.

A friend of mine put two similar fans in his shop. One on the left and one on the right. The one on the left points one way and the one on the right points the other. It puts a nice cyclone breeze in his shop. If he has both doors open, then he points them both in the same direction the breeze outside is flowing to help blow air through the shop.

The previous owner of my house put a ceiling fan in the shop designed to go in a house. The plastic blades melted in the summer heat in the top of the shop peak.

I now use floor standing fans that I move around the shop as needed. That way I can point one at me wherever I'm working. I have two in the shop that I move around.

With two large overhead doors and the two fans, I can work in the shop most days until it gets really hot. Then I close the doors and turn on the AC.

Not a ceiling fan.... But man does it put out air...
I stopped by a local HVAC company and asked them if I could have the blower out of one of the furnaces they replaced for someone...
FREE, FREE, FREE...
A handle and simple L bracket legs were added... Added a grounded plug with an 8' lead...
Has a 120V motor that drives a squirrel cage... Very quiet... With lots of air...

The lack of noise makes this the winner here... Most everything else suggested will drive you crazy when it's running on high. Just my $0.02.

I did this once. But I covered mine with a wood frame with chicken wire and had it blowing out the lower garage vent. A lot of these have multi speed motors so you can set the desired air flow or noise lever.

I picked these up at HD for I think $69 each. They throw a good bit of air, and are fairly quiet, usually I have hearing protection on if I’m grinding and almost always music so the sound pretty much gets lost. One thing I like about squirrel cage style fans is the air blast is a lot more focused, I can aim them at my legs when I am welding for some relief and not blow away my shielding gas because the air at table height is calm.

I like and have been using Air King fans for 30+ years, and I still have and use the oldest. Most of mine are floor fans, from 14" to 30". I do have one 30" ceiling mount in the garage. Air King fans produce a large volume of air, and are quiet running. When you compare Air King to other brands, check the CFM for each model.

Check this page for their offerings in commercial and industrial fans. The one I chose is the middle picture in the bottom row. Unfortunately that particular model seems to have been discontinued.

I don't know where you are, but it gets to be like Hells front porch here, when my home was built the house AC was sized to add a second zone in the garage a 2.5 oversized garage with no windows, my late wife nixed that idea, said it wasn't needed.

The first time we were here that god was cooking SC, nothing could be done out there. I got a 24" inch drum fan and that helped sitting on top of a cabinet it cooled off some.

Hurricane Matthew came four months later and no power for 11 days while I was off working, she wanted a whole house generator and I got a mini-split out there. Wouldn't be without it today, the company that installed both units got 0% financing for me. I still use that company and they still offer 0%.

I bought a TSC drum fan and an 18x36 window. Built a short plenum to connect the two. I can run it in exhaust or fresh air mode. In fresh air mode it allows me to HVLP paint using screen door with paint filters in opposite corner of garage. For cooling purposes, I crack the garage door and it moves a gentle breeze across the width of the garage. I do have to be careful with the TIG welder, even on low I need to watch the effects on shielding gas.

Same here... one is mounted on the wall by my workbench and is pointed to blow air on me when I'm standing in front of the bench. Yes, it is a bit loud, but so am I when I'm working. The other floats around the shop wherever I need it.

Menards is running a sale on them right now for $40, $36 if you factor in the rebate.

i got three cheapy, very cheapy ceilng fans (23 years) to keep the mosquitos at bay, and for welding, I got a 24 inch loovered barn fan in one end wall that moves alot of air. Tractor supplies sells them, ouside under the lean to where the bendpak is, i got a max air barrel fan hanging upside down from the roof framing that swivels, so when working on the car i can spin it to cover my area

the barn fan, I can hit the shop with the leaf blower from one end and the barn fan will **** all the dust out in seconds, i think my neighbor hates that , but never said anything

one day i would like to do the barrel fan inside the shop too

I cut a hole in the wall for my window AC unit. I saw a bunch of warnings not to do this but for the life of me I can't see a problem. My hole is trimmed a little differently that it would be if there were a window there but other wise, to me, it is the same thing.

I've been thinking of doing this?
I have a ceiling fan I found on the side of the road in my 30 by 32, it is an older pull string model, but is winter/summer reversible.

Not in a garage, but I have an 18" version of this in our greenhouse...

It's been running on low speed, non-stop for almost 3 years now.
I have the name-brand version of whatever this is mounted above my workbench somewhat at an angle and diagonally so it hits the entire workbench area where a person would stand.

Dear god it's amazing. One of the best garage upgrades I've done. When I use my other workbench I miss it dearly.

I mounted three Harbor Freight blower fans up high on the south wall of my shop. Made a big difference in summer and winter and will be really nice when I get my mini-split installed. I daisy chained them together and installed a wall mounted fan speed controller to control all of them at once.

I'd offer to ship you one, but the price might be a bit steep...

I figured I'd share that they were on sale in case anyone in the midwest was thinking of getting one.

I have a 48" shop fan I found along side the road 30+ years ago. Built a box for it with wheels, picked up a motor and belt then wired it with a long plug-in cord and on/off switch. Point it in the general direction I'll be working if it's really hot otherwise I set it next to my side garage door and face it along the wall so it creates a circular effect. I have a second one sitting in the barn that I've considered mounting high in an end wall but........

I‘ve been using a $35 fan from Costco for the last eight years. 4 speeds, moveable.
Works well in my small space.
